The effects of this filter in 1/8 are subtle but it helps you get soft images with lower contrast and slightly glowing lights. I use this with an vintage lens that is naturally hazy and soft on a film rangefinder. Together they give a very painterly character to your photos. It works reliably for me, even at 1/8 strength it is noticeable in most conditions and I haven’t seen any issues with flairs. Try it!

Bought this for use on my Fuji XE-1 and have been very pleased with the results. The effect is quite subtle, but when shooting side by side tests with no filter, the Tiffen filter gives an nice softening effect to skin tones in particular. You don't get a lot of unwanted artifacts, even when shooting into the light which makes this filter good for flare control as well. Overall a really handy, but specialized filter that would be great if you do a lot of portraiture either in the studio or on location. By the way, the sample shots for this filter on Tiffen's web site really don't do this justice.

Overall: 1.5/5 I would not recommend this lens filter to anyone serious about improving their photography. The image quality is subpar, and the build quality is far from impressive. I had a 1/4 mist filter but that felt as an overkill so I bought this 1/8 and this one is perfect for me. Have it on my X100vi and I love that subtile mist which it brings. Never took it off….
