can this rack be used for 8 ball?

You get both racks. 8 ball and 9/10 ball. Worth every penny. Takes a few times to get the hang of it, then it's faster and tighter than a regular rack.

How so you guys take this to the pool hall? Hang it on your cue case?

I leave it in the packaging, roll it tightly around my cue grip and slide into the case. When I take it out, I roll it the opposite way around the cue and this flattens it out.

Has anyone tried using these with uk pool balls? i'm uncertain if they'll fit. uk balls are 2 inches.
