This product works great for me, catches hundreds of mosquitos in my suburban 1/4 acre. I would like to recommend that you DO purchase and replace the octenol on time, but DO NOT purchase a new capture net each time you replace the octenol as the manufacturer would like you to. Just buy two capture net "bags" to rotate them with filling and emptying. When you remove the used bag, let it sit for a day in the sun to kill any live bugs in it, then just use some canned air to loosen the dead mosquitos from the screening and simply open the top and pour the dead mosquitos out.

I am sorely disappointed. I thought it was supposed to be the whole unit and not just a net. The advertised images show the whole unit rather than just the net. I was really excited to receive but only opened it to my disappointment that it is just the net. I cannot use the net for anything without the machine. Have to find one and place new orders.

Great product

This mosquito trap works well the first season. However, unless you ship your trap off for an expensive tune-up every year, the suction decreases (which decreases your catch) and ultimately the trap won’t start, requiring a pricey repair. It’s also expensive to operate as you need to buy 20 lb. of propane, an attractant cartridge, and a capture net every three weeks. I’ve had 5 of these over the last 10 years but my last two are destined for the dump. I’ve switched to the Catchmaster Oasis Ovi-Mini Mosquito Trap, more effective and much less expensive than a Mosquito Magnet.

Septique au debut, je me suis laissé 3 semaines pour me faire une idée. Je valide ce produit qui a attrapé 942 moustiques sur les 21 jours! J'avais hésité avec son concurrent beaucoup plus cher et fonctionnant au CO2 (ce que je trouvais contraignant). Il fait le job sans soucis. Beaucoup moins de moustiques dans les environs. J'étais littéralement envahit. Il en reste, mais la différence est flagrante. Je précise que je l'ai actionné très tard dans la saison. J'ai changé les 2 appâts au bout de 22 jours comme préconisé, il reste du gaz, la bouteille va faire 1 mois sans soucis. Bref je recommande ce produit!

I have two of these machines. Both have tremendously alleviated the amount of black flies and mosquitos we get in our home in New Brunswick--our first summer here was brutal: we could not go out, even wearing "deep woods" repellent, as mosquitoes and flies would still swarm around you, hitting your face, head or arms (I guess trying to land on a spot without repellent to bite you). The use of these machines, together with other strategies has reduced the amount of these prehistoric beasts in at least 95% of what we had. Yeah, we are still not bug free, but I guess we do not have Florida's Disneyland budget to be mosquito free. Anyway, this is the 4th year with our machines and they continue to perform as expected, just ensure you do proper maintenance every time when you change a propane tank (i.e. clean or replace your filters, use the CO2 cartridges to clear the lines, add new attractant, store indoors during the winter...and last, but not least, place your machines in the right spot and where you can increase your catch). Depuis le début de l'été nous avons installé ce dispositif sur notre terrasse. Nous n'avons constaté aucune diminution du nombre de moustique. En en parlant avec nos voisins, nous n'avons pas du tout l'impression d'en avoir moins qu'eux... Le filtre reste quasiment vide alors que nous, nous nous faisons "attaqués" par des nuées de moustiques. j'avais lu qu'il fallait attendre plusieurs semaines pour constater l'efficacité (le temps que le cycle de reproduction soit perturbé), mais même après plusieurs semaines, aucune efficacité n'est constatée. Etant donné le prix, nous sommes réellement très déçus.
