The Bonsai Beginner's Bible

This book came packaged well. It is much more detailed than I expected and has a lot of information, including species and pictures. It seems good for anyone who is interested in the art of Bonsai, whether new or experienced. I am a beginner and found it easy to understand and I would expect someone who knows Bonsai might use this "bible" as an informative reference.

I bought this as a gift to go with a beginner Bonsai tool set. Just thumping thru it my husband said it had a lot of good information. As a beginner he said it was helpful to have.

I couldn't give 5 star because it was missing a very key element of working on bonsai's, there is no information about shaping. How to shape the tree, which style would best fit the tree and how to define the movement in the tree. I do like the pictures and information about the different types of trees. It's small and compact and I carry the book with me when shopping for my next bonsai.

Great information

This was a gift for family member who received a plant and wanted more information on how to care for it. Altho I would recommend getting in contact with a local Bonsai group if available, this is a basic bible for bonsai care.

Who thought there would come a time when so many books would be published like they were pocket field guides? Nothing against the author or his content, but when the publishers start using 10 and 6pt font because they have shrunk the physical size of the books so much, they literally should come with a warning or maybe an enlarging lens. In actuality, the book is too big to fit in your average pocket, but requires a magnifying glass to read, at least for my aging eyes.

I have followed Peter Chan's YT channel for some time and appreciate his expert but un-intimidating teaching style. With this compact little book I have all the info at my fingertips. It starts with all the basics of pruning and shaping (total newbie here) The info is very well organized and consistent for all plant types, many clear photos on strong water-resistant paper (I'll take it to my greenhouse). I'm super thrilled.

Very informative on some of the best trees/shrubs to use in creating Bonsai and how to care for them. Peter Chan is a Bonsai master and this book is a great lesson on how to get started.

For a low price, you receive a small factor handy book, with useful overall informations - general instructions in bonsai knowledge and techniques - more that 100 different trees species exposed on double-page with story and care informations - hundreds of pictures to illustrate all of that (per tree, on full tree example and one detail pic each) To have in your pocket ! I discovered Peter Chan through Heron's Bonsai youtube channel - a master on realistic Bonsai passion

Very nice book filled with a multitude of pictures, haven't read the whole book but flicked through managing to find bits I wanted fairly quickly so a good overall book for beginners but also competent bonsai keepers. Apart from the pictures, there is a lot of good advice, well laid out, and easy to understand even for a complete novice. The only thing that could be improved is the size, the book is rather small, a little bigger than pocket size I would say, so the text is quite small but nonetheless a very good informative book.

Ho scoperto Peter Chan quasi per caso. Oltre a essere molto competente, con la sua levità di linguaggio e la semplicità delle spiegazioni ti fa appassionare all'arte del Bonsai, cosa che non avevo mai considerato prima.
