Crabs love it
This is the best type of sand for hermit crabs I got 2 bags to fill up my 20g tank!

Sandy
Very nice sand for Mr Crabs! This is 2 bags in my approximate 10 gallon tank! I think Iโll order one more bag, and come back again anytime I need more. I like it.

Was a great use for a project
I needed sand for a childโs crafting class I teach. THIS was double the amount for 1/2 the price!! It was easy to use. Had no smell or off putting texture. It was a lot of sand and I have plenty leftover from my class for our next project.

You probably want to order two or more
I thought the bag was bigger but it worked. My crab loves to dig in the sand.

May smell if wet
Started to smell bad after the sand was wet for a while. We had to switch from sand to the coconut shavings.

Great for bearded dragons
Perfect for my bearded dragon. She loves playing around in this stuff and itโs easy to clean. Good value for the money.

Optimum substrate for hermit crabitats
This is an excellent, high quality substrate for hermit crabs-- worlds better than the calcium carbonate sand or plain Eco Earth that the pet stores sell and use for their crabs. It comes well packaged (no leakage of sand) and is very easy to reconstitute (just add distilled or dechlorinated water). My 5 crabs are extremely happy and comfortable in this substrate, and it provides a very attractive and hygienic crabitat. It really does encourage burrowing behavior, which is extremely important for hermit crabs. The one negative is the amount of substrate that you get for the cost. If you need several inches of substrate (3 x the depth of your largest crab, usually 5-6" or so) in a larger terrarium (I use a 20 gallon long tank), then you will need a lot of bags of this. I bought 4 bags of this, and I would probably need more like 10-12 to fully fill my tank to the right depth. I found that you can actually make almost identical sand for much less cost just by doing it yourself. Get silica sand from your local pet shop (I found 20# bags of CaribSea sand for $7) or even just play sand, mix in Eco Earth (also available at any pet shop) in a 4-5 parts sand to 1 part EE ratio, mix in a few ounces of crushed oyster shell or crushed coral (available on Amazon or the pet store), and add salt water (mixed from Instant Ocean, also from the pet store) until it reaches "sand castle making consistency" (I found that it took about 700 cc of seawater per 20# of sand, although use your own judgement.) Bingo! A lot more of the same substrate (short of the "probiotic", whatever that is) for a lot less. Takes a bit more work, but not much, and if you have kids, it's a fun thing for them to mix up. Otherwise, great product, and I would recommend it for all hermit crab enthusiasts. Your hermit crabs will survive much longer and happier with this substrate.

Good
It has the ideal texture and consistency, allowing my hermit crabs to burrow and dig just like they would in their natural habitat. The sand is clean, easy to spread, and holds moisture well, which is essential for maintaining the right humidity levels in their enclosure. My crabs seem more active and happy since I switched to this substrate. Plus, it's safe and free from any harmful additives, giving me peace of mind.

Good Quality
I found this an acceptable blend for my hermit crabs. It is a small quantity but I liked the texture as a topper once I got my play sand and coco coir mixed up. This doesnt dry out fast and it doesnt go rock hard. It stays a really nice sand castle consistency.

Hermit Crabs love it
I have three hermit crabs who just love this sand. It doesn't clump or get caught in their shells and when its time for molting or burrowing under to sleep they do so with ease. Would recommend. Kind of expensive but it stays moist long rather than drying up.

Crabs love it
My crabs love this sand and it is pre-moist. Mabe not the cheapest, but to me the best. No need for mixing and all. Easy peasy.
