Gamo Rocket .177 Cal, 9.6

Bar none the best pellet. I’ve tried 6-8 types of pellets and these take the cake. Shoots a 1/2” 10 shot group @25 yrds out of my gamo swarm fusion gen 2. Anything from crows to field mice and everything in between has proven to be a deadly accurate lethal pellet. They are the only pellet I shoot now,definitely recommend!

I really like this pellet ! I recently bought blue flame , red fire, rockets, and a combo pack of old fashioned lead 7.59 grain pellets I fire them thru a big cat 1200 by gamo and I find them the most accurate,& expensive round I can find out of the high performance gamo lead pellets They do go thru tin at a hundred feet clean and the long skirt really does make it quite accurate from a distance .. With a dry shot( no lube ) it will punch clean thru a piece of 1x6 pine from 40' At a hundred feet it won't unless I hit a "wet" shot lmao!! They sonic boom/crack completely accurately at 100' and it will go thru two tin cans at that distance with minimal deflection ... I know guys !! It's bad to diesel an air gun ... But wtf !! I can replace parts with better ones Very hard punch thru at distance with incredible accuracy.. Most leaded pellets won't go thru tin at a hundred feet even with a combustible charge , and because they are heavy the sonic crack never catches the pellet at that kind of distance due to velocity loss .. Example pba blue flames fire dry out of my gun and are 3-4 FEET grouping ... The sonic boom catches up and kicks it in the ass so hard they are unusable at 60'. I shoot these out of 2 guns, a 1200 fps break barrell and a crossman 880 pump. Both guns shoot them well and have been a hard hitting pellet. They are my 2nd go to pellet. My first choice is Premier Ultra Magnums though. In my pump you don't want a heavy grain pellet as the velocity isnt that high anyways as I usually shoot a 7 grain or so out of the crossman pump. But when I am hitting a squirrel at close range, lets say 10-15 yards I don't mind the 9.6 grain in it. As its going to lose major fps due to the weight of pellet in that gun(less power) but I want that impact at a short distance. (also don't think its ideal or good to shoot a heavier grain out of a not so powerful gun as the 880 pump as its harder on the guns internals) to force that heavier grain out of the chamber. But I have had no issues what so ever. My break barrel pellet gun shoots these great as well pretty accurate though this gun as well. I will shoot up to a 11 grain from this gun, which I have killed squirrels at 50 yards with the heavy grain pellet. OVerall great pellet, they are not very dirty with lead as you get with a lot of pellets. I have not found any deformed ones either in the pack. Which you can pick through some brands and have to pick the good ones out to shoot..which is a waste of time and money. Well shaped, shoot well in both of my guns and leave a great impact and accurate as well. I will purchase them again as they are a good buy, and good clean pellet for the money. FYI, by going a little heavier grain you can keep your gun from shooting speed of sound----if you have a high powered pellet gun---which in turn will keep it more quiet as well. I don't care about losing some fps as much, I care about the impact when that pellet hits my target! :) SO get them :)

