It's a K&N air filter
These are direct replacements for the 2012 Mercedes CLS550 and basically any Mercedes with the M278 4.6L turbo engine. They fit great and installed easily. You won't gain much power, but these are cleanable and reusable, so it's the last air filters you'll ever have to buy for the car.

Fits like a glove and pretty easy to install on an M278. Performance wise it will consume a little more fuel. Consumption is not only because more airflow, less restriction, adding more fuel but because of the sound difference when WOT. :lol
