Inexpensive With Plenty of Capability
I am very happy with this after having used it extensively for the last couple of weeks. A perk of my profession is that I get to use really expensive and capable test equipment at work but I wanted some of that capability for my hobby projects. That said I went into this purchase not expecting professional quality gear. My expectation was for hobby equipment and I feel like this product fulfills that expectation quite well. There is plenty out on the web regarding what this does and does not do, so I won't rehash that here. I will say that there are many firmware available for this and some do different things, or do some of the same things differently. In any case, you will likely want to update the firmware on this or try one of the others. It is quite easy to do. This particular unit came in a plastic case with a couple of cables, an SMA F to F barrel, and the terminations for calibration. A USB cable is also included along with a nice stylus, something that is absolutely a must for the operation of the touchscreen. Everything you need to get started is here except documentation. That's reasonable because any documentation will be specific to firmware and firmware changes often. So you'll get that yourself electronically and you'll likely want to watch some videos as well to get up to speed on the operation of it. The included plastic case might be ok for some, but I recommend you put this into some more robust storage when not in use. At this price what you are getting is somewhat delicate and exposed. That's fine for a reasonably clean bench. I've even used it with care in the field. Just know that this isn't something you're going to casually throw in the tool bag, you're going to want to protect this. So far I have enjoyed using this for a number of tasks including: sweep antennas, tune filters, tune antenna traps, measure inductors, measure capacitors, and so much experimentation with tuned circuits. Not only has it increased my productivity on my hobby bench, it's really helped me to learn some concepts and reinforce others. What a pleasure to be able to do that without worry because if I harm this thing in the process that's a whole lot different than playing around with my professional test equipment at work that costs tens of thousands of dollars. In conclusion, this is a nice inexpensive bit of kit that produces reasonable results for the hobbyist. I am quite pleased with it.

A solid way to test the performance of an antenna across a broad range of frequencies
This is my second NaniVNA H4 after my first died a couple years after purchase. I suspect the reason the old one broke was lack of care on my part with static on connecting antennas, since it effectively a radio receiver (with a built-in signal generator) and I'm plugging in random antennas to test. I replaced my broken one with this and it's as good as the previous one. I understand this is one of the "recommended" vendors in that they support they open hardware project so I bought this rather than a cheap copy that doesn't respect the open project. The water resistant hard case is a very nice improvement over my previous model (stored in a cardboard box). The screen size is much better than the cheap 3" previous models, the screen alone is very usable for testing and the whole device works well over USB with at least one Android app. A solid way to test the performance of an antenna across a broad range of frequencies. Very many properties can be tested, even cable length to the point of failure if you have a suspected cable break.

A no brainer purchase for anyone installing or building antennas
Antenna theory is complex and I've found that this little thing allows me to get away with just knowing the basics. Let's face it, it's easier to randomly move things around or tweak a design to find the best SWR than it is to understand what to do to get the best SWR. Significantly better for SWR than an SWR meter, because you see the whole curve. If you're tuning to a specific frequency it's not just what the SWR is at that point, it's where it is above and below. Can't imagine doing with out it.

ANTENNA BUILDERS AND TUNERS BEST TOOL-THE ORIGINAL
NICE ITEM,THIS NANOVNA IS THE ORIGINAL DESIGNED ONE.NOT THE KNOCKOFF.IT IS A GOTTA HAVE FOR ALL YOU OUT THERE THAT LIKE TO TUNE YOUR ANTENNAS TO AN EXACT FREQ WITH GREAT VSWR EASILY.IT DOES MANY MORE THINGS THAN THAT BUT MOST OF YOU OUT THERE WILL PROBABLY WANT O JUST GET THAT ANTENNA TO MATCH AND CHECK TO SEE IF IT PERFORMS AS ADVERTISED ON THOSE FREQ THEY HAVE LISTED.IT HAS A SLIGHT LEARNING CURVE SO DONT GET FRUSTRATED AND SEND BACK BECAUSE YOU WILL FIND THAT YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY WITH IT ONCE YOU KNOW THE BASICS.ITS A VERY VALUABLE TOOL FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO MAKE THEIR OWN ANTENNAS AND TUNE THEM TO THE FREQ THEY WANT.GO ONLINE AND GOOGLE HOW TO TEST SWR ON NANOVNA AND SAVE IT SO THAT EVERYTIME YOU TURN UNIT ON IT WILL BE READY TO GO FOR ANY TEST AS LONG AS YOU SAVE IT WITHIN THE FREQ RANGE YOU USE AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO CALIBRATE IT EACH TIME YOU TURN ON.IF YOU SAVE YOUR SETTINGS IN BANK 0 IT WILL ALWAYS SHOW THOSE SETTINGS EACH TIME YOU TURN UNIT ON SO THAT IS QUICK AND FAST.IT REALLY IS VERY EASY TO LEARN TO USE IF YOU JUST WATCH A FEW VIDEOS ON YOU-TUBE...SO GO CHECK IT OUT YOU REALLY WONT BE DISAPPOINTED AND YOU WILL SOON FIND OUT THAT YOU WONDER HOW YOU GOT ALONG WITHOUT IT.

