Sony SBH-50 Black NFC Wireless Bluetooth Handsfree Stereo Headset

If the perfect bluetooth headset exists out there, I have not yet been able to locate it, but the SBH-50 is as close as you're gonna get. Pros: Pairing is pretty easy - just hold down the button on the bottom for about 3 seconds, then select SBH-50 once it appears on your device. Quality is very good - obviously, not as good as hardwired, but very good. Range is decent - About 30 to 40 feet in an apartment. Headphones - Excellent. They're the "L" type where the cord for the left earbud is far shorter than the one for the right. Much better than the "Y" type in my opinion, because you can run the right bud wire around the back of your neck instead of having the wires hanging down in front of you. The wire that connects to the main unit itself is very short as well, the perfect length if you clip the unit to your shirt pocket. Even better, if you don't like those headphones you can plug ANY standard headphones into the SBH-50! Battery - Not too shabby. I get about 5 to 6 hours of audio from my iPad. Functionality - Incredible. I paired this with both my iPad and iPhone, so if I'm listening to music on the iPad and the phone rings, I hear it in the headphones and can press a button on the SBH-50 to answer it. The music is automatically muted! That feature just blew me away, unfortunately, it doesn't pause the music on the iPad. Can't have everything I guess. Cons: Ease of use - Here's where every device like this seems to fail. The SBH-50 is better than the rest, but still, pretty terrible when it comes to operation. If SONY is reading this, PLEASE stop with the pushbuttons and menus. I realize that switches take up more space and tend to fail eventually, but having to push and hold tiny buttons is a real pain, and I am constantly pressing things by accident. This model does have a major improvement over the MW-600, the volume is now a rocker button instead of a touch-slide, but the power and menu buttons are just a nightmare. You get the hang of them eventually, but if you're not diligent you may end up never using the headset at all. Please, Sony, for the next model use 3 position switches (Off/On/Pair) for power and (1/2/1&2) to select the device(s).

I use this with an iphone 4. Sound quality, for me, is more than can be desired. Having the phone untethered by the earphone cable is such a blessing as well. Skip or back track without having to fudge with the phone. Or leave the phone on the coffee table and amble about the house. Good for listening to itunes on the Macbook also. A very good product from Sony. Money well spent. UPDATE:(2/23/15) After about a year of very satisfied use, I, finally, was able to pair the thing with both my iphone4s and my Macbook Pro. Not so obvious how to do that, what with the cryptic user manual. I guess I just wasn't paying a huge enough amount of attention to it, with its use of symbols and minimal verbal instruction. The device does not connect to two devices simultaneously, as the advertising says; rather, it PAIRS with two, and stores the pairing info. On my device there are tiny icons for a cell phone, and for a laptop; as well, SBH50 shows the name of the devices.

Me, I'm not a huge cell phone person. I use it when I must, take calls when somebody decides to ring through. I am, however, a 2-hour-a-day commuter, and a music maniac. An ipod is a wondrous thing. But the wires... tug and tangle, catch your hands or arms up, under the jacket, over the scarf... the wires just become a huge inconvenience tethered to your mp3 player. And that was what I wanted to eliminate when I went scouting for a solution. First I tried a bulky, cheap pair of over-the-ears I reviewed elsewhere. They worked, well enough. Just about. But, in the end, they didn't make the grade. These Absolutely do. They connect and stay connected, even through heavy coats and bags and across 25-30 feet of distance. Although the headset itself is wired, it isn't physically connected to the player - which means you can arrange the wire and just leave it there all day - not wrestle with it as you take off a coat or shift stuff in your pockets. The sound is grand, at least to these old ears; they may not be Beats, but these old ears physically would be incapable of telling the difference between the two. The charge lasts all day (at least), running about ten hours at a crack, which is a delight. Keep a micro usb cord at work, and top it off during the day if you're feeling nervous - God knows we all have about two dozen of the things laying around... Best of all - since you can rack two devices up to it, if I DO need to make or receive calls, it's simple to switch over, and use the headset for what it was initially designed for. I'm Very satisfied with this thingamabob.

This little Bluetooth headset has quite the roster of party tricks up its sleeve. First and foremost is the ability to detach the headphones and use a different set, or plug it up to an AUX-IN on your car stereo for wireless streaming music. Second are the "add-ons" you can install through your Android phone to enable enhanced functionality like seeing e-mail, calendar and Facebook post alerts on the device's little OLED screen. Third is the NFC pairing, which is about as painless as possible (unless your phone is like mine and doesn't specify WHERE exactly the NFC antenna is, then you have to go hunting for it, slowly.) Fourth is the aforementioned OLED screen. It's tiny but sharp and highly readable in indoor conditions; no more fumbling for the phone when you want to see what song you're listening to. Fifth is the built-in FM radio, with RDS. When you tire of your tunes or need to check the news, the FM radio is adequate enough to pull in strong local signals and show artist/song title/station name/info scrolls if your local stations support that feature. Sixth is the light weight. This thing is seriously a featherweight device, especially with the headphones detached. I've only had this unit for a few days, but so far I'm definitely impressed with its functionality. The sound quality from the included ear buds (which come with three sizes of rubber fittings for different sized ears) is OK for casual users. The unit is not *quite* strong enough to adequately power my Sennheiser over-the-ear home 'phones, which is a slight disappointment but not entirely unexpected from such a small mobile device as this. One goofy quirk I've found is that, at least when paired with my HTC Droid DNA, the headset works in two distinct modes. It'll automatically reconnect with my phone when it's in range, but defaults to calls-only mode. To hear music from my phone, I have to manually select the little note icon from the menu on the headset. The instructions imply this will auto-start my music player, but it doesn't do that on my particular phone. Perhaps it's because I have several music players installed, I don't know. Another quirk is that this appears to have some sort of "hearing protection" volume limited turned on by default. When trying to crank out the tunes with my big Sennheisers, I hit a volume limit at around 75% of max, with a little ear icon popping up on the display. Somehow or another I managed to disable that, but I have no idea how. It's not a feature in any of the menus on the device or the companion Android app on the phone. Speaking of settings, under setup on the headset there are just two options. There's a factory reset which is way too easy to do (whoops!) and an undocumented little icon that looks like a rectangle with two arrows. This feature flips the display upside down so you can use the device with the call answer button on the left instead of right of the screen. Very handy. I haven't had it long enough to get an idea of battery life, but after charging the recommended 2.5 hours, I was able to update the firmware, play around with all the features for an hour, then stream two hours of music from my phone without the battery icon dropping even one bar. I'll update the review at some point in the future when I try out call quality, range and get a better idea of day to day life with this promising little headset.

