All You Need To Pass Your General Class Exam! The General Class license is the second of three US Amateur Radio licenses. To upgrade to General Class, you must already hold a Technician Class license. Upgrading to a General licenseโwhich conveys extensive HF privilegesโonly requires passing a written examination. Once you do, the entire range of operating modes and most of the amateur spectrum below 30 MHz become available to you. Use this book to study for and pass the 35-question General Class license exam. Every page presents information you will need to pass the exam and become an effective operator. You'll cover small sections at a time: Procedures and Practices Rules and Regulations Components and Circuits Radio Signals and Equipment Digital Modes Antennas Propagation Features all the questions and answers, with detailed explanations (including FCC rules), for examinations taken through June 30, 2023. Review: Great Reference - I am constantly purchasing this manual and the ones for Technician and Amateur Extra for friends. A good study guide and is the main manual for the exams. I like the fact that each question in the question pool in the back makes reference to the page where the topic is covered. Review: A must have reference for a Ham! - Did I need this to pass the test? Not REALLY, there are other free methods to learn about Amateur radio. This book however is THE definitive guide to the knowledge you need to pass the General class exam and get your second license in the Amateur Radio world. (Technician, General, and then Amateur Extra) I collected this book as a handy reference to my Amateur radio stuff but to be honest I haven't looked at it since I passed my test. Google is your friend and has everything you need. So for overall value I will give it a 5 but since I genrally will not look at it unless I can't find something on the internet I will give it a 3. So 4 it is! And just in case you are still reading. You don't need this book to pass the test. That information is also elsewhere on free websites that will give you practice tests with the actual questions on them.

Provided All Information Necessary To Pass General Certification On First Attempt
This manual gave me all of the data I needed to be a first-time "Go" on my ARRL General license exam. It's well-organized, easy to read, hits all of the key questions, and gave good explanations of the practical application of the concepts you learn, rather than just being a study guide to help you pass an exam. Highly recommend.

Great book for learning about Ham Radio and studying for the licensing exam
This really is a great book - very detailed and thorough, and I like the spiral bounding. The material covers what is needed to pass the licensing exam and then some, which I enjoy. I prefer to read through all of the material and really understand the subject matter - I read the book twice and even highlighted the important parts. All exam questions are located at the end of the book, with cross references to the pages where the material is covered. If you're really interested not only passing the licensing exam but also learning about Ham Radio, then this book is for you. However, if you're only interested in studying to the questions to pass the exam, and not really interested in the background knowledge, you don't need this book. Everything you need for studying to the questions and memorizing the answers can be found online for free (hamstudy.org).

Got my General! this book helped immensely
Between this book and Hamstudy.org you will succeed. Watch some YouTube vids of the in person classes too. Getting all the needed info in different formats is great for retention / understanding, the book was one avenue for me. One month of study and I passed with 100%. The major benefit is that it actually explains and gives proper context to the knowledge needed to get the questions right on your exam. Put in your time studying and taking practice tests and you will nail your exam. I just ordered the Amateur Extra book for my next test since I was happy with this purchase.

A Great Book
The ARRL General Class License Manual is a valuable resource for Ham Radio Operators with a Technician Class License to prepare for the General Class License. The book was fascinating and filled with helpful information. I liked the illustrations and photos that made the information clearer. I recommend this book to my fellow Ham Operators. I also plan to keep it as a reference.
