I opened and assembled, started a fire and the copper bowl turned black. I was excited about the copper look but really dissatisfied?

It is going to happen to any fire pit. The copper looks good in the beginning but will become black due to heat and soot. The main reason to buy copper is to prevent rust.

Why does it say copper firepit made with genuine copper but then under details it says material aluminum?

Hi, That is a mistake on the listing that it will be fix soon. The material of the bowl is cooper and the stand is made of steel with a powder coat.

What is the gage or thickness of the copper???

Don’t know, but it’s thick enough, not flimsy.