Weapon: sig p226 semi-auto blow back pistol (co2 powered) compared against gamo luxor (5.5 grain copper jacket) and Crossman Destroyer ( 7.5 grain) Each type was tested on a fresh 12g Co2 into a standard Ballistic gel block ( the powdered mix also available on Amazon!) and finally a mason jar at 10 yards. The Rocket-- well, it rocks! Flies just as flat as the others listed, but has a bit more punch--- would love to try this with a decent rifle! It had average 1 inch more penetration than the crossman destroyer and double the penetration of the Gamo Lexor -- which is supposed to be the "penetrator " of the 3. All 3 went at least 3 inches (most shots where further) into the gel block up to 16 shots -- after about 9-10 of 16 shots, a noticeable difference could be seen ( these were all rapid fire-- so could just be the co2 ""freeze"" effect ) Also -- my sig pistol happens to shoot pretty dead on and I know a lot of them don't- Sorry guys! ( I got lucky I guess) -- so if I shot twice at same target point--- at least a few times the hole was just enlarged......so those results are a bit sideways. Interesting -- or maybe not, as I am new to AIR powered - none of the rounds expanded or even remotely deformed in gel. I suspect they are just not moving fast enough -- but to be honest, My sig is putting out 400fps on the first 16 ( one magazine) (factory claims 500fps...in their wildest dreams!!!!) -- I still wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of any of these rounds at close range. Mason Jar at 10 yards: ( 30 feet ) Gamo rocket shattered it first shot... 8 shots-- 8 shattered mason jars ( round broke apart into many pieces could not really recover much of anything) Beeman Destroyer chipped the surface -- never could break it ( round had wonderful deformation-- like a slow moving hollow point normally would do ) Gamo Lexor bounced off -- didn't bother to shoot more than a few times... ( bounced off -- the tips were dulled and that's about it- just not enough mass here for a pistol) Might be Great in a rifle though-- So don't get me wrong about the Lexor!! I just don't think it's for co2 pistols. Bottom line: All 3 are potent at close range - all three seem to be flat flying and pretty good for accuracy, all are priced cheap enough to afford, but if you are actually looking for the most "knock down" bang for your buck, out of a sig p226 co2 at least, I'd ( will be) use the gamo rocket. A word on co2 pistols for self -defense: I don't recommend this or any air powered item for self defense-- I personally like my REAL SiG P226 for that- that said, many people in the world today are lucky to even have access to an air gun. Keep your shots as close as possible and aim at the face/eyes/throat...

In a Daisy 880S at 30', 4 pumps, I'm getting 7/8" grouping with some bulk cheap Gamos, 6/8" grouping with Crosman Destroyer EX, and 5/8" with these Rockets. That may not sound like much, but to look at them on paper it is. They are really accurate in this $45 air rifle. It's entirely possible, if not probable, that these would group better by a better shooter, but the point is relative to other pellets they perform well for me. I haven't tested piercing strength much, though in this particular air rifle at 10 pumps the tip of these are going at least a third of an inch into a 2X4. BBs pierce much better than lead and the small BB tip of this (not as big as a full .177 BB) will help maintain shape, while the lead mass helps maintain some momentum. They are quite long and feel bulky. *UPDATE* I performed some minimal piercing tests into new 3/8" OSB with a 2X4 behind. 10 pumps on the 880S claims to be around 700 FPS for a pellet. I shot a non-rocket pellet at this OSB and it embedded deeply without any dent on the back of it. I shot a BB and embedded fully with a huge dent at the back of the OSB. Second pellet, very tiny dent on back of OSB. I then tried the rockets with two shots. One embedded with a tiny dent on the back of the OSB and another punched a hole through the OSB with the entirety of the lead mass remaining in the OSB, but its small pellet head continuing further to embed fully into the 2X4 behind. It only went into that 2X4 as deep as its diameter, but still I find it impressive that these have the capability of getting through that much wood in a $45 air gun.

Terminal performance on tree rat was impressive in fairly low powered bb/pellet rifle. Can’t complain about accuracy in that platform either. High price for quantity only downside.

Closeup Test: Gamo Rocket has a hardened steel but round tip that is heavier 9.6 that penetrates farther than others, for a heavy weight. The pointed Raptor penetrates lightly deeper, flies straight, and seems to never deform. It's very hard but lighter 5.6 pellet. Best of each worlds. Cost more, Valued more. These have shorter skirts - best for pistols. BEWARE! Don't buy direct from Gamo. Don't give Gamo your credit card! Gamo employees bought stuff without my knowledge. The refused to cancel my order and constantly lied to me. When I tried to cancel/modify my order within minutes of submitting it, I discovered the claimed "Cancel" option did not function. So I wrote them, but didn't hear back from them for 5 days. Meanwhile, I called three times before I got through, and was told they'd sent me a prepaid return label once I got the already shipped package. I was lied to. Not only was the package not shipped until the next day, but they also ignored my repeated requests for the promised return shipping label. Then things got bad! The day after I paid them, I hadn't used that card for months, but then the day after I used it to pay Gamo, my bank informed me of the fraud. So I canceled my card. The bank investigated them and found them responsible, and put them on their black list. And my bank refunded me. Don't buy direct. Don't give Gamo your credit card!
