On the SAK I attached the clip directly to the key ring, while on the Kabar I used the included split ring to attach it to the knife's bail. Out of the box they were too tight to easily slide onto the edge of my jeans pocket, but a little careful bending with needlenose pliers fixed that. Just don't bend them too far, you only need a small gap.
