Herschel Heritage Backpack, Ash Rose, Classic 21.5L

Let me just tell you, if you told me a few months ago that I would ramble on the internet about how cool and great a backpack is, I would have thought that you're insane but here I am now. I don't even know where to start! I bought the Heritage one back in early December and have been using quite a lot for travel and school. This thing is a-ma-zing! I am able to put in my 15" laptop in there just fine and I can carry a TON of stuff. I took a trip in December and I had to carry my laptop and charger, some books, my Nikon DSLR camera and a change of clothes in there and it fit just fine. But the best part is not all that you can put in there but just how comfortable it feels while carrying it. I have mild scoliosis and have had all types and sorts of backpacks before but they all give me back pains after a few minutes of standing and carrying around. This one is so comfortable it literally feels like you're not carrying anything at all. The straps are padded and so comfortable and the material is really sturdy that it doesn't really move when you walk around, which I think adds benefit to the comfort. The material also has some sort of waxy finish (not at all a bad thing, just makes it a little stiff) that makes it water resistant! (NOT waterproof). I love that even though you don't fill out the backpack or the front pocket, it ALWAYS maintains the shape. That's a big plus in my book. And I wouldn't want to forget the fact that the color and design is extremely pretty, so it's a backpack that I would want to continue using for a long period of time. Overall, I am EXTREMELY pleased with my purchase and I'm so glad that I paid the extra buck for something that has great quality. My recommendation for you is that you can get much cheaper and pretty options, yes, but this is one that can be pretty and will also last you a long time so in the end, you will save a lot more money. Highly recommended.

$55 for a children's backpack? Who would buy that? Me. I would buy that. And I've considered returning it and buying something cheaper for a whole week after it arrived. I had buyer's guilt bad... but not anymore. I've had the hardest time finding a backpack for my son to use for school. Many children's backpacks with the cartoon characters are poor quality and would cost you anywhere between $15-35 a pop. I wanted something classy and that was built to last. I've considered Jansport, but it was incredibly big compared to my four-year-old. I've heard Hershel was a great brand, and after a few hours of debating, I bit the bullet and bought it. And it was the best decision I've ever made. This bag is the absolute perfect size for a preschooler. (Yes, it can fit a folder without bending. Big plus!) It is well put together, sleek, and sturdy. My son arguably has the nicest bag in his class. After a few months of use, it still looks awesome and cleans up easily. I believe (and hope) it will last him another year or two. This bag could work for adults too who don't have much to carry.

Great bookbag. Saw it on Tilly's (Or was it Zumiez?) and I bought it on here to avoid paying tax and shipping. I bought the Navy colored one and it looks great. I'm in college, and at the most, I carry a laptop, 3" binder, and two textbooks in it. In the little front pocket, I carry my 3DS XL, and other random things. I would avoid carrying this bag by it's leather/pleather handle. It'll rip off. I carried mine by it for the first day, and I spotted a very minuscule detachment. If I hadn't seen it, it probably would've came off all the way a month or two down the line. Be sure not to drag this or the leather/pleather on the bottom will rub and peel off. If anything DOES go wrong with this bag, it's all good because it comes with a free 1-year warranty which is pretty awesome. This bag is also machine washable. Mine gets a little dirty from time to time, and I just throw it in the washing machine. I let it air dry though because I feel a dryer would just screw it up. I feel it's just a little overpriced, but it just looks so great. I thought about it a lot before buying this, and I don't regret it. I plan on buying a Herschel Supply Co.'s duffle bag in the future for laundry and trips. Don't read anymore reviews. Stop thinking about getting this bag and just get it. Trust me.

I was looking for a new bag after having an underarmour backpack for the past 8 years that I absolutely loved. The problem with that bag was that the mesh on the back and straps pilled all of my shirts and sweaters and I was getting tired of it so wanted to get a new bag. I got this one because I like the look of it. It has a good look and the pleather panel in the bottom has greatly reduced the friction between my bag and clothing, really reducing the amount of pilling. So it achieved what I wanted it to, except it is not a very comfortable bag. The material on the straps can be uncomfortable on your bare skin, and the straps and back are both not very padded. It is fine just to carry my books around campus but I wouldn't want to carry heavy items in it for long amounts of time. When carrying both heavy and light loads, the buckle on the strap will loosen when putting on the bag. I normally just pull the strap at the end to tighten it up again but it is inconvenient. It is a good size, I normally carry around my macbook air, a notebook or two and a textbook. You can't really fit more in it but I wouldn't really want it to. All in all it's a decent bag and I am going to keep it because it does what I wanted it to, reduce the pilling on my shirts.

Looks Great. Very well made backpack. The only thing you should know and consider before buying is the size. My son is in 2nd grade and he's much smaller than average and this bag fits him perfectly. I think it would work for 1st grade and younger. It fits his body and height perfectly but that being said... The space inside the bag is VERY SMALL. It works for up to second grade considering that they don't carry many books or utilities up until then but we will need to upgrade to a bigger size for next year. He carries 1 (1 inch 3 ring binder) a small library book. His lunch bag and a stain less steel water bottle which leaves NO ROOM for anything else. Great backpack, good size for younger kids but definitely NOT ADULT or TEENAGER sized. Be advised. Otherwise do great bag. Fast deliver and packaged well. Would buy again. We bought the mitary green with the black leather.

I ordered this backpack back in August to hold my books, laptop, and notebooks for college. After using it extensively for a semester, I can say that it has held up perfectly and hasn't given me any problems. The laptop pocket is very large and holds my Dell Inspiron with ease, and the backpack itself is roomy and holds several books and notebooks with extra space. I use the front pocket to hold pens, pencils, gum and a few other items and it works nicely. This is a high quality backpack that is worth the price. I found myself stuck out in the rain once and after 5 minutes of walking in fairly light rain, while my sweater was wet I found the inside of the backpack was actually totally dry which was a huge relief since I had my laptop in there. Definitely would recommend this backpack to anyone. I'd include a photo but it looks exactly the same as the day I bought it.

Perfect bag for school small enough where it can carry everything not too big to look dumb

Glad I purchased this. I fell in love with herschel backpacks and had to have one; for the same cost as a jansport, the quality is much nicer. The backpack looks very nice and stylish. The blue is a bit brighter than navy, but it's a great color; I like it better than dark navy. I wish the inner lining weren't candy cane colored, but what's on the inside doesn't count. It has an inner storage pouch in the main space; I can't fit my 15 inch laptop in there, but it looks like a 13 inch would fit, and my ipad does fit well in there. The backpack has a headphone slot as well for storing your ipod in your backpack and sticking the headphones through the top. I highly suggest getting the matching laptop case for this. I bought a matching one for my 15 inch macbook pro and I'm very glad I did.
