Solar or Battery Powered Fluttering Hummingbird, Real Feather Wings and Tails

Very clever and is delightful in my garden.

I purchased these darling little humming birds as a gag gift for my wife's 53rd birthday. Each year she feeds the real ones that come around, and I thought it might be fun to have a couple of "early birds". The joke's on me! As soon as she took them out of their boxes, she immediately fell in love with them! Their detail, real feathers, and cute little beaks enthralled her on first sight. Picture if you will a 53 year old lady standing on her porch with her morning coffee rooting the sun to hurry up and crest over the mountain. The entertainment value of that one was worth the price alone! :-) Once the sun came up, the little rascals did in fact start fluttering and swooping about. The only thing missing was the buzz of the real ones, though it was easy to imagine you could hear it. So realistic that a cock robin actually came up to inspect and decided they were no threat. Meantime, bathrobe flapping, my Mrs is in the front yard adjusting the angle of the rod, and aiming the panels more closely to the sun. Quite the sight! Oh what a joy! A simple creation that brought happiness instantly and a smile to someone's face who really wasn't sure about turning 53. I highly recommend these little guys. I bought two. I suggest you do as well, as they bring happiness wherever they go, and don't cost an arm and leg. I am ever so glad I purchased them, even if the joke's on me :-) Suggestion: put just a touch of vaseline on the rod sections when assembling them. It makes it easier for them to seat.

Don't buy! Solar mode did not work....so I put a battery in and guess what? It actually worked...next day I surprised my son with it (he has to do a hummingbird presentation and thought it would be cool for him to show the other kids) but when I hit the battery switch to show him it would not turn on!!!! Replaced the new battery and everything and still nothing!! Ughhh! What a piece of junk!! Only upside is (the hummingbird is so cute)

The bird seems to be a bit too heavy. It wants to stop rotating quite often. Under solar power, it worked well for a few days then really slowed down. Turning it by hand helps somewhat but then it stops on it's own. The battery power does get it going but the solar part failed much too soon. It is what it is but when I compare it to the solar butterfly that I have, there is no comparison. The butterfly is solar only and has worked for months without any failure. Working or not the hummingbird is cute but doesn't work like it did at first.

It's been a few weeks and it's been working great. Needs direct sunlight to work though. Looks real from distance. It's somewhat flimsy so I don't know how long it will last. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

I must tell you, I bought this little guy for my husband and he loves it ! The size is realistic, as well as the flutter of the feathered wings. He works very well in the sun on it's own, but if the sun moves away, you also have the option of using one AA battery. It has a little "switch" on it to turn on and off if you choose to do so, which also allows you to bring it indoors if you want to. The color is just what it is said to be. The assembly of it is 2 minutes, by hand,a few pieces snug together. This was a great price for what you get. I read all the reviews of other birds, even ordered one somewhere else, I must confess, but not even close to this one. It even arrived one day earlier than I expected. Amazon is always on it, no matter what you order. I highly recommend this item. It is sure to make anyone smile.( You MUST be careful NOT to press on the fragile wire the bird sits on.) So, look no further. You gotta have one or two of these guys!

I get one of these every year. They are just delightful. I put them in a hanging plant on my deck and it mesmerizes me in the morning when I have my coffee. Once the winter rolls around it kind of gets beat up but for under $10 it brings a lot of joy for a year. just

this thing is great. A lot of fun in the garden. I was just out watering some plants and the thing never stopped. I flutters and every so often spins in a circle. Two important things: point the solar panels where you get the most sun, and there is a battery compartment and a switch if you want it to do it's thing when the sun is not out. You do not need the battery and you can keep the switch to off, but the solar will still work.
