William Morris Color Bk

Isn't it funny how "adult coloring books" have now become a very hot trend and there's even an TV infomercial advertising them now. For once, I was just a bit ahead of a trend. This was one of the first "adult" coloring books I purchased, although I had been doing detailed doodles and coloring for years before this. If you're really into it, it's worth buying yourself some high quality color pencils. I had a large set of Prismacolor pencils from like 20 years ago, but hadn't used them that much and they've changed their formula for their high end pencils, but these older ones are still very good. And then I tried out some other brands and read reviews. Faber Castell Polychromos are fabulous but pricey (so I don't have that many) and Derwent are great too. It was a delight to really put them to use and improve my color blending skills. But basic color pencils will also give you many hours of coloring stress relief and beautiful colors. I also have a fairly large collection of good quality fine point colored ink pens that are great for outlining or detailing (Staedtler makes some good sets, but there are many, many other excellent ones.) These William Morris designs are a joy to color. And if you want more of a challenge, try some of the coloring books of the master's like Rembrandt, Renois and many others. I bought a coloring book of Bottecelli paintings because I wanted to work on getting skin to look good with color pencil. And the pages are, for the most part, only a part or section of the original painting. Dover also publishes many, many, adult coloring books and probably has the best selection, but I'll definitely look for more from Brooklyn Museum of Art too.

Love, love, love this book! Beautiful, detailed drawings make for beautiful, detailed colored art! I use these to make the most gorgeous cards and gift tags. And coloring is so therapeutic!

I have recently "re-found" coloring. I enjoyed it as a child and since finding coloring books with adults in mind, I am a happy camper. I have always like William Morris designs - the colors are so subtle. I have done some of the pictures in these subtle colors (color pics of original works are included in the book) and I have done some with different and brighter colors. They turned out beautifully no matter what colors I used.

I would recommend this book for adults, who color. Most of the designs are elaborate, but not small. I enjoyed this book because I had gotten into a "color" rut, and this book pushed me into using different color combinations by copying the colored photos of the actual patterns.featured on the inside cover of the book. The patterns are stand alone on one page each. ( Nothing on the back). The paper is smooth and somewhat heavy, so you might be able to used water color pencils. I only use color pencils. There are 22 designs.

I sent this to the cast of Fun Home on Broadway. They were thrilled! William Morris has a special place in the musical, so I thought they might find this helpful in getting ready to perform. Sort of mind numbing and relaxing. I also sent some colored pencils and sharpeners. I couldn't resist - I ordered one for me, too! At first I was heartbroken. I received mine fine and the coloring implements made it to the theater fine. These books were unfortunately lost in transit. I contacted Amazon, who replaced them free of charge and they arrived yesterday! I received very happy tweets from the cast exclaiming how beautiful they are! I hope it will help them calmly meditate their way on stage. I saw it in April. I'm headed back in September for another go. Very talented people and an amazing show! Go see Fun Home!

I really like the quality of the paper and also the Morris colored paintings included for reference. It is outstanding for the price ! Today I'm using watercolor brush pens without water because I haven't experimented with how the paper will take water but maybe in the future I might get adventurous 😂

I bought this on a whim, and am very glad that I did. It helps to decode how the Morris patterns are put together, and really is fun to work with. Take a 30-minute mini-vacation and color one of these designs. I sent a second book to my daughter at college for stress relief -- and better-than-average refrigerator art!

I purchased this book to add to my William Morris coloring book collection and was disappointed in the level of difficulty compared to others that I own. A fan of the Brooklyn Museum and Pomegranate books in general, I was excited to receive but then realized that the book is simple enough for children. Large examples of work without detail. The prior reviews deem not as described. Sadly, returning...

Très beau livre de ce designer britannique, dont les illustrations ont sont tirés du Broolkyn Museum. Le livre est arrivée bien emballé, un jour plus tôt que prévu. Il y a moins d'images qu'un livre de coloriage habituel, mais la qualité est bien présente. Les illustrations fort belles ne sont que sur le recto, le verso étant vierge ce qui permets l'ulisation de différents médiums. Le papier est bien blanc, de bonne qualité. Les lignes des dessins sont très foncées et un peu épaisse peut être, mais ça ne me gêne pas. Je recommande.

Oh the Paper! it is nice and thick but I'm not sure if watercolours or other paints will work on this paper. You definitely need a very sharp pencil to colour in the drawings as some of them are very finely detailed. But felt pens work great, if they have a sharp point. The designs are lovely too
