Had to make three color cupcakes. This worked well to make three color rosettes on the tops. The only thing is it is a little difficult holding and squeezing three bags. If you have small hands like mine it is a bit of challenge.

We did a Nerf themed birthday party for my son and wanted to try this out. I am not a baker, and I am not a crafty person. This was pretty easy to use. I cut about 1.25” off the tip of the pastry bag, rolled the bag all the way down, and then pushed the frosting tip through. There are little grips on the side to hold the bag in place. It clipped together pretty easy and then I filled it with frosting after putting it together. Squeezing out the frosting gave me multiple hand cramps but it was worth it. I used Walton’s buttercream white frosting that I bought on Amazon with it and the Wilton gel dye. Also picked up the cupcake toppers on Amazon, too. Overall I’m pleased with it, and the 13 yr old kids even said the cake was ‘cool’. Would definitely buy again.

This is a very nice addition to my cake decorating arsenal. The unit makes very nice swirled icing designs. (See the Wilton website for examples). It is a bit difficult and unwieldy to assemble and use, but makes excellent designs. Especially nice to use with the new color system that Wilton has developed. Even if you have little to no experience decorating a cake, or cupcakes this unit make it easy. Please read the instructions on the Wilton website before purchasing. The package comes with two tips and several bags, so you are ready to go, but it only uses the larger style tips.

This was so easy to use three colors for my Italian butter cream frosting on my cupcakes! This will be for our wedding. I don't know about using only two colors But fiance said they looked beautiful! Some people said they had problems with it but I did not. Beautiful end results!!

I have no idea why other people have had problems with this - if you follow the directions, it works great! I assembled it with no problems, made some fresh buttercream frosting, and it required relatively little effort to extrude. The directions tell you to assemble the device with the bags before you put any frosting in them and make sure that the three nozzles are keyed together correctly - otherwise, the threads don't line up and I doubt that they will even fit together flush like they are supposed to. I feel like store-bought icing is too viscous to be used with this device - I've always found those very difficult to work with in general. Freshly made buttercream at room temperature worked great for me - I just rolled the bags up together at the top like a kayaking dry bag, and the look and consistency of the final product was perfect on the first try (photo attached). The directions do say that you can use just two nozzles, but this doesn't make any sense to me - of course the frosting is going to come out the path of least resistance, so partially through the tip and partially backwards through the third nozzle. This just seems like common sense to me.

This was literally my first time piping icing onto cupcakes and they turned out better than expected! It took me a little while to cut, fill and connect all the bags - mostly because I was super nervous about messing everything up! I placed the connected bags into a big, empty cup to make them easier to fill, pushed the icing down and then twisted the bags closed at the top. It was somewhat bulky and a little heavy to hold, but I was able to manage (probably my fault for putting too much icing in but I didn't want to have to fill the bags a second time). I didn't have any issues with the bags breaking or bursting. The changing of the tip was super easy as well. All in all, I would recommend. With a little patience and practice, this is well worth it.
