Soft but durable like a Kong or hard rigid plastic?** A: it is a hard and durable type., Not soft at all., My dogs, a sheltie and an austrailan shepard do not like it, Just my results here, **Q: If a dog gets his jaws around it (I have mastiffs) can he crush the ball? There is no weak spot on our ball, I cannot explain that comment. One of our vendors did sell a version of the 10" size Virtually Indestructible Ball which has a hole that contains a threaded plug. The purpose of this plug is so that you can remove the plug and fill the ball with water or stones to make it wobble. The inherent problem of course is that a dog can get his teeth around that hole and chew. However, that vendor no longer sells on Amazon.
