Excellent RJ11 Cable
I write this review in response to the guy who complained that the cable is from 1999. The cable is "SFTP" shielded, and this is printed on the jacket. Those letters stand for "Screened Fully-Shielded Twisted Pair."This is an improvement over regular phone cables because of three things. 1. Pairs of conductors are twisted together to minimize crosstalk. This technology was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, so it much precedes the 1999 timestamp conferred by the other reviewer. it works by allowing both conductors of the pair to absorb the same amount of electromagnetic interference as one another from an adjacent source. 2. The pairs are each shielded with foil. This is another means to keep electromagnetic interference from altering the signal transmitted across the pairs, and it dates back to Michael Faraday. 3. All of the pairs (in this case two of them) are bundled and together wrapped in foil to further protect the integrity of the signals transmitted through them. None of this technology is groundbreaking, but the reason to use shielded cat 5e ethernet cable is simple: most phone cord doesn't go to such great lengths to protect the signal, while ethernet cable is designed with signal integrity in mind due to the greater throughput demanded by its applications. The connectors on this cable are very nice. Unlike most phone cords, they feature strain reliefs. The connectors are shielded, which is important for the foil shielding of the cables to work properly. At 7ft long, this cable may also be substantially shorter than the green DSL cable provided by your ISP. That is a good thing. If your green cable is bunched up and zip-tied, using a shorter cable ceteris paribus is an obvious way to reduce the voltage drop between your gateway and the ISP's DSLAM. This cable may not improve your connection if your internet is already working properly, but if you are having problems with your existing cable and/or you wish to spend a few bucks on a high-quality RJ11 cable for your DSL gateway, it is a solid choice. Don't worry about the year that cat 5e was introduced; cat 7 was introduced in 2002 but that doesn't mean 10GigE is obsolete. Focus instead on the problems you are having with your internet service and how to improve your connection by improving the weakest links in your setup.

Cable works great for us.
Our office has had high speed Internet for years, mostly DSL thru Bell South now ATT. We were informed by ATT that it is phasing out DSL in our area and replacing it with Uverse. We upgraded. After the upgrade we had a lot of problems with our ATT Uverse router/modem dropping the signal. We had no fewer than 7 ATT Uverse technicians out to work on the problem over a 2 week period. They did considerable work on the outside lines eliminating what they called "bridge taps" and that improved things a lot. But we were still getting dropped from time to time, about once a week and it seems we were not getting the full speed we were paying for. One of the techs noticed that the cable supplied by ATT with the router/modem (a Motorola NVG510) was not a shielded cable and that as installed in our office the Uverse cable from the jack in the wall to the router/modem was in what can only be described as a "spaghetti junction" of other cables feeding the phones, computers, printers and so on. To minimize interference from the other cables we bought this cable off Amazon and installed it to replace the unshielded cable that ATT supplied. We have gone over 90 days now and been dropped off the Internet by Uverse only 1 time, which is great (originally we were getting dropped 2 or 3 times per day, then 1 or 2 times per week, now after this cable and the other fixes mentioned only 1 time in over 90 days). We are also now getting almost the full Uverse speed we pay for (we pay for 12,000 kbps and are actually getting 11,997 kbps). While I cannot say this cable alone solved all our problems as many of them were located in the lines outside our building, I can say as we got the outside line problems fixed this shielded cable helped eliminate our remaining problems involving cross interference from our other cables and helped further reduce our drop rate and help us get the full Uverse speeds we paid for. Not a magic bullet, but it certainly helped. Very pleased.

When Trouble-Shooting Internet or Computer Issues ALWAYS Consider the Cables, and this One is Great!
o/` o/` What a difference, a cable makes.. 84 little inches... o/` o/` (Hopefully this brought to mind for you Aretha singing 'What a Difference a Day Makes'.) Seriously, I have been involved in tech for going on 20+ years, and one of the things that I learned early on was that if there is an issue with anything that is connecting or connected to anything else - and where a cable is involved at any point - *always* check the cables! It's often not obvious - or even visible at all - when a cable has an issue, and it can cause a slow connection, or an erratic connection, or even no connection at all! It's also the simplest and cheapest thing to check! Most recently I ordered this particular cable because I had upgraded to a newer, high-speed modem, and trust me, when your ISP ships you that new modem, they are *not* including good quality cables (unless they are a very unusual ISP). So I ordered this cable, and I can confirm that it's a great cable, and works very well!

