GED Test Prep Plus 2020: 2 Practice Tests + Proven Strategies + Online (Kaplan Test Prep)

My 14 yr old homeschooler is using this to begin studying for his GED. He loves the online access and videos that go along with the workbook, to change up the study process and give him exposure to other teaching techniques from different instructors. Good book! Easy to read, well written and has helpful instructions for each lesson. We recommend it!

The book has 2 practice tests, but you also get 3 online tests. The best part about the online tests is that you can get some detailed analysis of where you are having problems. They also have instructional videos once you register your book. All you have to do is mark your answers and it will tell you not just what you got wrong, but what category of problem you got wrong. For instance, it might tell you that you are weak in geometry, but strong in basic algebra. It's a helpful book!

I bought this self-help book for my daughter, as she is preparing to take her GED. She is finding it very helpful in the study process and likes the design. It is great having the practice tests too, as the results of the tests help her to focus on her problem areas. This is a great book!

I got this book a while ago and i just passed my GED!! The only knock I would give it is the math sections don't do a good enough job of explaining things. (To be fair though, I'm pretty math dumb) For example: In the practice, it would ask me to calculate the surface area of a cylinder given it's diameter. Okay. No problem. Just plug in the numbers to the equation. Got it. but on the practice test it would ask me what the radius of the cylinder given its volume=250^3. It never explains how to do those other steps in a problem. I relied heavily on youtube videos to help with math. I still gave it 5 stars because the said passing scores guaranteed and i did pass so... I still highly recommend this book. If there is an issue with math, there is a plethora of youtube videos to help.

Last edit for this review: I passed my GED in October of 2020! I ended up with scores in the 170s thanks to this book. Good luck to everyone going for their GED! I know it’s scary, but it’s doable with a little determination and willpower on your part to learn and get through the content! You’ll thank yourself later I promise! Edit #2: Please don’t let the frustrations of my review deter you from buying this book. It starts you off in the very basic foundations of mathematics and builds from there. The guide is great, sometimes the directions are lacking, but it will get to where you need to be going. It’s up to you to find more information/direction if you feel like you need it. ~ This is a great book, I really love the ‘homework’, but I feel like the algebra section is lacking in information in a few lessons. I had to use YouTube math channels to fill in the blanks. For example, slope equations, multi-step algebra problems with division on both sides, algebra word problems and also algebra multiplication boxes to name a few. I didn’t go to high school, and tbh I’m pretty sure my 8th grade math teacher passed me without me really earning it (speculation). So I’m coming from a place of only basic math understanding. This book has helped me tremendously in expanding my knowledge of math and how to think carefully about the information presented to me. And after almost finishing the math section I have to say that I really do enjoy math now, however frustrating it is to learn new concepts at first. Edit #1: after finishing the algebra section of this book I have to say that is was seriously lacking in directions/information, especially at the very end with Function Notation. I just want to add again how much I had to use YouTube and math websites to help me through this book. There were times when I would finish the instructions for an algebra lesson only to be asked questions in the practice area I was completely unprepared for. Edit #3: Geometry portion - Area, I had to look up the formulas for the area of parallelograms and trapezoids because the book didn’t give them and asked for them in a few of the practice questions. I’m honestly not surprised at this point with the amount of missing information in this book, just very disappointed that this keeps happening.

You can stop looking now. This is the book you want. My son comes from a country where school goes Ron 10th grade, and the education is really more like a 6th-8th grade education, depending on the subject. He had two and a half months to study for his GED. He had never seen an algebra problem before. He had never learned US social studies material. He had never done earth science, biology, or chemistry. He had never written a proper essay. We went though this book, and he passed every test the first time! This is life-changing!

In anticipation of the current situation we are all in, I purchased this book to use as a reference to teach my GED Aspire classes from home. It is an excellent reference book to help me prepare my lessons and assignments for my students.

Easy to use

My copy of the book is a USED copy. It had already been drawn in, unhappy considering the amount of money I paid for the item + shipping. It’s really not acceptable.

I found the study guide very helpful. The practice tests were very useful. My wife would ask me questions pertaining to each subject I finished. She found it easy to pick out questions to ask me.

Passed my GED. Took the pretests, then used Khan Academy to work on math (not my strongest subject) and ended up with a 93% math mark. I recommend.
