Great CarPlay and HomeKit integration
Was an early adopter of the myQ garage door opener almost a decade ago but while the opener works reliably, it’s pretty much stuck in 2016. The app is kept up to date but offers no integration to smartthings nor HomeKit and even going as far as to remove home assistant integration that users built. Most frustrating, the watch app never worked reliably enough. This opener does everything the myq will not allow you to do. I have it working with both HomeKit and smartthings. There’s no need for a watch app as HomeKit just works, no signing in again or syncing garbage that myq had going on. The best part it saved me from keeping a garage door opener in my CarPlay enabled car, the door just pops up on Home Screen when I’m close by. My car didn’t come with homelink button but this effectively replaces that anyhow. Device was super easy to set up via HomeKit, even faster than myq setup that required a Bluetooth connection to connect to WiFi. Just followed the wall opener wires and connected this in same pin holes. The open sensor takes a bit more patience as there’s ample wiring to run. I ran mine next to the obstruction sensor wire with some zip ties. Whole thing took maybe 20 min. Used a wall charger that has both 110v plug and 2 usb connections so I could myQ as a backup. There’s no need for the Meross app via HomeKit but without it there’s no way to fine tune settings like led light and closing audible alarm. I also needed to set the closing time to 25 sec so it would clear the HomeKit obstruction error. Device has been great for a few days now and the myq is looking more and more likely to come down.

Simple, easy to install, works great.
I bought this device because my remote controls for my two garage doors had quit working, or didn’t work well when it was cold. (Kind of defeats the purpose of a remote control if I have to get out of the car to shut the garage door every time the temperature drops.). I didn’t feel like spending the money to replace something that didn’t work that great in the first place. I found these after a search on Amazon and decided to give them a try. Installation was mostly a snap although because of the way my garage doors were attached I had to do a little finessing to get the sensors in place. This would not be an issue on 90% of other garage doors. Everything else was a snap, directions were clear, they tell you if your door opener needs a special adapter and will send you what you need. Connecting to my Apple Home app was simple as well. One of my favorite features is that it tells you if your door is open. I can’t tell you how many times I would forget to close the door after working on a project and because my doors face away from the house I would have to go out into the driveway, rain, snow, sleet or storm to see if I shut it or not. Now I can check while I’m laying in bed watching a movie on my IPad and close it with the touch of a button. The doors connect through your local WiFi network to the Home App. When I com home, as I’m getting mail from the mail box, my phone connects to my network and I can activate the doors as I’m pulling in the driveway. I also get an alert tone and notice should the doors be opened at any time...no more sneaky teenagers trying to come home late undetected. I’m very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an easier way to control your garage doors.

A few important router tweaks if you are using Apple CarPlay / Homekit / Homepod
These Smart garage door openers from Meross / Refoss seem to be pretty stable and work great converting older garage door openers into "smart" garage door openers. This is my first time integrating Apple Homekit / CarPlay with the use of an Apple Homepod. This allows cars equipped with CarPlay to have an icon pop on the CarPlay screen (pops up on the screen when you are close to your garage door) that you can tap to open or close the door. It also allows you to open and close the door with Siri on your iPhone or Apple Watch (as long as you have a passcode in use on your Apple Watch). The set-up procedure to integrate the smart garage door opener and Apple Homekit result in a message that the smart garage door is not responding. From my trial and error, reading everything I could find online, and years of networking and integrating smart devices, I can tell you this conflict between Homekit and the smart opener is router based most of the time. You will need to log into your router GUI / set up page and make some changes. I've read that Apple uses Multicast DNS with Homekit, and that is not typically used for these types of integrations. I'm not an expert on these things, so take that for what it's worth. I use Asus routers, and this is the list of things that I changed that allowed Homekit to connect reliably to the Meross / Refoss smart garage door opener. Most routers probably have similar settings that you can change, so there may be information online for your brand of router. This is from Asus: Go to [Wireless] > [General] page. 3-1. Turn off [Enable Smart Connect] and select the [Band] for your network devices. 3-2. Disable [802.11ax / WiFi 6 mode] 3-3. Disable [Wi-Fi Agile Multiband] 3-4. Disable [Target Wake Time] 3-5. Disable [Protected Management Frames] Hit Apply to save your changes. You should also find "Enable multicast routing (IGMP Proxy)" in your LAN settings in the router, and make sure it is set to "enabled". These changes worked for me. It may take a few minutes before the changes make it through your network. You may need to reboot the router and Meross / Refoss device or actually reset it and go through the setup procedure outlined in the directions after making these changes. Not a bad idea to reboot the Apple Homepod as well. You do need a Homepod on the same network for all of this to work.

