It's a keeper.
It's a pretty cool - ok - awesome & fun - game. The graphics kick ass, the game play is good. While it's not exactly like the Doom or Wolfenstein of yesterday where you just wandered thru a level at will dispatching enemies and reaching the level endpoint, it's still fun. Another reviewer mentioned that "it's not a game; it's to a "to-do list", it's true that the game does have a certain linearity to it with objectives to accomplish very much a la SOCOM style. But that doesn't make it any less fun or enjoyable because they're still plenty of old-game style action while accomplishing said objectives. You still look for hidden areas, find hidden "stuff" like the old days it's just on a more linear way. And you have a blast in the process. The only real issue I had with it is that the controls are "wards-back" (backwards). Most FPSes use R1 to fire, and R2 for weapons select (think Socom, Killzone, etc). This one filps 'em , making for an annoying adjustment period while your get your brain re-adjusted. And even then you can get tripped up in a melee or heat of the action. And while I'm only half way thru, there is replay value apparently because the course of the game alters based on certain decisions you make during gameplay. I also have to agree with one of the other reviewers that the sex cut-scene was unnecessary as it added nothing to either the story or the game play. So I'll zing the makers on that. But overall, it's far worth the $15 for Amazon's warehouse deals/overstock. 103 people found it 4 or 5 stars, and the other 22, well... whatever.

Slight spoiler: gameplay may vary
I'm maybe halfway through this installment in the Wolfenstein series of games. This game is fine. The graphics are great, the storyline isn't bad, the gameplay is clunky and the controls are not intuitive. The levels aren't very inspired and the developer seemed to get stuck trying to decide whether to make this an open world game or a linear game. They didn't succeed on either front (just like Hitler in WWII, amirite?) and the game suffers for it. Some of the levels are downright tedious. Take the incarceration in the Nazi prison where you literally are stuck in an assembly-line, manipulating a machine that makes .... something. Concrete? Helmets? Who cares? I don't know who thought that would be a fine idea for a setting but it's boring as hell. Adding to my "fun" was the decision to not create a multiplayer part of this game. I guess when you've built your reputation as a franchise that creates amazing multiplayer experiences (Doom, Original Wolfenstein, etc) you just have to start branching out into cutting corners. The explanation given that the developers didn't want to take away resources from the single player experience just tells me that this was yet another mis-managed project. Fine, I bought the game knowing that but I still feel that this offering suffers for it, and not just in terms of consumer experience. Look at all the other games which offer multiplayer and sell DLC or allow perks to be collected/purchased and tell me that Bethesda and not-id made a smart decision.

This game.... This game...
So I was hesitant to buy this game. I watched gameplay on youtube. Read reviews. I did my research as games are not cheap. I do not have a ps4 and this game is out for current and next gem systems. So i decided to to get this for my ps3. If you are, in any way doubting this purchase for the ps3, do not fret. This is a beautiful game. Through and through. The gameplay is fantastic. The pacing is fantastic. The guns sound real. Loud and destructive, and if you think this a pure 'run and gun' game, you would be mistaken. Some parts are pure survival. You, a knife and a bunch of nazis, If you want my opinion, this is the best wolfenstein to date. It doesn't pull any punches. It takes the hard truth of the past and makes you watch. makes you a witness to the atrocities. There is a scene with a baby...... I will not say no more on that. I like games that make you think and feel. I usually do not post reviews, but this game deserved it.

Wolfenstein - The New Order
This is a great game in the Wolfenstein series. New story line and outstanding graphics, new villains, monster robots, storm troopers and hounds. I have played the Wolfenstein games since the original Wolfenstien 3D came out. In fact during the latest version there is a hidden "Nightmare" that takes you back and allows you to play the to the 3D version and you play it for several minutes, it is hilarious to compare and see just how far the graphics capabilities have come. I would highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoys fast action play, outstanding graphics and many surprising twists and turns, not to mention things jumping out at you and scaring the wits out of you. Order it today you won't be sorry.

