Halogen Electronic Dimmable Transformer 120VAC to 12VAC 230W MAX Fits Wang House WH-2301S American-De Rosa D3083

I used this to bring back my Ikea halogen cable lighting system back from the dead. I had two of the OEM transformers die on me. It fits within the original case with room to spare, replacing the original transformer. Some additional soldering/wiring was required to retrofit but it works without a problem and fits perfectly with the central post going through the hole in the transformer. I also wired the breaker in line that was there originally. I've currently got 6 lights running at 20W each and no issues. I'm ordering another now to replace another dead transformer in another set. I believe the model of lighting was Descenium. Addition 11/17/17 - Be aware that these units produce A LOT of RFI. I spent two weeks trying to track down issues with my amateur radio reception. The attached photos show the transformer powered up followed by powered off where the RFI is gone. It completely washed out most of all signals across a very large frequency spectrum. That said, I've had no other issues and performance has been solid. I'm keeping the five star rating since it does what it should, but now have to turn the lights off occasionally.

This transformer is a piece of crap! I installed it in the bridged configuration (230W) to maximize the threshold for my low voltage 2 pendant/2 spot light track light fixture (4 × 35W = 140W), which should have easily managed the load however, after about three weeks, the transformer began to flicker just as the original one had, which, by the way, was four years old before it bit the big one! The frustrating factor in looking for any guality transformer, is that not one reviewer has used the item for any reasonable length of time before leaving a review, so a large number of reviews are useless in describing the true quality of these units. I have purchased three different transformers on Amazon over the past couple of years, and I can say, without a doubt, not one transformer I have purchased on Amazon has lasted for any reasonable period of time! I am reluctently purchasing one more "different" brand of transformer and will review it when I have had it installed for a significant period of time to give an honest and accurate rating of performamce. Buyer Beware!

Update: 5-Feb-2919 I discovered I had a bad bulb closest to the transformer that was causing the problems I experienced. Swapped out the bulb no more problems. I’d give this 5 Star if the wiring directions were better/explicit and the referenced website actually worked for more information. (End of update) This is my 2nd transformer. The original lasted over 6 years. This one is failing after 3.5 months. I have five 35W halogens on the track. They periodically dim then return to brightness, then dim. The dimming is random. The 6 year old transformer was doing the same for a week or two so I ordered this as an exact replacement (exact aside from the wiring being sightly different.) For wiring and other information, the packaging referred the buyer to their website; I found absolutely nothing useful. I do see that the majority of reviewers are happy. Maybe I got a lemon? I contacted Express Lighting today (27-Dec-2018) and awaiting a response. I'll update this review based on how Express Lighting handles my email.

The transformer sent was not the one in the picture. However, prior to arriving I received an email from the seller explaining the new one is the same and simply has less wires. It went in and fit perfect and operates perfectly for now. Let’s hope the stars don’t fall

Was an exact replacement for the transformer that went bad. Works perfectly the light is in my kitchen and it’s constantly on.

Larger than I expected or the one it replaced. Easy install. The hole in the center makes the install a breeze. Highly recomend
