This flag pole holder is well made and feels substantial. I expect it to hold up to years of use.

I love how unassuming and sturdy this bracket is, so it blends right into our home decor, while working beautifully to hold our flags and banners day after day, week after week, and month after month. In fact, this seems like something you can just buy once and never have to replace, which makes it one of my favorite recent home decor purchases. It's easy to install, and looks great when it's not holding a banner or flag. I love how this bracket accommodates two different banner or flag positions, either at an upward angle (for a flag) or horizontally straight out (for a banner). Since I already had a flag bracket, I've mostly used this bracket to support banners held up with (fairly heavy) wooden poles, and it's worked like a champ, even on blustery, windy days. This is a real winner!

Bad thing about plastic brackets - after a year or two in the outdoors, the plastic weakens and breaks. Having this happen to me, I went metal. It fits my flagpole exactly. Very nearly an exact replacement to the plastic bracket I had. Nearly. The screw holes didn't exactly line up. That isn't my main issue here though. The main issue is that the top two screw holes are a bit too close to the flag pole cylinder (or whatever it's called). In practical terms, this made mounting the bracket a bit more of a challenge than I expected. Issue is that I couldn't get a straight line between my impact driver and the screw, because that cylinder is in the way. I had to approach the screw at a slight angle, and I came very close to stripping a screw as a result. Once mounted, it provides a solid base for the flagpole. Thing that I keep reminding myself is that the flagpole is long with a wavy thing (a "flag") at the end, so physics says that there will be a fair amount of pressure and potential stress on the bracket end. This bracket holds up well to that pressure. It works well, I'm happy with it, now that it's installed.

We have had 6 flag holders in our windy area and all of them failed within a few months. I even made sure to pay extra for US made holders and the same old break in the wind issue. Then I bought this and it is so solid and stable and so far has survived in the strongest winds. Nicely made and yes, it is from China, but appears better cast than many others. We fly the flag 24/7 (lit at night of course) so a good sturdy holder is needed. Also, the mounting holes in this match up well with the plastic or nylon flag holders so you should not have to drill new holes.

This flag holder is very strong. In the past, I have used some of the adjustable flag holders (ie, the ones whose angle you can adjust by loosening a knob and rotating the pole sleeve to the angle desired). While these adjustable holders seem functional, the adjust feature creates weak joints. Thus, in heavy winds, storms or simply after enough time and/or exposure to the weather, those joints break easily! I went through 3 of the adjustable flag holders in under 2 years before I gave up and found this much better design! This Valley Forge 2-position flag holder does not have any moving parts. Although you give up some flexibility in terms of what angles at which you can display your flag, you greatly make up for that in DURABILITY!! The welds on this holder are VERY strong. I can't imagine any situation (except for maybe tornado-strength winds) where this flag holder would have any chance of breaking! It's also very attractive....basic white! It installs easily! In summary, it works great, is built to LAST and looks great!