Do not recommend, unless you have a wifi router in your garage
So, I was really looking forward to this product because I’m a big fan of smart home appliances. If it’s something that I’ll use every day and that will make my life easier, I’m all for it! Unfortunately, this product has resulted in 10x the amount of issues my regular garage door opener would have given me. On a positive note, I do really love that this device is compatible with Apple HomeKit. If you do not have an Apple HomeKit hub (I would suggest googling the requirements for a HomeKit hub if you are unsure), please keep in mind that this remote DOES NOT FUNCTION REMOTELY. Without an Apple HomeKit hub, you are unable to access your garage door remotely. You can only use this if you are in or around your house. Remote access might seem unnecessary to you but keep in mind that you can’t open your garage door until you are at your house and your app has established a connection to your house wifi. In other words, you might as well just use your garage door opener because you’ll have to wait the same amount of time either way. If you DO have a HomeKit hub however, this remote definitely comes in handy. To begin, installation wasn’t hard but it wasn’t exactly easy. I’d give it a 8/10. It’s simple enough but requires some manual labor and some general knowledge of garage door mechanics. Other than that, the directions include everything you need to know. I’d say it took me 15-20 minutes to complete the installation. The wifi connectivity on the other hand is terrible. If I’m being generous, I’d say the option to open/shut my garage is present 75% of the time. The other 25% of the time it will say “no response” and the button to open/close the garage will be grayed out. If this happens, you’re basically out of luck and you’ll need to wait for it to somehow re-establish a connection, which could either take 5 minutes or it could take an hour. It’s all dependent on the mechanism itself. Since that only happens 25% of the time though, it’s certainly an inconvenience but I can live with it. What really gets me going is when I click the button to close the garage and it says “closing” (indicating that it is doing its job and that I have nothing to worry about) but then continues displaying the message for 15, 30, 45 seconds… until it just continues displaying the same message. This is especially bothersome when I’m leaving my house and I get half way down the street; after waiting about a minute for the display to confirm that my garage has shut, and nothing has changed, I then need to turn around and go back to ensure the garage door has closed. Half of the time it has successfully shut, but isn’t informing me on my phone/CarPlay and the other half of the time it’s still open…. Overall, this product is great in theory but it needs better wifi connectivity and the app needs to sync quicker (which could easily be a result of the bad wifi connectivity). **For context, my wifi router is on the other side of my garage door, which is as close as it could possibly be without it being inside the garage itself. You might have better luck if the router is in the garage or if you get a router extension and place it in your garage. Just another thing to buy though. Hope this helps future potential buyers!

Does the job just about perfectly; maybe slightly limited
If you want a smart garage door add-on that works well with Apple devices, look no further. This one is very simple to connect, and has worked solidly since it was installed. I've had more problems with my regular garage remote than this device. Physical installation can be a little challenging to find a spot for the sensor/magnet, that's just inherent in the problem I think. I do wish that it had additional sensors to tell you when the door is fully or partially open. Maybe I'm being fussy, but I'd like to know whether it's completely open or just slightly. That's probably a lot harder to solve though. Behavior when you interrupt the opening is also a bit confusing. It stops right away but there is a long delay while it figures out what's going on before you can do anything more. Some of this might be the way Apple Home works, not sure. Also, of course, Siri is her usual temperamental self, but thats not the fault of this excellent device. It would be nice if it had a more secure way to mount it.

Fun install and works great!
Had a garage door that refused to connect to any remote I had, no matter what I tried. Bought this as an alternative solution and absolutely love the functionality. Probably took 10 minutes to install and get the app setup to my Google Home. It was a fun "project" and solved for my lack of garage remote, now I just open shut through the Google Home app or use voice command with Android Auto.

Super simple way to add Homekit to existing garage door openers. Works great!
I bought 2 of these, 1 for a 2 car bay garage door and the other for a single car bay garage door. The hardest part of the installation was figuring out which terminals on my garage door opener to insert the 2 wires into that come out of the control module. I started by removing the button on my wall and looking at the wires attached to it. I figured I could then identify the same wires inserting into the terminals on the garage door opener. This was not the case. The wires connected to the button and those in the garage door were not the same colors, clearly there was a splice somewhere between the two. What I did to get around this was to remove the first wire from its terminal completely and try the button, if the garage door opener did not respond then I knew I had one of the two terminals I needed. The instructions said it didn't matter which wire from the control module went it which terminal on the garage door opener, so once I found one wire the one next to it had to be the other. I then inserted the two wires and after connecting the device to Homekit pressed the button. The garage door responded! But it wouldn't go the opposite direction. I reasoned that this was because I hadn't yet hooked up the magnetic sensor to determine if the door was close or not. I was correct, once I hooked that up the door respond in both directions as needed. Overall installation time was about an hour. However the next day when I installed the second one on my 1 car bay garage door it only took me about 20 minutes in total. My garage doors literally respond instantly when I press one of the buttons in Homekit. Sometimes Siri is a bit slower than that but overall is fine. I didn't even use the Refoss app at all, I went directly into Homekit where this device is identified as a Meross anyway. I debated ordering the Meross at a higher cost and I'm really glad I didn't. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this device!

