Review: Worth Every Cent - These strings are amazing. I wanted to wait a couple of months before I wrote a review of these Elixir Polyweb string so I could speak to their longevity. I normally use d'Addario or Ernie Ball Slinky strings and they last me about 3 weeks before they become dull, lifeless, corroded and hard to keep in tune. These Polywebs have been on two of my electric guitars now for 8 weeks and they sound and tune exactly the same as the day I put them on. I am still waiting to see how much longer they will last. I don't know about you, but to me changing strings is a chore and with these strings the time inverval between string changes is already making me very happy. And, like I said, even at 8 weeks these strings sound just as good as on day one. I realize that some players will not dig the smoother texture of the low E, A and D strings. For me, the transition was not difficult. I would suggest any player who wants substantially longer string life to give these a try. If you don't like the feel of them, you could try the Nanoweb strings from Elixir which are supposed to feel more like regular strings (however, I have heard that they don't last as long as the Polywebs, which have a thicker coating). In conclusion, at this point I have already gotten almost 3x as much life out of these strings, which effectively makes them, already, the same price per week as d'Addarios or Slinky's. And with no quit indicated in these Polywebs yet, they may very well last 5x longer or more, which would effectively make them more cost-effectilve than regular uncoated strings without the hassle of changing strings every 3 weeks!
Review: Worth every penny if you take care of them! - They will last and last... if you keep a level of maintenance! I recommend cleaning your fretboard thoroughly before changing strings and keeping your guitar in a properly maintained humidity level (or at least in a dry gig bag!). MOST IMPORTANT: I use Fast Fret before and after I play (some mineral oil on a lint-free cloth will work just about as well), and my Elixirs last months and months. It is a discipline, much like how the Samurai kept his blade clean, but will keep your strings in shape. For other brands, some tarnish or even rust may appear after a few weeks of normal use, and I would have to use WD-40 to remove it (just don't get it on the guitar's wood!!!). Sometimes it wouldn't help, and the strings (sometimes not even all of them, just the wounds or just the unwounds) would just sound dead and need to be replaced. Elixirs still sound good, and keep a consistent tone across all of the strings that sound nice. I can't say that they sound as bright as the day they came out of the package, but it's WAY more bang-for-your buck. I've also yet to see one spontaneously break on me under normal stress and tension, but I'm not about to tune my guitar higher to test my luck. I am a studio musician and play a lot, and from over 15 years of experience, these are my favorite strings. I'm currently recording an album with an Ibanez RG470 and the same strings I've had on for four months. Ask yourself: what's my time worth? Do I want to keep actually playing, or do I want to play guitar-tech all of the time? Changing strings sucks. Get Elixirs!

## Features

- 3-5 Times Extended Life of the Strings
- Feel like Traditional Strings
- The Original Coated String

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you confirm the packaging says "with anti-rust plain steels"?**
A: the set I ordered had the anti rust plain steels, these strings last quite a while but the high e string always seems to weaken after about a month and just snaps, even though all the strings still sound fresh when this happens. i have tried 5 sets of Elixir polywebs and every single set the high e gives up on me and snaps after about 4 or 5 weeks

**Q: I have a buzz on the D string 14 fret that I didn't have before. Anyone experience this after stringing up their guitar?**
A: I'm assuming you put on same gauge strings for it not to be a problem before you restringed the guitar and it only one string in the middle where the neck meets the body I think it's your action and check intonation but that's weird only the d string 🤨

**Q: I don't know what went wrong. A string broke under a week after I put the polyweb mediums on. Why did this happen?**
A: The only thing that I know of to cause that is over tension. Which I have done in the past by not realizing that I was tuning the string an octave higher that I should have. I don't remember which string it was but I had over tighten it while watching the tuner and tuned to the wrong octave. The string broke the next day, I ask a luthier what could have happened, he gave me the probable cause. When I replaced the string I was more careful tuning and realized that he was right I had over tighten the string. So that is something to consider as a possible cause. Since that happened a few years ago I have change many strings and never had it happen again.

**Q: Why is this cheaper than nanoweb coating? Also is the coating poisonous in any way?**
A: They last longer than nanoweb. I like them better

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The only strings for me!
*by K***T on May 26, 2026*

There are no other strings for me. For the small bump in price up front, you get that back with how long the strings last...a long time! They sound great and feel great.
