They work great for situations where you are going to feel like you need to hit something WAY TOO HARD to get parts separated, and without marring, bending or scuffing - supposing you use appropriate protection (i.e., towel or rag) depending on the nature of the part's finish. I am glad I got all 3 sizes in one order because a) the price per unit is lower, b) they don't take up too much space as a set and 3) they get the job done. FWIW in case it helps, the MAIN task I purchased them for was banging the wheel assembly off an office chair. When you have sat in a standard rolling office chair for an extended length of time, the parts tend to get so tightly attached that the amount of force required to separate them seems almost excessive. I've used them to slowly knock brake calipers off of car/truck axels as well, and the smallest one is good for "gently" tapping a part of separated home furniture either on or off. Last note: They are constructed as such - Outer plasticized/rubberized thick-ish covering, inner metal and the head part of the inner metal has a hollow chamber that is filled with tiny dense metal bbs - I doubt lead, probably another metal, but same point. So you can moderate the force with which the head hits whatever you're striking in multiple ways unlike a typical metal headed (or rubber) mallet. Pretty cool idea.

When my wife needed a hammer to crush food bones and could be cleaned in the dishwasher, this was perfect. It packs a whallop and cleans up nicely.

The price is great for this set of Dead Blow Hammers and the quality seems good so far I have no complaints....

Almost 5 stars - There are a lot of sharp edges on the handle surface (needing to be de-burred). Other than that good build quality.

I debated back and forth on which size to get. Pretty much made my mind up on the one pound dead blow hammer and so happy i went with the 2 pound. A little heavier than my framing hammer but nicely weighted. I wish i would have purchased one of these a long time ago. All those busted knuckles and ruined rotors could have been avoided. I use this much more than i expected. From closing paint cans to nudging a piece of wood into place. I actually thought it would only be useful working on the cars but i was wrong. I imagine there are nicer ones out there that i will probably eventually get but for now thing dead blow hammer is in my top twenty favorite tools. I would not bother looking any further. I am pretty picky about my tools and can appreciate a high dollar wrench or ratchet but for what i need this for I would not have the heart to beat up a fifty dollar dead blow. Perfect!

Good deadblow hammer seems durable well made bright color easy to find works plastic surface is tuff enough to last good use for tent stakes

This shot peen is well made and well balanced. This is the right weight for most all mechanical projects.
