This stuff can't be for real!
We hand dug a pond approximately 1/2 acre in size, with an island in the middle, a bridge leading to the island, and a swimming dock. Our pond is about 12' deep at its deepest point. We have struggled with algae, cattails, azolla, some surface weeds, and a filamentous weed. Our best control was Muscrat Sam, whose sole purpose in life was to eat my foliage, good and bad. Unfortunately, he burrows into the perimeter and the island, destroying my shoreline. He had to be fired. I tried this Aquashade when the weeds were fully established. It took about a third of a gallon and an hour to turn my entire pond into a stunning teal color, and since then, my weeds have not died but they have not grown. They suggest pouring it on the ice in the spring, and that might provide for total weed control. I haven't lost my Canadian Goose family, my fish are all surviving, and even the bullfrogs and crayfish stick around. I would buy this product just for the colorant alone, but be prepared that a little goes a loooooong way. Update 6/27/19: We applied this first to the ice before the pond melted in the spring. We won't be doing it again because our pond has an overflow...which took most of the Aqua Shade with it. We bought another gallon, used less than half, and we have little to no weed growth...just a few stubborn pickerel weeds by the shore in the shallows. I don't mind those, though, and do not plan on eradicating them. The picture is three weeks after application. You can see the geese on the right, the deer in the back, but you can't hear the bullfrogs, and the turkeys are just to the left. I am now a steady customer.

Colour Is The Closest to Aqua you will find
Trying nearly all the Pond Colorants out there, we like Aqua Shade the best. It stays during all seasons if you use enough, lovely ice frost blue color in cold weather. It seems to do a better job at the price than other brands, quieting the algae growth spurred on by the sun. Put it in as soon as Spring warmth hits. Does not harm fish, cats dogs, horses drinking from source, nor does it bother pond fish - not sure about Koi fish though. Pour freely - I take a plastic cup & throw smaller amounts into water in various spots w/wind will left to stir it around. Use a set of rubber gloves as this product gives you "Blue Man" hands only Clorox will wash out. I use about 3- 4 gallons a year in a .275 (just over 1/4 acre) pond. Good stuff!

Best UV blocker to control weeds and algae
I have been using this product for almost 20 years..works great in a 2 acre pond to control unwanted weeds and algae. It also turns the water a beautiful shade of blue. Have tried other pond UV blockers and this by far the best. Highly recommended

A little goes a lo-o-o-ng way!
I have a very small pond, 3'x5'x 3' deep. Because it is so small, even with the waterfall going all the time it heats up and gets algae growth fairly quickly. I use an algaecide, but thought the Aquashade might help. There is no guideline for anything as small as my pond, so I took a teaspoon, dipped it in the liquid, let the majority drip off and just used what stuck to the spoon and swirled it in the water. It turned the water a lovely blue green and I wouldn't want to use any more than that. We'll see if it helps deter the algae growth. At this rate, the bottle I purchased will last me 3 lifetimes!