Up to date software and hardware
I purchased this on the advice of a friend who doesn’t have a technical education, but who has immersed himself in antenna and transmission line theory and construction in recent years. It’s easy to use (if you know how) and invaluable for constructing and testing antennas, RF transformers, and a lot more. The kit comes with everything you need for calibration and for connecting to a PL-259 terminated cable. I’d add a dual SO-239 barrel connector and an to BNC or SMC to BNC connector to have a complete RF test kit for Amateur Radio applications. Those constructing antennas for FM and HDTV broadcast should add an SMC to F adapter. While there are no real instructions provided, there are a ton of good videos on YouTube that will guide you through calibration and testing, and several books available that can guide you through more complex measurements.

Great tool for Ham Radio
Needed an antenna analyzer to recenter a vertical resonant frequency on 75 Meters as well as check all other bands I’m using. The MFJ is good but $400 was beyond my price point. So, opted for this nanoVNA analyzer. After calibrating the unit and storing the calibrations for each band on an SD card, was able to easily recall those and test antenna at the antenna instead of running back and forth to view an SWR bridge. Every bit worth the expense. And suggest adding some extra SMA to PL adapters as recommended in the purchase. Note, an SD card proved quite valuable in making this more efficient. My process was (1) set the stimulus (lower and upper) frequency range in MHZ (no need for center). (2) then calibrate the Open, Short, and Load and save that - I saved each calibration to the SD card as 144-148Calibrate or 28.3-28.8Calibrate or 3.85-3.95Calibrate etc. (3) connected nanoVNA to the antenna I wanted tested; (4) went to SD card and selected Load and then Calibrate and retrieved the previously saved calibrations for the frequency desired on antenna being tested. (5) viewer the results and narrowed down to find the lowest dip (point of resonance) for the frequency on the antenna. (6) then adjusted antenna to lengthen or shorten it to hit the resonant point I was opting for. In the photo, I’m using a coil on top of a 5BTV and wanted low SWR on 3.91hz - the VNA showed it was resonant at 3.883mhz - meaning, antenna whip on coil was too long. Shortened it about 2” and it recentered to 3.915mhz. Coils are High-Q antennas meaning very narrow bandwidth.

High Quality
Very sophisticated device for little $. Hard to say for sure, but this looks like the real deal, not a cheap clone. Well shielded RF sections. The rocker switch is a little funky and doesn't work quite smoothly (noted in user groups, with fixes) but you don't need it - use the touch screen. Even better, use the excellent free(!) NanoVNASaver program with your PC. It's so good the author should charge some $ for it to keep his interest in further improvements. Take the front plate off (easily done) to remove the plastic film from the screen. If you're taking it outside, especially in wet weather, you may wish to find a case - various options available from the usual online sources.

Wow!
Acaba de llegar. Aún no se bien como usarlo pero ya ví cuáles antenas si funcionan y cuáles no. Se requiere capacitación para entender los resultados pero es de mucha utilidad si vas a diseñar y contruir antenas de radio.

Arrived quickly, has all the accessories.
Using it to test antennas for use with Meshtastic, works great. So nice to know what's actually going on. Manufacturer didn't remove the screen protector before putting on the cover. Screen is still easy to read, so this isn't really a negative. Taking the cover off and peeling it also should be easy if I want to do that.

Nice for Price but
They are nice for testing, I love the price at $40+ CAD but they don't include adapters for bigger cables, not that important but many people use this for radio antenna and ham coax cable testing. The other big thing is there is no case all components are exposed to the elements that makes it for indoor use only. There are many tutorials online but they do not give factory settings so if you change things before you know what you are doing you have to spend a considerable amount of time figuring what these settings were... Anyway all in all a good value for the money, can't wait to use for DIY antenna's to see how precise it is... 73.

pratique
