I've replaced the plug on my EV charger multiple times. It was capable of charging at 250V or 125V. Initially I was charging at 125V and I replaced the plug multiple times because it kept looking partially melted and charred, although the power strip I was plugging it into looked worse so I thought the problem was the power strip. Eventually I realized the EV needed a better circuit because the car itself was pulling too many electrons, but since I didn't want to buy a faster EV charger right away, I bought an adapter and got this plug to convert the cable to 250V. It was a much easier plug to install than the previous ones. The wires screwed in more easily. The screws pulled the parts of the plug together easier and without any of them stripping. It feels solid in my hand. I expected it to be more like the previous plugs and was pleasantly surprised.

This is a quality plug, very well constructed. I used a 10 gauge wire with it. I did have to trim the clamp that holds the wire due to the thickness of my wire, not a problem though.

I purchased a CNC machine that uses the NEMA 6 plug as a standard. I went ahead and converted my other 220 volt single phase machines to this plug type. This plug is a dream to install. Very well designed. Very safe. Sturdy!!! I expect many years of safe service.

This plug works fine and I bought the cheapest one on Amazon…it’s brittle plastic with none of the normal adjustments of nicer plugs (ie the cord clamp doesn’t have shims etc). It’ll work but I expect the first time it gets dropped on the shop floor I’ll have to replace it.
