This isn't a book on decor, nor is it a book about lifestyle. Author India Hicks affords followers of her social media feeds a glimpse into her life, dispelling any notion that this lifestyle touted through her past product lines, books, and vacation homes is limited to only captivating pictures. A charming, self-effacing and inviting storyteller, Island Style is filled with interesting tales of her and her family's lives, going back through her heritage. It's this presumption of grandness of her aristocratic upbringing that is given a much needed dusting off and brought into the present. Her readers are taken from breathtaking photos of her horse-riding, tiara and tuxedo clad parents in the 1970's, to the present, when India Hicks is scraping cereal crud off steel bar stools and spray painting them red to save on money. Island Style is a refreshing book in the pantheon of books on decor, steering readers away from notions of 'perfection.' Being on an island everything in her house is either found nearby, reused, recycled, purchased used, inherited, or ordered (with some peril) over the internet, which echoes what the rest of us do, bringing us together on common ground. Hicks's approach is less about following current decorating trends, or getting stuck on one or two tricks, than it is following what makes her tick --which is curating a collection of objects that are practical, functional, interesting to create a look that is tactile, inviting, engaging and forever welcoming, giving everyone who reads or visits, a memorable experience.

Beautiful photos, well written and a “must” for those who favor British Colonial style. Would have liked more details regarding specific rooms, this text is an overview of a home. Alas, Cheers to India!

This is a beautiful book. The photos are visually stimulating, and thoughtfully curated. I am enjoying reading about India's upbringing and her insights into design and a "life well lived". Although she has had a privileged life compared to many, she seems to have a grasp on what is important in life and celebrates authenticity. Well done.

Amazing stories from the Royal Family and a lot of inspiration for a beautiful life style

This is a gorgeous book. India Hicks has such a dreamy Bahamas home. I love her style. Casual, traditional, comfortable. What’s not to love. It’s about her home and her life. Very cool. It’s makes for a gorgeous coffee table book as well.

I will begin my review by expressing my gratitude to company Speedster,that sold this to my, particularly for their support and assistance when the delivery company was less professional losing my parcel in the transit. Got promptly a replacement arranged by Speedyhen. The book is a great inspiration, from interior design point of view and not only and if you are,like me, an India Hicks fan, I highly recommend it. It is more a personal account,rather than interior design text book,but if you have a passion for design,it will enhance you skills and knowledge. Enjoy!

I’m not satisfied ,I’m disappointed with this book. It’s not worth the price. I was expecting nice designs about homes, but it’s all just about families, including the Royal family of England. I’m not happy with it. I’ll just use it as a table display that’s the only purpose it serves, because inside it’s worthless. Now I understand why the only photo shown was the front cover because the contents are terrible.Next time, please put bubble wrap so it won’t get damaged during delivery😭😡
