I now see lots of things I can paint
I began my search for a paint rig after I saw a conventional sprayer at a warehouse store for really cheap. After some research, I learned about a HVLP conversion gun that requires a compressor - a BIG compressor. Since I don't want to own a giant tank, and I wanted HVLP, I started looking at this model. I'm very pleased with my decision. I've painted three ugly lateral file cabinets for our office. They look great. Here's the measure of success for me: I bought used cabinets for $250, got a bid from a body shop to paint them for $350. Instead, bought this sprayer, paint, and took an afternoon to goof around with it - Total cost: $500.00 including cabinet price. My paint job looks great. The bonus is that I'm geared up to take on some home painting projects that I've been dreading. About the tool: Solid construction, easy adjustment, simple to use. I like the volume of paint. It's not too fast, just a really stable, steady flow of material. There is a very logical assembly of just 6 or 7 parts so cleanup is quick and easy. Also a small point that is important to me is that there is on-board tool storage for the wrench, paint tube brush, spare parts, etc. The turbine is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner. Finally, believe the HVLP claims of very low overspray. I am most impressed with this aspect of the sprayer. Overall, a very good tool for an occasional user with reasonably high expectations.

Great product.
I bought this sprayer to do various jobs around the house. I started off doing a utility room. No more having to cut in with a brush in the corners, this sprayer gets it all. It did a great job although I wish I would have ordered the thick material needle kit. This sprayer only comes with the medium and thin needles. The medium still worked well with the latex paint I was spraying. After the utility room I started on some pieces of trim. I always paint trim pieces before I install them and this worked great. All the grooves in the door casings got painted and the finish was smooth. Six panel doors, not a problem. All the nooks and crannies got a coat of paint on them. I haven't used it for staining and finish coats but from my experience so far I can't imagine any problems.

Good little sprayer.
I read a lot of reviews about this sprayer before making the purchase, and they helped alot, but there were still some surprises, mostly good. First, I haven't had any clogging problems. Cleanup takes a bit longer than normal, but it's not bad. Second, this unit is not as loud as advertised. In my garage, with the doors open, it's not bad, and I haven't felt the need for earplugs. It is not as loud as my shopvac. Third, the overspray problem that some have complained about, does not seem to be a problem for me. I was surprised by the heat buildup in the spray gun and hose... the low pressure air is very warm, but it is not a real problem. The only negative I can offer, is that the coverage rate is a little slower than I expected. I think this is a great sprayer for the money.

Very dependable tool
I have read the reviews on this item and would like to point out that the negative reviews mostly just refer to the performance of the gun. Spray guns are fickle animals and take some amount of experience to get the results you want. I have been operating one of these turbines for at least 15 to 20 years and it just burned out this week, and I am getting another of the same unit. I am a professional woodworker and have many many hours on this tool. I have gone through 2 or 3 hoses and at least 5 or 6 guns. As far as I can tell the turbine is absolutely identical to my old one, which says the company has not needed to change it. Yes, this is a cheap gun you can pay many hundreds of dollars for a better one; personally, I have always bought another of these when the one I had wore out (which they do for various reasons, sometimes my fault).

excellent product
Great product. Example: Project... paint dinette set twice yearly due to children abuse. historical approach... two hours brush paint time; 1/2 gallon paint; fair to middlin paint job. with Campbell Hausfeld HV2000... fifteen minutes paint time; 1 pint of paint; excellent finish/paint job. Clean up is about the same as with rollers and brush, only I don't feel like I am wasting my time...I usually have to throw out the cleaned rollers and brushes anyway as they never really get cleaned. Overall, excellent, excellent product. Highly recommended. Did equally well on other jobs too.

Item is not what's pictured.
I ordered the Campbell Hausfeld HV2000 based on the pic on Amazon's website and discussions with the folks at Campbell Hausfeld. The CH people told me that this model has the MP3311 spray gun (this is what is pictured). So I went ahead and ordered it. The gun that came with the unit was a lower quality gun that would come with HV1000 series systems. It had an aluminum cup and tip...but that was it. The rest of the gun was plastic. Very cheap. Very disappointing. I could have purchased this same unit at home depot for much less. Note that the 1-star rating is not due to the performance of the unit as I never bothered to use it. I used a CH HVLP in the past and was happy with it's performance. This one is going back to Amazon, and I'll order the HV2500 instead.

When it works, it's great. When it doesn't....
I am super-impressed with the powdery spray finish I can get with the HV2000. The kitchen cabinets I painted with it look fantastic. I don't find the noise or the plastic gun to pose any problems. And I like the compact design. However, I have had a difficult time getting consistent operation from this sprayer. Sometimes it works great. Sometimes, though, I have problems getting it to spray consistently, or at all. It spurts out some nice blasts for a few seconds, then nothing, then a few more seconds of spray, etc., etc., Then it often stops completely. Even cleaning the paint tube and the nozzle, then thinning the paint to the point where it drips easily on vertical surfaces, sometimes doesn't coax the spray out. The little aluminum drip gauge they supply to test the paint thickness is confusing and imprecise. I haven't used other spray guns, so I have nothing to compare this with, but to me, the cleanup procedure gets annoying. It's very difficult to get this thing clean, and it takes a long time. I'll only use this for times when I want the professional look of the sprayed finish. Otherwise, it's too much trouble. I'd happily pay 50 percent more for something that works better.

Good buy....you'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner.
Unit varies slightly from the photo in that the turbine case is grey rather than the blue shown. Otherwise works as advertised, the turbine is sufficiently powerful to spray latex paint when thinned according to instructions (15 % depending on viscosity). I've also sprayed water based primer. The finish is excellent and I'm quite happy with the unit. Note that it includes the general purpose needle and nozzle as well as the thin material needle and nozzle (for material such as varnish and lacquer). Quick connect fitting on the gun is handy.
