Fantastic thomastik
The tone is fantastic. They were the correct length for my Pbass and strung up easy. I played a few gigs and recording sessions with them. The tone has a kind of edge to it like round wounds but warm and very limited fret noise. The low tension is great because it allows you to play softer with a nice full tone or make it feel like you're digging in with less effort which improves perceived dynamics. They are breaking in slowly and nicely over months and stay in tune on my bass almost indefinitely so I am optimistic about durability. Over all, maybe a tiny hair brighter than traditional flats but very warm and round with a little edge and good dynamics.

The “Rolls Royce” of Bass Strings — Carol Kaye Was Right
After trying several flatwound sets over the years, the Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats (JF344) stand out as something very special. I still believe LaBellas are unbeatable for that classic Motown thump, but for almost everything else I’d choose these. They have a "singing" clarity that feels almost effortless—likely due to the lower tension which I normally don't like. The nickel wrap gives them a soft, silky texture that’s unlike any other flatwound I’ve tried. They’re incredibly comfortable but not flimsy.Carol Kaye called these the “Rolls Royce of bass strings,” and after playing them, I agree. Every time I pick up my Precision with JF344s, I’m inspired. Truly amazing strings.

So smooth and worth the high price
Expensive but worth it. These strings are so smooth. I put these on my Yamaha TRBX304 bass guitar, replacing the round wound OEM strings that come with the guitar. These are lower tension strings, but no neck or nut adjustments were necessary. The bass plays incredibly smooth and sounds awesome. I have had to do some retuning as the strings stretch, but that's to be expected...they seem to be getting better with time. Sweetwater is a trusted seller on Amazon, so you can buy with confidence.

Tomastik Jazz Bass Flatwound Strings
I needed to get some flat wound strings for my MusicMan Big Al bass. I had just sold the Precision which had Fender flat wound strings, the Big Al still had the Ernie Ball round wound strings that it came with, ok strings but not for me. I checked around on the web and asked friends to find out what was recommended, I thought there might be something better than the Fender flats. Thomastik came up more than anything else so I got some. The Big Al has passive and active circuit options that allows you to dial in any kind of sound. I use a David Eden World Traveler combo that will reproduce anything the instrument delivers with clean power and control. I actually tried the new strings out with a couple of the Ernie Ball round wounds still left on to compare, before putting all of them on.The Thomastik flat wound strings have a full, singing tone that I hear in my head and want my bass to have. With the full tone one can achieve the bright tones that round wounds produce, the deep bassy tones for recording and stage and everything in between with no gaps. There is no change of tone when going from string to string and likewise with the sustain. Each string acts and plays like all the others. Since the Big Al also gets a wide variety of sounds, these strings are an excellent match. The smoothness of the strings are the best part. If you are playing for hours at a time, the Tomastiks will not fatigue your fingers or tear up the frets. Also, if you want to set the action low, these strings will not mind.If you just cannot get the sound you want from your strings (and you have a decent quality of an instrument) I would say give these strings a try. If you like round wound sound and your bass has an active circuit, you may be able to get by with these flats, otherwise Thomastik does produce round wound sets. I expect to get years of use from a set so the higher cost will balance out over the years. The only caveat from me is the G string broke off several times when making a right angle turn in the machine head, they are kid of soft. I ended up just using a figure S around the slot to get it started. Make sure you start off with enough length and to wind it properly down from the nut.

But these, you won't regret it!
I have been playing bass for a very long time. I always used Rotosounds. I wanted a flatwound string with a little more brightness. These THOMASTIC-INFELDD set is the best strings I've ever ownedThe tone is warm and beautiful, still, I can add in as much brightness as I want. They are pricey but, their playing life is almost endless.Best strings I've ever bought.COMPLETELY SATISFIED

"Simply the Best" - Daniel Larusso
Simply the best flatwound bass strings made today. Put a set on and forget about them. The tone and playability make them worth every penny. Chicks dig em too which is a plus. I got rid of my Tinder account after slapping these babies on my p bass. Buy em, do it....do it.

Excellent for Jazz Bass
First of all, these are very lovely strings to play because of their relatively low tension. I don’t think they are as smooth as other flatwounds but the gauges of the strings are incredibly well balanced. They have a distinct mid range growl that other flats don’t have. I would say it splits the difference between the sound of a flatwound and a roundwound. However I don’t think these sound that great on a Precision Bass. It’s almost too much midrange for me, but if that’s your thing, you may love it. Instead I put them on my 1960 Jazz Bass and it is heavenly. The midrange of these strings compliment the sort of flat and scooped sound profile of a Jazz Bass. If there is a drawback I would say I noticed a bit more “artifact” noise with these than other flatwounds as well when new. This is things like clacking, finger noise, etc. They have been in my Jazz Bass for several years now and I absolutely adore them.

The best.
The very best bass strings you can buy. Excellent tone, perfect intonation, and they last for years. Low tension at pitch makes them easy to play. Thomastik-Infeld has been making strings for the most demanding musicians - orchestral string players - for over 100 years and it shows. I had a new bass coming, and I ordered these to make sure the new instrument would sound as good as it can.

Amazing range & textures from one string
Love these - I've been a rounds user up until these, finding flats, well, flat, at least for what I mostly play. These have a full range and with a tone control can get that falt thomp too. Great growl from a PB, sharp to smooth to a Jaco honk from a JB.
