Tenon Refractory Mortar, 10 Pounds

Nice refractory motar at a good price!! Only thing I caution against is using it on a very hot & humid day. I do understand that the directions caution you against using it in that type of weather and does not recommend it, but we gave it a shot anyways cuz we were kinda on a time frame to get a specific job done. It ended up working out pretty well, but I recommend if you do like we did and use this product in the hot weather, that you keep the hose or a bucket of water close by to prevent motar setting up to quickly!! We learned quickly to keep adding a little bit of water and it keeps the motar smooth & workable. This mortar will definitely set up quickly in the heat. Functionality: Works very well & easy to use when mixed well and kept moist.

Sets up quick, I found the work time to be about 20 minutes, so I made up small batches for a Stone Age Fireplace that I am building. It seems to be a very good product, especially for the price.

Very easy to work with compared to other brands. It was super easy to mix up. Only time will tell if it holds up so I’ll update the review if things change but really enjoyed working with this mix. It was on par with going rate and though it wasn’t a deal, considering the quality and quantity it ships in, I consider this a quality item at a good price.

I tried a special grout that did not work, but this mortar worked well.