This is the first bluetooth where my callers could hear me clearly and they report I did not sound garbled or in a metal tank. I have tried half a dozen BT's for work, which requires me to be receiver-free to work around the office, and this is the first one with decent mic quality. All have great speakers, but are useless when my customers can't hear me clearly. Pros: Great mic quality Good app for my phone that lets me mute all but ringer at set times of the night. Comfortable earbuds, but I can use any earbuds I want because the mic is in the unit. Helpful battery meter on the unit. Standard micro-usb so I can use any charging cable (car, wall, computer...) Cons: Wall charger is the weirdest thing I've seen: two round prongs, not flat blades. I'm afraid to plug it into the wall. Luckily it will charge with anything. No voice or beep to tell me I'm out of range. Can't find a range, or out of range, indicator or icon on the unit, so I don't know I'm out of range until I just notice it doesn't connect. Overall, a great unit.

Works OK, but mediocre at best. The blue tooth loses connection when just a few feet away from my ipod, even in the same room. The controls are difficult to find when looking at the device, and nearly impossible to find or use without looking.

Easy to pair. I owned Samsung bluetooth before which I lost. I bought this because of cheaper price. It works well, easy to connect and has display too. The range is good too almost 20 ft. I forgot my phone on treadmill and was going to the locker rooms which I believe must be more than 25-30 ft away. It was working well until I walked in the rest rooms and then I realized I forgot my phone. Sound of these headphones is great as well.

Ottimo dispositivo, grazie alle applicazioni disponibili di Sony su Play Store è possibile anche avere sul display (o farsele leggere) le anteprime di email, sms e messaggi whatsapp. Il volume e la qualità della riproduzione è fenomenale e molto alto per "un senza filo". Ottima anche la radio FM, che non permette di memorizzare le stazioni, ma ha RDS.

Prima Headset. Mit NFC leicht zu starten. Mit dem APP kann man alle Anwendungen und Datentransfer automatisch starten. Mit dem Sound bin ich zufrieden.Akkulaufzeit ist für diese Größe ok.

I paired the SBH50 Stereo Bluetooth Wireless Headset with my Nexus phone and tablet, after downloading the appropriate apps on the devices. It was simple to set up and worked perfectly immediately. Once that's been done the first time, it connects automatically every time its switched on. The sound quality from these is excellent. Also the inbuilt FM Radio is better than the radio app on my device. The ability to change the music source from the SBH50, and to answer and end phone calls on it, makes this perfect for my needs. My phone stays out of site at all times. I clip the SBH to the webbed strap of by tablet bag, but it would be just as easy to clip it to a jacket lapel, shirt pocket, tie or even a tee shirt collar (although I haven't tested it that way). Very impressed with the battery life too. In fact, I've never run it completely down. Okay, these aren't cheap - but they're good quality and worth buying. I think they're a sound investment.

Después de mas de seis meses de uso, puedo dar una opinión sobre el mismo y es que estoy extremadamente satisfecho con el producto. Como puntos a favor destaco lo siguiente: La conexión es inmediata, sin problemas (sea por NFC, o BT, lo he utilizado en un móvil Android con Lollipop, una tableta con Android KitKat, un ordenador con Windows 7 y un iPhone 5c) Identifica correctamente las llamadas con el nombre del contacto que llama si está en mi agenda. Cuando estoy escuchando música, o la radio, y recibo una llamada, pausa la canción o radio y da paso a la llamada sin demora. Te permite avanzar, retroceder y pausar canciones a la perfección. La posibilidad de subir y bajar el volumen es limpia y sin problemas (antes tenia el MW600 y sinceramente, la barra táctil era un rollo, a veces no funcionaba correctamente, en éste caso, al ser un botón, funciona por presión y en el 100% de la veces) El sonido de la música es de muy buena calidad, con los auriculares que vienen de Sony, según que música se escucha un poco enlatado, pero con unos B&O que tengo, el sonido es perfecto, muchas veces, es simplemente tener unos buenos cascos. Aún así, los auriculares que le acompañan son tambien de gran calidad, si ser lo mejor. Es sumamente liviano, e incorpora un clip se sujeción bastante bueno y casi del tamaño del aparato, cosa que se agradece. Ahora bien, en cuanto a los puntos que menos me gustan: Es un aparato bastante simple, quizás por el precio que tiene, podría incorporar alguna función mas, o traer algún accesorio extra. Pero bueno, ya sabia de ello al momento de hacer la compra. No puedes guardar mas de una emisora de radio, en mi caso, ésto me da igual, solo escucho RockFM, no me gustan ninguna de las demás emisoras que hay, me parecen aburridas y repetitivas. Pero si deseas guardar más de una, puede ser una contra. Y realmente, a mi parecer tiene pocos puntos en contra, y todos ellos ya los conocía antes de comprarlo, por lo que no me he encontrado con ninguna sorpresa desagradable al utilizarlo. Compra recomendada al 100%
