PILOT Razor Point Fine Line Marker Stick Pens, Black Ink, 12-Pack

If you're a pen snob, you're not snobby enough if you're not writing with a PILOT Razor Point Fine Line Marker Stick Pens, Ultra-Fine Point (0.3mm). I absolutely love these pens. A pharmacy near campus randomly sold them when I was in college, and I randomly bought them once. They instantly became my favorite pen. I can't find them in any other store, so now I buy them on Amazon. I prefer writing with pen to writing with pencil, but I hate most pens. Ballpoint pens smear, bleed and require you to leave an impression on the page (annoying when you're righting in the notebook and previous days' notes are scratched into a blank page). Other marker pens (I'm looking at you Sharpie!) are too thick and bleed through the other side of the page. This pen writes finely, it doesn't easily show through the other side of the page, and it doesn't scratch the page unless you write incredibly heavily. My only word of caution is that you can't use these pens as easily on glossier surfaces like receipts and greeting cards. They'll write on these surfaces, but you'll have to let it draw or else it will actually smear. Other than that, these are the best pens.

It's a reunion of sorts for me with the classic Pilot Razor Point pen. I didn't know they even made these anymore! Way "back in the day", I used to doodle drawings around the edges of my notes while in class with my trusty razor point. This was during the time I was infatuated with Rapidograph pens for drawing and the Razor Point was a great approximation built for common use. These pens followed me into business (where I still doodled drawings during endless boring meetings) until I lost track of a supply. When my not-as-thrilling mass market Pilot Precise V pens started underperforming recently, I went on trusty Amazon for a solution. I was stunned to find my old friend, the Razor Point, still available. Nowadays, I use these babies for crossword puzzles. With everything shrinking in the newspapers of today, you need a seriously fine point to write with in those tiny boxes. The Razor Point always provided that and still does today. Plus, it remains one of the finest smooth-writing pens in the business. Economical but efficient, the pens still give the confident, smooth line of yesteryear. Although I've never had any problems with them, these are super-fine nibs, so if you're heavy-handed in your writing style, there is the possibility you can splay the tip and cause a sloppier line. Hard-pressers beware, this is a tool more suited to an even pressure style. Rollerballs are better for the hard-pressers. I am super pleased to have my old writing friend back. Now if I only had some classes or meetings to go to so I could doodle again!

I purchased these to use as "detailers" for pen & ink sketches. I suppose they could be used for writing, but I'd avoid doing so for the same reason as avoiding gel pens: smudging & running should the paper get wet. The ink in these dries fairly quickly, but it won't resist moisture. The writing tip size is comparable to a fine point pen - which makes them well-suited for my purposes, at least. They're also a better value than most pens intended for use in drawing, which makes them perfect for quick studies & sketches.

You don’t buy these to sign checks or do admin work. You’ll wind up smudging your signature in the fashion of felt tips everywhere. You buy them because you enjoy the friction on the paper, the look of a felt tip with a bit of a sharp edge, the depth of the ink. You simply enjoy the sensation of writing or drawing with one. A rollerball is for your clients; a Pilot Razor Point is for you.

Fun pen to draw with! The ultra fine point produces lines that are more attuned to my drawing "style" than the thicker lines. Plus, I can hold these pens anywhere I want, at least when the cap is posted.

C'est simple je ne sais pas écrire avec autre chose les Pilot Razor dont je biseaute le bout au cutter, ca fait un léger délié et c'est plus stable.

These are some of the nicest pens that I have ever used. They have a slight tendency to smear, but that can be overlooked because of how crisply they write. The box is also really cool.
