I've carried this on my dog walking bag with a easy release clip for over a year now and had the unfortunate experience of needing to use it for the first time this week. For context, I have a dog selective dog, who doesn't appreciate being rushed by strange dogs. I got it as a procaution, since a friend of mine had their dog attacked by an off leash dog whose owner couldn't care less. In our situation we tried de-escalating the situation and advocating for our space by asking the owner to "please leash your dog" first, and then when the dog still approached with stiff slow body language (I volunteer with dogs, I know this is what often predates a bite) I tried yelling at the dog and swinging the other end of my leash to create space. When that didn't work I felt I had to escalate to using this spray. It was a good solid easy to aim stream, that worked from a distance, I think the dog got to be about 6ft away from us before I decided to use it. I was able to aim right at its face no problem . I was expecting a huge reaction from the dog and it to immediately run away, but instead it made a grimace, marked a near by tree and then finally left us alone. It did make the dog leave quickly after spraying though. Where as my other tatics to create space didn't faze the dog (I've been approached by off leash dogs, and the leash swing and yelling has worked on all of them but this one) After this situation I considered carrying full strength pepper spray, but I ended up deciding to order this product again to make sure I always have a full can. It did what it was supposed to, and I think because I knew it was a dog specific formula, I felt confident in using it when other tatics to de-escalate didn't work. I wouldn't want to wait to use something until a strange off leash dog with aggressive body language gets too close and have a potential dog fight break out. Better to be prepared then have a blood bath. I absolutely think this product saved myself and my dog from a potential bite. Will recommend to all of my dog friends, and will never walk without it readily accessible. You can't control bad dog owners, but you can be confident you are prepared. I like the slim design, but did buy a separate quick release clip to keep it more readily available. The lock feature has always stayed put when not in use, but was easy to disengage when the time arrised.

It only took one incident while walking with my wife, newborn, and dog, to know I would never take a walk again without this protection. While out on a walk, a large dog off a leash sprinted towards me and my family. I have a small 15 lb dog and a baby in a stroller. The dog was aggressive with my dog, and while I was able to temporarily restrain it through holding its collar, it eventually slipped the collar off and continued to be aggressive with my family until it's owners arrived in a car a few minutes later. I'm thankful no one was bit or injured, and I can't even imagine if it had been a Pitbull or Rottweiler. With that incident in mind, the only responsible thing to do is learn from it and make sure I always have protection if another stray dog comes charging at my family. I never walk without it.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I ordered this product nearly 1.5 years ago. Fortunately, I haven't had the need to use it. Came close once, and was glad I had it with me. The plastic key ring connector recently broke. I reached out to the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement without fuss. Awesome customer service!!!

I’ve never had to use it and hope I never will. I take it when I walk my dogs because of big dogs running loose.

Unfortunately, I had to use this product today while walking my 2 dogs. A large aggressive dog was let out of its house by a child. It ran straight toward my smaller dog, a Russel mix. I tried to block the way, to no avail. It began mauling my dog...I deployed a small burst of spray to the attacking dog. This gave him pause, but he then started attacking again. I delivered a larger spray to its face...it then backed of and ran back to its house. My dog escaped with a bite/cut to his head. It would have been much, much worse without the spray. I hope the other dog is ok....I am a dog lover and only did this to protect my pups. As I write this my hand is still burning from the overspray. The product works. I hope you ever need to use it. Buying another right now, just in case.

This has become a MUST for me and my girl. She has been attacked by a XL bully , two chihuahuas, and a Belgian malinois, all just left tiny marks on her but she’d be scared to death. And some other dogs with irresponsible owners have ran up to her to bark in her face. I have managed to stop all of them before anything worse happened to her. She’s too sweet and nice and wouldn’t hurt a fly. She’s become very skittish because of all of that:(. I got this because someone recommended it to me and so far have only used it once and the dog ran the opposite direction. 100% recommend.

I had one of these on my dog leash for a couple of years, and lost it because it slipped out of the plastic sleeve. Not amazing, but understandable given the time I'd had it. Then, I ordered another one, and the little red trigger came out and got lost after about 6 weeks. I contacted sabre to try and get a replacement, but they made me jump through a bunch of hoops. Then they sent me a "return label" but there was no label included. I don't have the desire to go back and forth with them. Now I have to figure out a way to dispose of this worthless item. As with many things, quality is no longer there.

I purchased one of these canine sprays for my spouse to carry in her purse while out and about with the children, in case of an aggressive loose dog. As I hope will always be the case she has thus far had no reason to use it in a real life situation. I had her test fire it a couple times however, in order to ensure its functionality and so she would have a feel for the range and aim of the spray and can attest that the duration of bursts as well as the range are accurately stated. I will be purchasing a couple more of this company’s products to add to my preparedness supplies in case she ever does need to use the one she currently is carrying.

Bigger than the keychain one which I like quite a bit. Plus it’s pretty bright so I can find easily in my purse at night

Thankfully, I haven't had to use this. Please keep in mind that it has an expiration date. I tested it out after expired and found that it spurts rather than sprays. I wish I had tested it before it expired to see if that it was spreading instead of spraying due to the expiration or if it was the original mechanism.

I take my dog to a country off leash dog park which is beautiful, however there are the occasional coyote! Although, coyote attacks ate rare, I feel better knowing that I have this with me just in case! We'll made, easy to loop onto dog leash!

It small which is good because then I have it on the keychain I live where theirs a lot of coyotes so it makes me safe having it when I go on night walks
