COMFYT Side Sleeper Pillow - Cervical Cooling Pillow, Gel Memory Foam Shoulder Bed Pillows Orthopedic Supports Posture Neck for Back Stomach Sleepers

Not a fan of foam anything, nevermind a pillow. Had been doing well with buckwheat husk pillow for years, including keeping me cool and dry headed in the heat and humidity of a MN summer. This year began to wake with sore head and neck and generally not rested in mornings. I tried a number of pillows with different fillings but none gave me the comfortable sleep I craved apart from a memory foam pillow. I am a side sleeper so I found if I pushed in this pillow to make room for my shoulder it was comfortable, although by morning my head/neck was not supported since it wasn't a "moldable" pillow. I searched again and found this one. Made with a indent to fit my shoulder when lying on my side. Comfortable from the first night. Found there was a strong smell from it for first few days. My other dislike of foam is it makes me hot and sweaty, especially during summer. This pillow has the cooling gel on one side, which was cool to the touch when it arrived and when I laid my head on it. It's winter just now so I don't need to use the cooling side, it is comfortable, no neck/headache issues so far- had it for about 2 months now. I have not experienced summer with it yet so don't know how effective the cooling side will be but for now I have to admit it's a comfortable pillow. I put a regular size pillow case on pillow.

I was originally looking for a curved Tempurpedic pillow (like ones I already own), for our vacation home and could not find one. I found this and thought I would give it a try. It is excellent, better than my Tempurpedic pillows. It is not too high or stiff; it has just the right amount of softness AND firm support. There was a slight smell from the material from which it is made which was mentioned in the instructions, but it has gone away fairly quickly (as was mentioned in the instructions) and did not hamper my sleeping.

I like this pillow. Got it because of night sweats. Gave it 4 stars because of the smell of the foam! I have had over a month and I still cannot sleep on it every night because the odor gives me a headache. I've had it outside in the sun and also sprayed it with fabric refresher and also vinegar. Still smells! I'll be airing it outside again and hopefully the smell will disappear so that I can use it every night. Also, the chill side is not very cold. I'm thinking my pillowcase might be the problem, but will hopefully figure it out as I use it more often. Update: I've been using this pillow every night for months now. The smell has disappeared and I find it a very comfortable side sleeper pillow.

The pillow gets 5 Star Rating. The pillowCASE Zero Stars. Thus an overall rating of 3 Stars. The pillow works fine and provides firm neck support and spine alignment for me, a predominantly side sleeper with previous neck surgery. However, the pillowcase is a design disaster. It is tightly form-fitted in the same shape as the pillow with the cutout area for your shoulder, which makes it almost impossible to take off or put back on the pillow. It ripped when attempting to remove it because of the force required to try to slide it off the pillow. There is no way an average strength person would ever get it back onto the pillow even with the current rip in it from the removal attempt. Plan on using a standard looser fitting pillowcase from somewhere else once you need to remove the included one for washing, etc.

I have a knot in my shoulder and a tendency towards neck stiffness/soreness because I'm a side sleeper. I've tried "firm" pillows, bamboo, etc.. wasn't crazy about any of them. This pillow is working really well for me so far. The shoulder notch means my head and neck are completely supported, without shoving a bunched up pillow under my face. I think it has a good balance between support and cushiness. I normally can't stand memory foam; I find it hot and stifling. The gel side on this pillow is seriously cool to the touch. It warms up after I've been laying on it all night, but it's still comfortable- unlike plain foam. We'll see how it goes in the summer... I'm still getting get used to it, but I've been using it for about a week and I feel like I'm sleeping better and my neck soreness is easing up. It was hard for me to spend $40 on a pillow (usually $6 or so at you-know-where) but I think this is going to be a worthwhile investment.

I rarely leave negative reviews but this pillow necessitated it. The build quality is great but it’s poorly designed for a human being. I read in one of the reviews by a woman that it was “too tall for her” and that it “might be better for someone with broader shoulders” I’m here to tell you that’s not true. I’m easilt in the top 10th percentile of large shouldered people, and my head is massive and heavy, and this pillow held my head so high off the bed that I couldn’t even sleep with it for five minutes. I really wanted this pillow to work. I love the IDEA of a pillow with a shoulder cutout and everything about it is great but the engineers couldn’t be bothered to test the darn thing before putting it on Amazon. If you like your head being held off the bed at A steep 45 degree angle then totally buy this pillow. It’s far too tall and too firm to be broken in, I have no recourse but to return it.

Switched from a stuffed pillow with a foam core to this. The old pillow was always too puffy for my taste (even after it tore and lost some stuffing) and tended to bunch up even more as I toss and turn, causing my neck to bend upwards resulting in some discomfort several mornings eventually culminating in excruciating pain for two days before I decided to buy this one. This pillow is just the right height to keep my head supported evenly with my spine and I haven't had any neck or shoulder pain for months. Not sure if the shoulder cut out really helps, but it is otherwise just what I needed. Took a week to get used to the new feel, but I now sleep more comfortably than ever. The cooling pad doesn't really seem to help a lot, but I sleep on the other side since it's softer. And since I've seen other people mention it: I did not experience any unusual smell. When I unfolded it from the package, I let it sit out flat in the middle of the room for a few days uncovered. I can't recommend this pillow enough.

I like this pillow a lot. The cooling gel really is cool, though it eventually does warm up a bit with body temperature. I think it is just the right thickness for side sleeping - you put your shoulder in the notch, arm under pillow, it's thick enough not to feel your arm under the pillow, and the memory foam keeps my arm from falling asleep. And it's not so thick that you end up sleeping with your head at a 45 degree angle to your neck. I didn't notice any chemical smell. Definitely my new favorite pillow. I'm tempted to buy a dozen so I have a lifetime supply in case I can't find these any more in the future.
