Replacement rain guage
After several years our rain gauge stopped working. This was the perfect replacement. They added a screen over the top which was a nice improvement. The little cross-hairs on our other one broke out. I don't know if birds pecked them out or if they came out by themselves. The screen over the top will now protect those little cross-hairs at the opening.

It works with Domoticz
I live in the Netherlands and nowhere could I buy a PCR800 here. This is the only rain gauge that works perfectly with 433 Mhz and Domoticz. Ordered in America and delivered in 7 days!

Don't buy from Oregon Scientific!
I purchased an RG126 rain gauge several years ago. For the most part, I liked the rain gauge. They are a bit finicky to keep working properly and battery replacement requires some knowledge for getting the sensors to re-sync with the receiver. After several years, the outdoor rain gauge sensor quit working. I replaced the batteries, but couldn’t get it to measure rainfall. It seems that these wireless rain gauges will only last a few years at most, so I thought I would just order a new outside unit. I called Oregon Scientific and talked to one of their customer service reps. I clearly stated the model number of the unit that I had (there are two different models of wireless rain gauges) and asked if I could purchase the outside rain gauge separately so that I didn't have to buy the complete kit. I was told that I could and we went ahead with the transaction. When the package arrived, I received the temperature sensor, not the rain sensor. I called them again and explained the problem. Of course, I was talking to a different CSR. I was told then that the rain sensor couldn't be purchased separately, and that they would be happy to sell me a new complete kit. Their price was nearly double what I could buy it for here on Amazon. Go figure! I told the CSR that I didn't want to purchase the entire kit, but that I wanted to return the part that they sent me in error. I was told that I would have to pay the return shipping. I told them that that was not acceptable since it was their mistake, not mine. The CSR provided me with a case number and said that someone would get back to me. Weeks went by and I called again and provided the case number. The CSR apologized and said that they would kick the problem up to a supervisor and get back to me. Again, no one ever got back to me. I finally made one more attempt to resolve the issue, and I was promised a call-back within several days. That was two weeks ago and still no return call. I give up. It is not worth the hassle to keep going through this nonsense. They sent me the wrong part and they won't make it right. I will never purchase another product from Oregon Scientific. I tossed out the original kit and replaced it with a high quality manual rain gauge. It isn't as convenient to walk out to check the rain gauge, but I don't have to change batteries and deal with an unreliable product. Also, I won't have to replace the rain gauge every few years. My advice is to stay away from Oregon Scientific. Their customer service is terrible to say the least.

Oregon Scientific PCR800 Wireless Rain Gauge: Is exactly what ...
Oregon Scientific PCR800 Wireless Rain Gauge: Is exactly what is listed. Does not include a leaf/debris screen. Must be used with a base station. I had to replace the exact same unit that was over four years old. It was not reliably sending data in spite of my ministrations of all sorts. I have only had the new one for a few weeks, but it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. It is 100+ feet from the base station, but within sight of the base through a window. Both are at about the same elevation. I do not cover or take in the rain gauge in during snow or freezing rain. We get similar weather to Washington DC, so that gives you an idea of what it goes through.

Easy to pair with an existing receiver.
It appears that these sensor/sending units only last 2-3 years. At least they are easy to replace and pair with the receiver and the cost is reasonable.

On second thought....
If you're buying this "a la carte", it is because you are buying a replacement for a failed unit. As such, it works great. You should just be aware of the fact that this thing doesn't last very long before it fails. In fact, the design is not waterproof (?!). So, you are buying a "consumable" and are getting on a treadmill of frequent replacement. OTOH, it is only $30, so if paying $15 per year to measure the rainfall is OK with you, then you should love it. Update Feb 2019. After 14 months my *replacement* has also failed. I'm outta here. I just don't enjoy being the conveyor belt between the manufacturer and the landfill. I like my stuff to actually work for a while. Just too old-fashioned, I guess.

Worked with my current device with no issues
In the past, I had to replace the whole unit, so was happy to have the money-saving option of buying just the outside part. That’s generally the part with the highest probability of function loss

I am currently purchasing my 4th and 5th units in order to get rainfall coverage. As with the reviewer above, the units work for awhile (one for 2 years, others for months) and then stop communicating with my wireless base unit (WMR100A). I have tried every troubleshooting option I know but the old ones will not communicate. I am impressed with the other parts of my Oregon Scientific system but this unit definitely has problems.

Tengo una estación metereologica de Oregon y necesitava otro pluviometro para substituir al anterior. La sincronizaión con la estación y el funcionamiento perfectos.

Good VFM. Excellent dispatch and delivery times, despite coming from US. Great communication.

Oregon Rain Gauge is a dependable unit with good range from the main station. Unfortunately, just having one doesn't seem to make it rail more!