It's not perfect
Here is my experience with WIFI garage door openers. There are plethora of devices on Amazon which look exactly the same, so I purchased the least expensive one. They all advertised to work with Alexa, however, I was unable to configure the device to operate with Alexa. I also spent half hour with Amazon tech support to no avail and he issued a refund. I purchased Refoss brand with Apple Homelink which cost $10 more. Refoss brand has a better software app interface and setting up the device was a cinch. Hey Siri worked as advertised, not so with Alexa. Alexa required a 4 digit PIN code to open the garage door. I was unable to configure my 4 digits PIN code. On the phone with Amazon tech support again to no avail. Last ditch, tech support suggested that uninstalled and reinstalled the Alexa app. Voila! Alexa voice commands are operational now. Why did I chose Refoss? When configuring the initial device I noticed the brand on the Alexa list of supported garage door openers. So far the device works great when all devices are on the same WIFI network. When I was out and about, I was unable to command the device via cellular service. I have a web cam setup in the garage to monitor the doors, it simply didn’t work. Refoss app was showing an open door status when commanded open and vice versa for close. Updates Did a little research online, Siri requires hub to operate outside the home WIFI network. However, Alexa is fully functional over cellular, operator error :) After you command the garage door to open you'll need to wait for a beep from Alexa then voice your 4 digit code.

Thank You MeRoss / Great Customer Service! 👍🏻
Three or four years ago I bought 2 of these MSG100 garage door devices to use with my really old Chamberlain garage door openers that are easily 25 years old. Installation was straight forward and they worked pretty well for years! My household is dominated by Apple HomeKit products, so buying the HomeKit version was a must! Fast forward to last month, one of my 25 year old garage openers finally bit the dust so I had to replace it. The new garage door opener was also a Chamberlain and this one has MyQ smart capability. Except, MyQ doesn't support HomeKit! So I thought, no worries I'll just hook up the MSG100 again. So that's what I did. Except, it didn't work. I triple checked the wiring and made sure it was correct and it still didn't work. So I jumped on the MeRoss website to research this issue and quickly learned that any door opener with a YELLOW learn button wasn't compatible with the MSG100. However, all was not lost as I also learned that MeRoss already had a fix for this! The fix was a little adaptor that you hooked to the MSG100 and paired with the Chamberlain opener. I just fill out on online form and they send one. The adaptor cost me nothing and they were also willing to ship that adaptor to me free of charge. It arrived at my door in about 4 days. It took me five minutes to hook it up to the MSG100 and pair it and now it works perfectly with HomeKit and Siri. So I want to thank Suda from MeRoss for shipping me that adaptor and solving that issue so quickly. Great company with good products and people that support them! I also own some of their smart plugs and ive never had an issue with any of them. I promise i will purchase more MeRoss products in the future!

Ditch the MyQ!
Oh thank goodness someone created this solution and it works like a dream. I’ve been wanting an elegant Homekit-compatible garage door opener/sensor without having to replace my perfectly functioning “dumb” garage motor. Up until now, the only real option for adding this functionality was buying into the MyQ smart garage hub, and THEN dumping $100 into a MyQ home bridge. This does everything MyQ does + homekit, for half the price, plus it has a couple other perks: Pros: - homekit out of the box! - easy setup (I plugged it in at my kitchen table and did all the homekit/app pairing, naming, etc with ease before physically installing it in my detached garage. I was even able to test functions, such as the door sensor and hear the relay click when I sent open-close commands. - the native app looks and works great, but isn’t needed at all if you use homekit. That being said, it adds some expanded functionality missing from homekit (for now) such as an activity log, timed notifications, overnight open reminder, auto close scheduling and more. Much more then the MyQ app does. - Alexa and Google Assistant compatible if that’s your flavour (or if Apple throws a nuke at Homekit and you suddenly need to jump ship) - smaller footprint then the MyQ hub. Almost half the size. - near instant response to a closing command. The MyQ hub beeps loudly for 5 seconds or so and flashes a bright light before it tells the door to close. You know, just in case your garage door is covered in spinning saw blades and you need as much notice as possible to dive out of the way, lest it slowly slice you in half (eye roll). And no... MyQ doesn’t let you turn that function off. - wired door sensor is a small and easily hidden, where as the MyQ door sensor is a black box stuck onto the surface of your door. - wired connections! No constantly replacing batteries on the door sensor and no troubleshooting wired wireless issues. Cons: - wired connections. I know, I just said that is a “pro”. But there is definitely a trade off in terms of the flexibility of a wireless install. The MyQ sensor is literally stuck into the door with Velcro where as you need to run a wire and use screws with this unit. The MyQ bridge can also be installed nearly anywhere in a garage, where this unit only has enough wire to be on top of or next to the opener motor. - not as reputable a company as Chamberlain, so you take your chances on how long they will be around or support their product. - doesn’t have as slick a mounting/install design as the MyQ hub does. - need a solid wifi signal. Same as the MyQ. As far as I’m concerned, it is a much better buy then MyQ. Even if the device wasn’t supported in five years and I needed to buy an updated version, I still would have saved 50 bucks over the MyQ home bridge/hub combo for a better functioning device, imo.
