So, yes, it does smell like rotten eggs or a geyser in Yellowstone. And yes, it is a shocking shade of rust orange. But it works! My cat has feline leukemia, and when we rescued a ferrel long-haired kitten, this beautiful golden nugget brought us more than just love - he brought ringworm. We've been "dipping" twice a week (all the cats in the house), and while it's not the most pleasant, it's not awful. Used in conjunction with oral agents (Itraconazole liquid or Lamisil tablets; go to GoodRx dot com if you need help affording oral lamisil), we've seen significant improvement. My nails get stained during the bath, but they soon return to normal. Orange-tinged fur returns to normal. Our towels haven't stained, nor has the porcelain of the tub - but I make sure to rinse everything thoroughly after use. Here are my tips: 1. My vet recommends 8 oz. to every one gallon warm water. No one wants a cold dip! 2. Make the environment pleasant. I heat up the bathroom with a space heater, have plenty of towels on the floor for quick access and soft landings, and make sure to keep calm and confident. The cats can tell! 3. I dip them in a Sterilite plastic tote, approx, 60qt. I put half of the gallon on the bottom, and have another 1/2 gallon in a pour container. Use the "scruff" method to help calm and control your fur ball, and place them gently in the warm basin. Make sure you palpate their paws to expose their claws to the solution, as ringworm can hide! Drizzle, rub, and gently pour the solution over the fur, all the while telling your cats how much you love them and they're worth it. I use a washcloth to get better coverage and permeation. 4. They may howl, meow, or look terrified - but none of my cats have ever hissed or become violent. Be careful though - they may try to climb you like a tree to escape the water. So watch their claws! 5. The head is tricky. Tip their head back and use a washcloth to gently rub the solution on the fur around their whiskers, mouth, ears, and eyes - making sure the solution doesn't go in. Some recommend using a toothbrush for this, but I found a soaked washcloth works better for me. Make sure you get the inner and outer aspects of their ears. 6. Don't panic if they lose fur during the process! Because ringworm lives in the hair follicles, shedding is a natural part of the healing process (it's also a ringworm symptom, so expect loose hairs or patchy loss). Make sure you brush before the bath and after they're dried to control the location of the hair loss, and keep the environment clean. You may also notice scaly skin (like the world's worst dandruff), but it will get better! Vacuum, swiffer, and chlorox wipes are your friend. Good luck! It's a struggle, but it's doable. My fur-amily is completely worth it!

We are fostering a litter of kittens and have so many problems, it's unreal. Ringworm (fungus) was just one of the problems we have experienced. We tried over the counter medications in several forms and they help, but you have to dab every site and new sites pop up. I bought this and used as directed, it's mixed with water and applied to the kittens. We actually dipped our kittens in a bucket of the solution, making sure we didn't get any in their eyes or mouth. The smell wasn't bad to me because I'm used to much worse sulfur smells from wells. Anyway, the kittens didn't mind the dip at all. It was very hard to keep them from trying to groom themselves afterwards, but nobody got sick from it. At first the kittens were yellow from the dip, but the yellow color goes away as the dip dries. This product is left to dry and is not wiped or washed off. A week later, a slight sulfur smell lingers on the kittens, but the ringworm areas are completely gone and new growth of hair is visible. I highly recommend this product to rid your animals of ringworm (fungus).

Did this outside as recommended by other reviewers who said it smells like rotting eggs....NO JOKE it's awful! I bought rubber gloves that extend all the way to my elbows and wore protective eye wear....your pet will try to get away and splash you a bit in the effort. How would you like to be dipped in this stank? My dogs are white and turned yellow, but it seemed to wear off after a while. Checked them a few hours later and they were both fine, ate well, and I haven't seen them scratching. Threw away their bedding that probably had flea eggs, ordered new. Haven't seen anything crawling around yet. Looks good so far!

my poor persian male named grimlin has mange/bumpy itchy/irritated skin, i 1st put 3oz in 1 gallon of water and dipped him, i quickly realized one bottle is meant for only one dip because your supposed to put 4 oz in 1 gallon so i bottled my last precious ounce of sulfur and dipped him in the bucket, he as not happy my husband and i had scratches everywhere but after putting on a collar to prevent licking til he dried he seemed content with no itch, until 6 days afterwards he was itching again and seemed irritated so i realized i didnt have enough sulfur to dip him in a gallon again so i put my remaining sulfur in a old windex cleaning bottle and put hot water to the top and guess what ?! were on week 4 and there is still plenty of the bottled sulfur left to spray on to his fur, not dipping him into a gallon of the stuff i havent had scratches since i started spraying him, but shake the new mixture before you spray you your cat, dont get in eyes or ears so i spray and rub into the furr with my hands and he likes it better than being dipped and it still works as well as being dipped and the stuff last longer this way, but you have to heat up the mixture before each spray or your cat will be pissed off that your spraying him with cold mixture, do not put the bottle in the microwave, just fill up the kittchen sink with hot water and let the spray bottle sit in the hot water it will heat up that way, and yes my cat grimlin, he licks himself after it dries but i give him a bowl of milk to suck up any sulfer he is ingesting and he is again content with no itch til day 5, i am also giving him twice a day immune support drops for cats that i bought from amazon too and its better than a huge vet bill and a shot of poison the vet would give him so, thats my review, i also just bought a shampoo that is called "SynergyLabs VF Clinical Care Antiparasitic,Antiseborrheic Medicated Shampoo, 17oz" i havent recieved it yet but it has amazing reviews so i plan on working this into his weekly spray of sulfer and immune support and its better again than stressing him out to the vet when this seems to be working wonders UPDATE- THE SHAMPOO MENTIONED ABOVE IS A MIRACLE WORKER, FORGET BUYING THE LIME DIP JUST BUY THE SYNERGY LABS VF CLINICAL CARE ANTIPARASITIC, ANTISEBORRHEIC MEDICATED SHAMPOO. my cat is HEALED completley!!!! thank god, and no vet bill ;) buy the shampoo on amazon, shampoo your pet every 3 days till no longer needs the shampoo worked within 2 weeks for my cat yay! good luck, thanks