A superb First Person Shooter with a unique take on gameplay, characters and narration of story!
'Wolfenstein: The New Order' is (in my opinion) one of those rare First Person Shooters with a very engaging, gripping and emotional story to it. I'll be honest, my expectations weren't exactly high when I first saw its debut at E3. It looked like a typical run-and-gun, shoot 'em up FPS. But after playing the first 3 or 4 chapters, I see that Bethesda and Machinegames really pushed the envelope with this imagining of the world if the Nazis had won WW2. The gameplay is very responsive, very smooth (although the weapon wheel doesn't want to choose the weapon I highlight) and frantic. The guns feel balanced out perfectly. You don't feel too powerful nor powerless. Enemy A.I. is smart overall. They tend to draw you out of cover tossing frag grenades and tesla grenades right at your feet. Although, sometimes they'll charge you in the blink of an eye but can be disposed of with a proper melee attack. They'll sick robotic dogs (Panzerhunds) to make you run out of cover. I have encountered enemies hiding behind cover that was no longer there and sit there, allowing me to take them down. But not every encounter is all-out guns blazing. There are stealth opportunities for you if you are the silent type, which changes the pacing - in a good way, of course. I will return with a finished review after I complete the Campaign and get 100% completion. *Update 5/24/14* After completing a larger portion of the campaign, I noticed that the enemy difficulty seems to spike (drastically). The Nazis seem to have double firepower and can take double punishment. Maybe it's because I am playing on the difficulty "Bring 'Em On!" but I noticed they seem to be more difficult in certain scenarios and extremely easy in others. The stealth sections are still fun and are beginning to get even more tense... not to mention the enemy sends out CQC Nazis armed with extra armor and a powerful shotgun (My advice, take out the Field Commanders first then take out the CQC hostile). Oh, and always check EVERY possible nook and cranny... weapon upgradrs and some other hidden goodies wait to be discovered to help aid you throughout the campaign. The story is starting to take turns I didn't expect, to be honest. Some of it is good, others... kind of out of place, in my opinion. I'm just over the halfway marker and I'm feeling sorta down that the campaign is coming to a close... but I will be overjoyed to accomplish it (especially out of all the times I succumbed to being shot in the back). Also, the campaign has tons of collectibles scattered throughout its chapters. From Enigma codes, that unlock gameplay modes for the campaign to hidden records that are originally sang in English, now sang in German - which is pretty fitting, due to the situation of the story. There's concept art, character models/bios, and a couple Easter eggs to find. All are very cool and well done. My next update will be my final verdice of the game. Cheers! I have finally finished Wolfenstein: The New Order... and it was worth my $60! First off, it's strictly a single player campaign. For those looking for a co-operative/multiplayer game, this will disappoint BUT there is a great deal of entertainment for just a single player game. The narration actually feels like it was developed by Tarentino. The developers really put A LOT of time and effort into the story, characters and gameplay. Note, this is the PS3 version, I am well aware of the graphical differences and extended load times, but those small detail didn't stop me from having an amazing time with Wolfenstein: The New Order. Story: 4.0 out of 5 The Nazis have beaten the United States to the Atom Bomb and used it to win World War II. Now, you, William B.J. Blaskowicz and what's left of the resistance, must stop the Nazis from taking over the rest of the world and enslaving the rest of mankind! I'm not good at setting the "mood" but that's the centre of the story, but not the main highlight. The main highlight (to me) was how the story connects you to the world and its interesting characters. It feels... different but in a good way. Anywhere from saving them from a prison, to meeting a resistance member. It's not Fallout 3 in-depth, but it's still there and not everyone is an emotionless robot. (I forgot to mention that there a re a few parts in the campaign that seem to jump around and I thought it was a bit lazy.) Gameplay: 5.0 out of 5. The gunplay feels familiar and different. You can go classic Wolfenstein and duel-wield your way through Nazi forces like they're nothing. Then, you come to the stealth sections. These sections remind me of Splinter Cell: Conviction. You get caught, you're gonna have a ton of enemies barreling down on top of you. But you can avoid that by taking out the Field Commanders first. If they spot you and alert the rest, enemy reinforcements will continue to attack until the Field Commander is dealt with. There is also a perk system/tree that feels foreign (somewhat) but it feels natural at the same time. There 4 types of perk skills. Stealth, assault, tactical and demolition (I prefer tactical and demolition). You want to unlock faster duel-wield reload time? Kill a certain amount of enemies by duel-wielding assault rifles, shotguns or even snipers. Want to unlock extra grenade pouches, kill a certain amount of Nazis with a single grenade. I enjoyed this addition to combat. I felt like I had a more personal play-style than run-and-gun. Difficulty rating: 3.6 out of 5. There are 5 difficulty settings. Very easy, Easy, Normal, Hard, and über. I have only beaten it on Normal. But it still felt challenging due to random difficulty spikes that made me feel, sometimes, overwhelmed and helpless then extremely powerful and a total badass. Certain enemies can be a pain such as CQC Nazis, who are shotgun happy and very dangerous! Not to mention heavy gunners who tote around minimums firing at you without any hesitation. They're not 'too' hard, they each require different tactics on taking them down. You have cybernetic dogs who are very sensitive to hearing and and can rip your throat out if your not careful. They certainly don't feel like weak enemies like Call Of Duty's dogs, but once again, not too hard to take down. Final verdict: 8.9 out of 10.0. I'm not a graphics whore so that's why I didn't dive into the graphics components deeper. But there are pop-in texture and faded colors but, that's only on PS3 (that I know of). I'll update this page when the Doom 4 beta launches and I get my hands on it. I hope this helped in some way. Until the next review guys. Cheers! Also, the soundtrack of this game... magnificent!

Fast Paced Fun Game - Some Quirky Controls Using R3/L3 buttons for PS3 Take Practice
Fast paced game that is pretty solid fun. Some control issues, especially in the opening chapter where you have to run/jump. My controllers didn't want to respond to the R3/L3 button push and I tried multiple PS3 controllers. Had to google a solution and I'm not the only one with that problem. Turns out there is a simple solution but I wish the developers would have been a little more forgiving. I'm about halfway through now and haven't had a problem since so I think it's just the opening chapter where you jump to the plane that is tricky.

Boring, predictable and makes a good sleep aid too!
The original Wolfenstein on the PS2, was really a great game with tons of interesting monsters, challenging situations and amazing scenery, both above and below the earth! Wish they would of added it verbatim, as a game on PS3, but of course, they didn't, just made a crappy sequel.....And now we have another (actually 3 total, plus the original on PS3!) crappy, predictable, sequel, but with pretty good graphics.....But, I find it to be BORING and just like the last sequel, "predictable play"! And I have no desire to ever play it again, if I even last through it to the end! Sorry folks, but it sucks the Big Kahuna and I should've given it a one, but for the pretty nice graphics, buildings, landscape, etc. The only saving grace it has and even those could've been better! The tearing notzi's apart while shooting them, is good.....for about 5 minutes and then, it just is so easy to do (yawn!) The "looking through the house" for toys, papers, gadgets, etc., oh my god, it just adds nothing to the game, but more frustration and boredom. All and all, I give it a "two out of a possible ten" score! Don't waste your money on this!

Pretty good
Overall pretty good, the alternate story lines are a little weird and probably could have gone without, but I enjoyed the play-through.
