CD ALBUM Review: Lovely Debut Album. - Okay I'll admit it! When I first heard this album, I wasn't really into it at all! I prefered her lastest albums rather than going back to when she first started out. But one day, I decided to give it one more try as a dedicated fan. And so far...I haven't regretted it since! If I had to be honest, the album itself isn't completely great. It was very bland to me considering I was always into her latest j-pop works--so this album came as a complete shock to me. But over time, I then realized that it was that blandness made this album worth listening to. The songs themselves have a strange innocent vibe to them...almost as though Ayu was a bit hesitant when recording these tracks. But surprisely, I think this suited the album very well. And when listening to the lyrics, I could actually feel the words touching my heart. Making me tear up and think about the downsides of life. Not many artists can do that to me. And for a debut album to stir that much emotion within me is a pretty big deal! The album has grown on me. I love the style within this album. I love the simple tracks and beats...it's so innocent compared to her works now! But the ones that stood out the most for me were: "Prologue" "You" "As If..." "A Song For XX" "Hana" "Trust" "Depend on You" "From Your Letter" "Signal" and finally "Poker Face". This album was exceptionally well done for a debut album. You can tell that Ayu poured her heart and soul into creating this beautiful piece of artwork called music. Although this isn't my most favorite album from her, I still find myself drawn to this album more than anything else. To me, this is something you can't pass up....something you'll treasure greatly until the end of time. Review: Ayu's 1st album - This is Ayu's 1st album. It is an excellent piece of work. And it became a bestseller. My favorite. Her full name is Ayumi Hamasaki. Not "K"amasaki.

If Max Martin met Chuck Palahniuk, the collaboration would resemble Ayumi's debut effort
If Max Martin met Chuck Palahniuk, the collaboration would resemble Ayumi's debut effort. Themes touched upon in this album range from dead-beat fathers to full blown existentialism. On first glance, the songs seem like any late 90's pop act; however, beneath the synthesizers and flashy production, Ayumi's raw, poignant lyrics reach out to the Holden Caulfield in everyone. The song 'Poker Face', Ayumi's first major hit, touches upon the subject of loneliness, and self-worth; obviously drawn from Ayumi's rough childhood. *Even if you are not proficient in Japanese, I'd recommend downloading the English translation of her lyrics; Ayumi Hamasaki is a worthy artist; and that should be enough to surpass the language barrier.

Ayumi rules
Ayumi Hamasaki is my all time favorites j-pop artist. She writes and sings all kinds of song that I could listen to all day. If you haven't ever heard J-pop listen to this!
