PILOT Precise, Black/Blue/Red/Pink/Green/Purple/Turquoise Ink, 7-Pack

Every time I sit to do homeschool planning or write thank you notes during nap time, I grab these. I got this set after a late-night scroll because I wanted something nicer than regular ballpoints but nothing fussy. The ink goes on smooth and dark, and my favorite part is it doesn’t bleed through my cheap planner pages. I can write on both sides, which makes me weirdly happy. The colors are cute, and the kids love picking one when they make cards for grandparents. Since they’re disposable, I don’t stress about losing one under the couch. I already added another pack to my cart.

I've been using fountain pens off and on for about 35 years. I've had a range of them from cheap, barely usuable ones to $250 pens with gold nibs. These definitely aren't the latter, but being inexpensive, they write very well from the start. I finally don't have to worry about someone borrowing my pens and either walking away with them or damaging the nib, but I still get to use my favorite type of writing utensil.

I grabbed these because my plain black pens kept migrating to my husband’s side of the desk and I wanted something he’d stop “borrowing.” The colors look bright but still office friendly. Nothing neon-crayon vibes. Each one writes right away so I don’t sit there scribbling in the margins like a raccoon at 2 a.m. trying to finish a bug ticket. I use them for my daily to do list and to color code client tasks. The best moment was during a Zoom sprint review when I used the teal pen to sketch a layout. My hand rested on the page and the ink didn’t smear at all. That tiny win made me weirdly happy I ordered them during a sleepy scroll.

This fountain pen set writes so smoothly and the ink is rich and dark. But it doesn’t bored through. Big win! I’m impressed with the affordability. They’re disposable so I’ve already dumped them in my cart for the future.

I wanted to get into fountain pens for a while, but didn't want to deal with ink pots and constant re-dipping, just as I was only interested in trying it out. These pens are AMAZING, super smooth flow. I love the vibrancy of the colors, and unlike a lesser brand I tried, they can hold up to my need to fiddle with something and not break and leak everywhere. I like them so much, I won't be going to an ink pot fountain pen setup as these are far better in my mind.

I bought this set after buying a single pen to try them out and they have replaced my Pilot G2 as my favorite pen. They write very smoothly, and the ink seems to last quite a long time, though it will depend on how fast you write as with a fountain pen a slower speed will use much more ink. The turquoise, pink, green, and red will dry/absorb faster than the black, blue, and purple, so they might be better for your informal writings. They are also very leak resistant, I won't say leak proof even though when stored vertically I've never had one leak, which is often a con for fountain pens. The only cons I can think of is that they are a tad shorter than a regular ball point pen, and they have a medium tip (Pilot says they make these in Fine point as well but I can't find them). Will these be as "good" as an expensive brand name fountain pen? That's like asking if the cheap black barrel multipack mechanical pencils will be as "good" as a high quality drafting mechanical pencil. Both will do the job, but where the expensive high quality options are for specialized tasks and for professional applications where a crisp top of the line finish is needed, these pens are for people who like the feel of a fountain pen, but will be using them for informal tasks such as jotting down notes, writing checks (which fountain pens are exceptional at, especially India Black which Pilot also makes and is listed on Amazon, because the ink embeds itself deep into the fibers and resists washing by thieves), doing homework, or other such tasks. Oh, and don't forget, since they are so inexpensive (the black ink versions are sold by the dozen here on Amazon for the same price you would pay for a ball point) if they do get lost, stolen (by a coworker), or broken, you're not out a lot of money. Pilot also makes a cartridge based refillable fountain pen as well which is a higher quality metal barrel and even a replaceable nib, but I would start off with one of these and work your way up.

These are so fun to write with!!! Such a smooth flow to them! It makes me want to write more, so I'm trying to re-learn cursive. They all arrived intact, the colors are beautiful, and the flow is lovely! Of course, you have to hold them a certain way, because it's a fountain pen, but once you get the hang of it, they're quite lovely! If your paper is super thin, they will bleed through if you hold the pen on the paper, but I've only got one notepad where that happened, the rest of my note pads and note books have been fine.
