This bridge helped improve the sound of my violin. It has a nicer curve than the bridge that came on my violin. I find that it’s easier to hit only the desired string(s) when playing. You do have to fit it to your violin, which isn’t too hard if you have sandpaper and a little bit of patience.

Comes larger so you can shape and sand to your specific violin. I used another violin's bridge (same size violin) as a guide for my used violin that was missing its bridge. I placed sand paper on the violin body with the rough part away from the violin. Then I rubbed the bottom of the bridge (the feet part) back and part about 1 cm to and fro until the shape mated with the violin body just right. Then I traced the shape to the reference bridge from another violin of the same size (for me it was 4/4 size). I trimmed the excess wood off. Then sanded the bridge. I than tapered the bridge more at the top (where the strings rest on) as it was a little thick. Then you will have to very gently sand the 4 indents/grooves where the 4 strings sit on. You should use another bridge that already has these grooves as a pattern reference. I just marked where the 4 strings touched when I put them on the violin, but this resulted in one of the strings about 1 mm too far to one side. It still plays OK, but I recommend a template to make sure the 4 strings are separated equally from each other. No you do not need to pay a lot of money to customize this bridge, but you will need to trim, sand, and have a reference bridge. I was wondering whey they do not just make a finished bridge. The reason is that each violin is not perfectly like another because they are wood and made by different companies. You have to custom fit the bridge to your specific violin.

This bridge arrived exactly as pictured but as with any semi-fitted bridge take it to a luthier. The feet were not seemless with the violin. I like the notches on the bridge for the string, they are evenly spaced is pretty standard arch.

I was pleased with the quality of this bridge. The ebony inlay for the E string looked nice and performed well. My only problem was that this bridge was too short to bring the strings up to the proper level over the fingerboard on my Cecilio CVN-200. I ended up purchasing a taller bridge. I wish I could have used this one. I like the quality of it better than the one I ended up with.

The bridge is constructed well and with a couple hours of tinkering with a razorblade and some sand paper - your violin will have a new bridge with custom string action specific to your liking. The most difficult part is getting the feet to sit flush against the body of your violin. I used various grit sandpaper face up on the top of my violin to start, then put a thin layer of lipstick on the face, pressed the bridge into it, and saw where it had high points. Then you just chop the high points off with a razorblade and you are good to go!! Takes some time and dexterity but is worth it when you are done and have revived your old violin. Not sure how much the ebony insert does as it a 1/16" - 1/8" veneer style implant on the E string side, but it sure looks cool!! When I thinned my bridge out to specs the ebony occupies about 80% of the width of the top of the bridge so it must help a bit. I still used the plastic tube to prevent my strings from cutting into it though.

This product is not just a drop in bridge, and took many hours of fitting and finding the right height to carve it to, and thickness for resonance. Once it was completed, this was one of the best sounding bridges I've heard. Has great projection, and harmonic balance. **** if you are a noob, and wish to try fitting a bridge, buy multiples***. If you mess up the radius on the bottom or top, or hight, you cannot add wood back. Be careful with it, and have fun

Good quality and sounds nice

I bought this to replace the bridge on my violin, which was allowing the strings to slide back and forth. I read the reviews and decided to give this one a try. So far so good. Strings are staying put and the sound is so much better,. If you are looking for a reasonably priced bridge, this one is a great choice.
