IO Crest Mini USB Powered Desktop Cooling Fan SY-ACC65055

A lot of people complain about this fan, but I don't see anything wrong with it. People should realize that you really do get what you pay for. This was $10 and easily worth the money. It's made out of plastic so it can be a little flimsy if not handled properly, but if it's resting on your desk next to you computer there should be nothing wrong with it staying intact. I also love that it plugs into any USB outlet and can be powered by this instead of a wall outlet. I even plugged this into my car stereo to see if it would work and IT DID! Another problem people complain about is the sound being too loud. I work in a cube and you can't hear this thing unless it's dead quiet in the office and your ear is right next to it. This fan provides a cool breeze when there is no air flowing through your workspace. It also provides a very dim sound that can't be heard unless you're listening for it. I like this because it helps me focus and not hear every small like creek in the office. Don't pay attention to the poor reviews, they're being over-analytical and expect a lot out of a $10 fan.

My office windows face east and the building maintenance does not turn on the AC until 8 a.m., so it's always hot in the summer mornings. This USB fan is a life saver. It provides a good airflow that keeps me cool. The unit is built well and feels substantial. The USB cable is about 24" long so I can put it just about anywhere on the desk.It does make some noise so I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5. It is a soothing white noise so I can live with it.

I am in a room with 12 PCs and a 24 port hub to my immediate left and so it can get hot. This fan was perfect in allowing me to cool down when I would start to feel hot. The fan is quiet enough that none of the other 6 people in the room knew I even had it. Some things I like about this fan are that it can easily be adjusted to the angle you would like it to be at and that it has an on/off switch so you don't have to unplug it. I would recommend this fan.Update Jan 28 '14: I bought this fan again after it was cracked in the trunk of my car and started making rattling sounds when I turned it on. The old and new fan look the same except that the new one has a short cord length of 36" compared to 43" on the old one even though the box says it should be 1.2m (~47"). The fan blades on the new one are clear while on the old one they were whiter. I still like the fan though do prefer the longer cord on the old one as it could wrap around my office phone and be out of the way.

The fan is great and fits it's function well. It is not overpowering or loud in any fashion, so it is suiting for my use at the office. Only thing is, it was shipped missing the screw and bushing on one side. It was as if they picked up an unfinished assembly and were like "Eh, good enough. In the bag you go." and shipped it on its way. The bushing is not necessary, and the hardware is easily replaced. The substitute screw I used wasn't even the proper length or pitch, but it worked just fine. The shipping was fast, considering it came from China. Two weeks if I recall.

I just received this unit today. This is of the ideal size and coolness, for a USB powered fan.Some other fans that you can buy for the USB slot can be too small, too noisy or not have this protective casing around the fan unit itself, and be prone to damage from drops, but this fan satisfies all of those standards. It is surprisingly silent, cooler than most other usb-powered fans, and is also- albeit a bit large for such a fan- very, very light.It is quite well-built, I'd say, although the box seems somewhat like from the 1970's(>_<).I am very happy with this fan, and might consider getting another for home, I am currently using it at work.

I received this a few weeks after ordering it. It came in a fairly damaged package that looked like it had been taken out of trash can and used to ship this fan. At first grab, i heard loose parts. I opened the package, and the fan was disconnected from the motor itself and was just rattling in the little plastic cage. I had to re-solder the wires from the motor to the fan itself to work. I also had to hot glue the fan back onto the plastic box housing the motor because it had been ripped off (probably through shipment).The only silver lining in any of this is that now the fan works and it blows nice cold air at a good rate and distance. I'm using it as an secondary fan for my desktop to help cool down my GPU and it's doing a fine job.Next time i'll just go to big lots and buy one locally

Was great at first- quiet, good air movement. I used it a couple hours a day for 2 months and now it's stopping and I have to tap it/wiggle it to get it working. I expect anyday now it will stop for good. It was so nice I might buy another one and hope this one lasts more than 2 months.

Simple and cheap fan, great for my warm office. USB connection is great as I don't have an outlet nearby. One big plus which I didn't see in the item description is the simple on/off switch on the back of the fan - you don't have to screw around with unplugging it from the USB outlet (often out of reach behind the PC) if you want to turn the fan off. It's pretty quiet and my cubicle neighbors can't hear it. Sufficient breeze if you're within 1-4 feet of the fan.