Shielding exceptional, wire color is non-standard
I used this cable differently from most people, so my cons will only apply to a small number of users. For most, this is a 5 star cable. I cut this cable in half to connect my DSL modem to my 110 punch down block. This is a fantastic cable for a high quality DSL signal. The signal on the cable is excellent and I'm able to achieve my full DSL speeds with it. Pros: Double shielded twisted pair cable. It has a braided shield on the outside, similar to a coax cable. The interior shielding is a foil shield over all four conductors. Overall, the shielding is excellent and leaves little to be desired. Cons: Against wiring standards, orange is used in place of the blue wires and green is used in place of the orange. It is slightly confusing, but easily overcome if you pay attention to which pin on the RJ11 connector each wire is connected to when you attach to a punchdown block. If you buy this cable to connect two phone jacks, you will have no problems.

Great quality signal compared to conventional cable
After testing it with my modem, I could notice that the quality and consistency of the signal is much better, but the speed was only marginally better (extra 1mbs download/upload). Perhaps it may be good for people who stream high fidelity content online and for peace of mind. In my opinion the price is right for people who are seeking for the highest quality internet connection possible and willing to invest ~10 extra dollars for it. P.S. the cable is extremely durable and feels like a high quality CAT 6/7 cable.

... (centurylink come with) for this new RJ11 cable for better shield reduce interference and high quality material
I replaced green RJ11 cable (centurylink come with) for this new RJ11 cable as better shield reduce interference and high quality material. Day 1 since package delivered Here test PING 19 ms DOWNLOAD 101.65 Mbps UPLOAD 10.15 Mbps I paid Centurylink for high speed internet 100 mbps DL/ 10 Mbps UP service over Comcast because Centurylink don't have limit cap data. Green cable and new cable already provide almost same performance for download and upload but only notice difference buffer loading when surf video such as youtube or any streaming like netflix. Buffer loading much quick and almost instant jump time streaming instead wait delay loading like 1 or 2 sec if go 1080P streaming. Thank you for awesome make RJ11 cable and almost same performance as Cat5/Cat6. Why can't you go partner with Centurylink for simple provide RJ11 cable ? Centurylink should get better RJ11 cable or whatever. I will update news near future if any degrade performance or dying.

Vast improvement
This made a vast improvement with my internet DSL bonded service. I've been running on Centurylink 80mbps service for a few years and had been happy with speed. Few months ago I upgraded from a 1080 smart TV to a 4K UHD set. I have the TV connected to a Denon HTS. The picture and sounds where always lacking despite what content I watched. I upgraded to the HDMI cable I've had for years. That made a great improvement in terms of the picture clarity, but the sound was still lacking and was very heavy on the bass. I tried to adjust the bass, but even with the bass turned all the down was still bass heavy. The phone cable that I've been using that ran between the wall receptacle and modem was the one that came from Centurylink when they set up the service. I decided to try this C2G/Cables to Go 28721 RJ11 High-Speed Internet Modem Cable (7 Feet) to see if it would help. All's I can say is WOW! Fixed and improved my audio problem, as well as made even more of an improvement in picture as well. Lagging and buffering issues are a thing of the past. Now online when I click a video instead of buffering for several seconds while video loads, the video now opens immediately and starts playing. Kicking myself for not trying replacing this cable years ago. If you still have the green cable that came with the setup from your ISP, give this cable a try.

For Older Phone Tech And Not Blue
It's not blue. This is shown in another review. This is a well shielded cable but it's for standard old fashion gear. Think of dial-up, fax machines, and answering machines. It is rigid which could be good or bad. Good protection if it sits still like stapled to the wall, but could get brittle if bent too much. This is NOT for high speed internet. It does not boost signal strength. It's a top of the line cable for what it does but it also isn't blue. I wanted to do color coding for some PBX gear and this is the perfect cable for it if you like the color. It's more a translucent black.

Increased Upload speeds, Stability and Lowered Latency
Well, I'd been having issues with latency, stability and uploads with my VDSL connection since the beginning of summer. I was losing sync every week, sometimes, several times per day with lag issues. Quick history: I had the 28AWG modem wire that came with the modem plugged, which worked fine, but, then changed it for a 25ft flat jack-modem RJ11 cable when I moved the modem to a better location; believe it or not, everything was ok in the beginning, but over time my connection got worse. I complained many times to my ISP, but, after changing the "profile" several times, the problem just persisted. After reviewing reasons for my sync problems, I decided to get this cable based on the many reviews that guided me here. I really didn't think a cable would have made that much of a difference ... but it did ... no more sync losses, upload speed increased from 2.8Mbps to about 4.2Mbps, with peaks at 8Mbps), and yes, still holds my downloads at 25Mbps solid ... but, where it's become very noticeable, is on the latency ... gaming hit registration are MUCH better. I thought the cable was a little expensive ... BUT, it has brought happiness to my life in the frag department while holding sync watching Prime Videos with the wife.
