Review: Excellent growth despite challenging environment - My new house came with a lawn full of weeds and I didn’t get a chance to start treating the yard until mid-October. By this point in the season, you’ve pretty much missed the chance to overhaul the lawn, especially since my yard is almost entirely in the shade through fall and winter. But I decided to try anyway… Killed off the weeds and waited 2 weeks to lay this grass seed. Laid the seed and starter fertilizer on October 25, 2021. First picture is from November 1st and no sign of grass yet; it took about 2 weeks to start seeing signs of germination. Second picture is from 4 weeks after seeding and there is patchy, but decent signs of growth that continued slowly in December. The grass held up through a few nasty snow storms in the winter. Third picture is from March 2022 after I cleaned up the winter debris and over seeded and filled in bare spots. By April, almost all bare spots were filled and very few weeds had popped up. This grass is phenomenal. It grew under dark and cold conditions and is now in the full sun during spring and summer. It is holding up under both conditions well and has yet to lose its color. My yard is now the talk of the neighborhood; am surrounded by gardening nuts and everyone was horrified when I killed off my patch of weeds to plant this last fall. But they all love how this is growing now and keep asking me for tips and tricks for how I keep the grass as green as it is. It’s all about the seed and this one is great. We are expecting significant sewer line work in the summer that’s going to result in them tearing up this gorgeous lawn, so I already bought a new bag of this seed so that I can reestablish the lawn. It’s truly beautiful and healthy grass - I highly recommend it!
Review: Give it time. Thick lush growth. - I have tried over 6 different Tall Fescue mixes on my lawn this summer. They all grew nicely despite being planted in the middle of a relatively hot upstate New York summer (when almost all the 'experts' say you should not plant new seed). Of all the seeds planted, which range from the household names you find in the big box stores to premium seeds that are approximately double the price, this GreenView Turf Type Tall Fescue Sun & Shade blend by far APPEARS to be the thickest, healthiest, greenest, and most durable of the bunch. I have one more seed I am going to try when I overseed a section of my lawn in the next week or two, and I will update this review if that seed outperforms Greenview. But right now this seed has taken longer to germinate than all of the others I have tried (closer to 2 weeks vs. 4 days for the quickest of the household name seeds), but it’s worth the wait. The grass has come in beautiful and nearly 2x thicker than the other brands. 2x thicker and 2x the price = the same price for the same coverage, plus Greenview is lusher and looks much more durable. I will use again regardless of how my final seed test turns out.

**Q: Do you need to put down a starter fertilizer?   what kind**
A: I didn’t use a starter fertilizer. I applied it in the fall after detaching and aerating. This spring it grew prolifically and has nicely with stood the heat and dry weather.

I decided to test three grass seed products this fall. In one area of my yard I planted Scotts, in a second I planted Pennington, and in a third i planted Greenview. I carefully prepped my soil for nearly a week prior to seeding. I added fresh screened compost and starter fertilizer. I then sowed the various seed varieties and vigilantly kept the soil in each area moist for three weeks. The result was three pretty nice lawns. Truthfully, I am pleased with the performance of all three seed products. The Greenview lawn, however, stands out. It appears significantly thicker and it has a super rich green color that my neighbors have even complimented. Greenview is a little pricier than the other two products so if you’re on a tight budget I am confident you will be pleased with whatever product is on sale. I wouldn’t hesitate buying any of these products, however for a few dollars more, I assure you that you will love your Greenview lawn. I highly recommend this product.
