Chelated iron applied at the drip-line of the yellowish-green part of the tree greens them up after the next rainfall. This treatment has worked consistently over the past 14 years. Chelated iron is not cheap, but a 5 lb. bag will treat several trees for about 5 years. It is a very fine powder (about like body powder, but yellowish orange) and a little goes a long way. It stores well in an airtight container (like a coffee can, metal or plastic) and is stable on the ground until the next rain. Post oaks are beautiful trees, but strange in that the tree as a whole can be healthy with only a portion of the canopy looking peeked.