While applying this product to my pets, I was afraid of the orange color staining the fur. Thankfully it did not. I used it on grown cats and a 70pound dog, all of which are inside/outside animals. I am hoping by the time it drys the product will not stink, but right now my pets smell like boiled rotten eggs. My house smells like it as well. It is worth the price, directions are simple, the smell I can not get over. I even lefts a 1:1 bleach water in my kitchen sink and tub but the bleach did not overpower the product smell, I could not smell the bleach, and I have a sensitive sense of smell. I won't be buying this again unless a scented or completetly unscented option is available.

Loved it!! It smells like rotten eggs and turned my dog yellow. It also fixed his skin problem. Whether it was a mange, mites or just allergies it fixed the problem. I also used cotton balls dipped in the stinky stuff to clean his ears. The scabbing and swelling looked 100x better in acouple of days. After making sure I mixed it correctly, I poured some into a spray bottle. After I dipped him I used the spray bottle on the hard to reach areas and for treatment on the worst areas throughout the week. After he dried he didn't smell too bad. He'll need a couple more dips but he looks ablot better and he stopped itching. Make sure you do it outside and leave your dog to dry completely. Also make sure you give the dog a good scrubbing with shampoo before the dip. I'm not sure how the stuff would work on a long hair pet. Mine is a short hair. And follow through with additional treatments. It will probably take 3 or 4 dips to completely fix the problem. I'm so glad I tried it.

Thank you thank you thank you. My kitty is on the mend and the gross disgusting spot is finally healing rather than becoming worse. I ordered this after coming to the conclusion my kitty had ring worm -- one big spot on the back of his neck. I did lots of googling and YouTube watching for tips.... in the end, my mom gave me some good common sense advice for any situation that involves a cat and water which helped, and I coordinated her suggestions with other tips I had learned from researching. I made a whole gallon with this bottle and used it all in one sittting as most directions said; essentially submerging the cat's entire body and carefully soaking every square inch. I plan to buy one more bottle, but this time after making a gallon, I will only soak the infected area with about a cup or so and save the rest to repeat the process of soaking just the infected spot area over the course of the month until the gallon is gone. The ring worm was not really spreading to other parts of the kitty and seems to be only affecting that area so I do not think it necessary to put the kitty, or myself, for that matter thru the kind of messy smelly dangerous hell that we went thru the first time. Lolz.

My dog has had problem skin for years since he was rescued from neglectful owners who left him to get infested with fleas and ticks. It's been a battle getting his skin irritations and infections under control, not to mention the amount of money I've spent on vet bills, more and more expensive foods, etc. The vet said we should do a Sulphur lime dip. She said I could do it at home but it smells terrible so I'd probably want to have it done at her office. I decided to go the cheap route and give it a try myself. My dog had areas of trouble, his arm and leg pits and his anus and underside of his tail. The product does indeed smell terrible so, rather than dip him, I made a mixed water + product solution that I put in a spray bottle. I asked my dog if he wanted to go for a walk. He got excited as usual and we went outside and I pretty much blind sided him with the product. I sprayed those areas then started walking him before he had time to freak out. The walk distracted him from licking and gave the product time to dry. Once we returned home, the smell was minimal. I repeated this process each week for 4 weeks and he's no longer constantly scratching and licking. I also bathe him once a week with medicated shampoo, which never really helped his skin issues much, so I know the Sulphur lime dip has been quite effective. I just wanted to share the spray bottle tip to save others from the headache of full emersion application if your dog only has isolated areas like mine did.

I have a cat that was losing her hair and had very sore looking skin that happened almost overnight. She did not have fleas and is an indoor cat, i couldnt get her to a vet due to covid so researched and researched and every possible cause pointed towards this as a treatment. Its expensive for a small amount and I was not prepared for the stench BUT after the very first treatment her skin has cleared up and within days her fur is growing back. I am going to do 3 baths over the next 3 weeks as was recommended by a vet nurse i know just to be sure whatever it was has gone. So glad for her shes so much more comfortable.
