Worth the money
This is pretty easy to set up however I miss the days you could bring a modem home hook it up and be all set Now having to contact the service provider really puts a wrench in things. I don't know about all providers but I'm going to tell you if you have Spectrum comcast adelphia time warner and what ever else they call them selves in your area the easiest thing to do is go to their website to the install your device and put in the mac address before you hook it up because if you hook up and try to register the site is going to cycle forever. I went to the site entered to mac address then hooked everything up when that was done I was able to to through the rest of the process pretty quickly. HOWEVER they don't tell you that once it's finished on the website and tell you your ok to go online you might not be. Sometimes it takes as much as 30 minutes after registration is completed before you can actually get online. I didn't know this was fed up didn't want to deal with this anymore tried to hook up the old modem and it wasn't recognized so I put the new one back on deciding I'd deal with the cable company the next day, I went and did some house work and other stuff came back about half hour later when I was going to pack up the computer for the night when I noticed I was online. All I can say is have patience with the process the modem is good works great I'm glad I bought is for replacement and is compatible with many companies

SIMPLE SWAP WITH XFINITY
Cable has been acting up for a couple of weeks and I noticed the modem's light were flashing differently and intermittently. Ordered the modem and it came the SAME DAY!!! I just used the same power cord and Ethernet cable for the new modem. It took all of one minute. Turned it on and waited for all the 4 lights to turn green and the bottom one to turn amber. It took about 20 minutes. It did keep on resetting, but that was expected. Called Xfinity with the new MAC#. They reset everything. I then reset the router and I was back in business. Total time from beginning to end (including waiting on the phone with Xfinity) about an hour and a half. Now I have a good connection and the speed of the internet seems super fast now. The old modem was installed in 2017. I am extremely happy with purchase.

Be Patient during setup
Working great with "Excellent Signal Strength" throughout 2-story 2,000 sq ft home. Took about 25 min to finally get downstream, upstream AND internet lights all on. Kept getting "stuck" on internet light (the 4th one), and would start all over again, but once it became a constant internet light, it's been working flawlessly. Very satisfied. I have an Archer router connected to it. Great pairing.

Nice for a Refurbished modem - worth the money
My main dislike was that it only came with a simple setup manual of only a couple pages that was next to useless. Once I got my input cable repaired (broke it removing my old modem) and hooked up the CM1000v2, It kept re-booting and re-booting (they said it would do this several times in the setup) and still it would not find my internet provider's signal (COX and I've been a customer nigh on 20 years), I used my phone and downloaded the full manual. After reading through that, I did what the little included pages did not say, especially since this was a re-furb. I connected my computer to the modem and logged on to it. Did a "Factory Reset" you can do this with a recessed button and I highly recommend doing that as soon as you get it. It still didn't find the signals, but instead of waiting until the proper light stayed lit as the book said, I called COX's tech service (using a different provider and if you had DOCSIS 3.1my old one was 3.0, this may work differently) I gave them the serial# and MAC address of the modem. They set me up there and told me it would take 20 minutes or more for this modem to find all the channels and begin working. Be patient, the tech was right. Took almost 50 minutes, but finally it was on line and wow what a difference it makes over the old CISCO (DOCSIS 3.0) modem I had been using for over 5 years without ever turning it off. Now, we'll see how well this re-furb stands up to 24/7 continuous operation and I may revise my review at a later date if it stops working, but for right now, I love it.

Defective product, twice.
Twice in a row received a broken modem. Right out of the box, set up properly, the lights indicated a problem with the motherboard. Extremely unhappy. I ordered this because I had the same modem that I bought 1.5 years ago, and it worked well. I figured I'd just get the same with a protection plan. Guess that was a bad plan.

the Netgear Nighthawk is a good looking modem and works well.
i purchased this modem to replace an older modem that only allowed speeds up to 175 mbps, this modem allows me to access 400 mbps. my old modem was only letting me access 130 mbps and now my cell phone is getting 270 mbps, so this modem works very well and the difference is noticeable, everything streams faster and smoother, video games are working much better on our nintendo switch, no lag. when i received the Nighthawk, i just plugged the power, the coaxial cable and the ethernet cable connected to the router, then i contacted my isp, i gave them the new mac number for the Nighthawk and they they activated the new modem, after that i just re-started the modem and router and it was working. it was simple and only took about fifteen minutes from start to finish, the Netgear Nighthawk looks and works like new so i am happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their modem.

Good value depending on longevity
Amazon Renewed product. Did a factory reset on it and then went through the activation process with Xfinity via their mobile app. Activation went flawlessly, and the unit is functioning within design parameters. This is a good value product, depending on longevity. --Don't forget to log into the modem and change the default password. I found to do this you have to turn the modem off, unhook the coaxial cable (but leave the data cable from the router connected)), and then turn the modem back on. After it completed its start-up I was able to connect to 192.168.100.1 and access the modem log-in page via a browser. Input the default user and password that's on the bottom of the modem. It will prompt you to change the default.

Almost 1 year later!
I ordered this back on October 4, 2023, its now September 1, 2024 so its been almost a year. I was a bit skeptical about how well this would do given some of the negative reviews and the fact that I bought it as a 'renewed' item. I replaced my old Arris Surfboard Docsis 3.0 modem and let me tell you this thing doubled my internet speeds. Its been a workhorse since then. The setup is super easy and it kinda just sets itself up for you. I've had to power cycle this thing several times whenever I see super slow speeds or Netflix isn't loading. Its the whole turn it off and back on again and that's the only thing I've ever had to do to fix any issues with speed. The last time I had to reboot it was probably over a month ago. I can't recommend this enough to anyone wanting to get a discounted, high quality item!

Wrongly recommended
My ISP has a more nuanced choice than the "suitable for Cogeco" It is not good for my area and has to be returned. Not a manufacturers problem.
