## Description

Converter for LAMY fountain pens instead of T10 ink cartridges.

Review: Awesome :D - I have three Lamy Fountain Pens (2 AL-Stars and 1 Safari) which I bought both on desertcart and in a local office supply store. This converter fits all of them. It's great to be able to use whatever ink I like, and it's much cheaper than buying ink cartridges. The converter works extremely well, and I've never had any problems with mine after having them for almost a year. You just twist the red part to push the plunger down, then dip it in the ink and twist it back up. It's very simple and easy, and it's very fast as well. The only downside is that it does not hold as much ink as a real cartridge, since about half the length is taken up by the plunger/twist apparatus. My solution is to fill all three pens every night, so that if one runs out I always have a backup, but I also sometimes carry my ink bottle in my backpack. It's so simple and easy to refill, I can even refill it in class if I have to. I recommend this for anyone with a Lamy fountain pen. It will save you a lot of money in the long run, and having two means you can use different colors or have them in multiple pens. Sidenote: I use Noodler's black ink with mine, which you can buy here on desertcart. It works very well with Lamy pens, and its formula makes it permanent on paper but easy to wash off your hands if you spill.
Review: Lamy LZ24 Coverter - Plain and Simple - I bought this converter thinking it would be much more practical and economical than having to constantly buy ink cartridge refills. I've never owned a fountain pen before, so after buying my Lamy Safari Charcoal Extra Fine Point Fountain Pen - L17EF , and reading many many reviews advocating the purchase of the converter, I went ahead and bought a couple (along with Noodler's Black Waterproof Fountain Pen Ink - Bulletproof ). I looked on YouTube for videos on instructions regarding how to fill the converters, and I found a few different methods. After watching the different videos, I decided on a method that I felt was the best. I'll just say that it was pretty darn simple! I'm happy to report that everything is working as advertised, and I couldn't be happier. The converter works as advertised, and it even appears to hold more ink than a replacement cartridge (or the same amount at the very least). I'm pretty happy with the decision to go with the converter. Some other bonuses with going with a converter is the variety of inks you have at your disposal and the long term economical practicality (cheaper in the long run, or even short run if you write a lot). Practicality, economy, variety, what's not to love?

## Questions & Answers

**Q: what are the instructions for use with this converter? I have the pen and I have the ink bottle but I have no idea how to fill it.**
A: The converter must be tightened into the pen. First. Then dip the job into the ink and turn the back up and down three times. Wipe the pen clean

**Q: Does lamy make a waterproof ink? If not is there a brand of ink that is waterproof that will work with lammys pens Will it work with the brand noodler**
A: I like Noodlers Heart of Darkness, very black and quite waterproof. Big fan of other Noodlers inks, too. Go to the Noodlers website and check out the specs on each of the colors. Lots of great colors and various formulations for various purposes. Great ink, non-fancy bottle, excellent price. To note, you can actually refill the Lamy cartridge and reuse it many times. (Use a syringe and blunt needle, about 20-22 ga. You'll find them in the craft/hobby/industrial glue or lube section on Amazon.) Or get the Lamy converter for about $6.

**Q: Can you use one converter for multiple inks?**
A: You can use multiple inks in one converter, but not at the same time. If you want to change the ink colour held in the converter, draw lukewarm water into the converter and then release it. Repeat this process until the converter is clean, then fill it with your desired ink colour.

**Q: Will this work with any size nib?**
A: As long as it is a Lamy fountain pen it will fit. Nib size has nothing to do with the converter. I hope this has helped you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great first impressions...more later
*by A***R on June 22, 2013*

Disclaimer: I've only used this product for a week, so I can't speak to its longevity. Easy to fill...I followed the advice of another review and filled it slowly, and I didn't have any issues pulling in air. Very easy to use and orders-of-magnitude cheaper than living off OEM ink cartridges. 1.5 yrs later...I still love it. My Lamy is my primary writing tool, so I go through a lot of ink. The Z24 has shown no bleeding around the flange, still crystal clear when empty (i.e., no residue left on cheap plastic), and no other performance issues that I can think of. Tips: - Fill it slowly - Once full, reverse one drop back out before clean the end with a napkin--this will keep you from accidentally dripping ink while en-route to your pen. (I've used it exclusively with a black Lamy ink pot, so can't attest to how it will perform with other brands.) (If you want to save money while opening yourself up to a range of high quality inks...stop reading and buy one). *updated Jan '15
