SME Bullseye Sight-in Range Camera, Long-Range Target Camera System, Multiple Range Options

I know there were some negative reviews about this item, but mine seems to work great. It's possible that earlier versions of this camera and software were lacking. When dealing with high-tech items, they become obsolete at a fast pace, and upgrades can be far ahead of previous units in improvement and ability. I've had mine out on my home range three times now, and I can verify it works great to 1/2 mile, getting a full signal. I've tried the software on both a Motorola moto z4 running Android v10, and a HP chromebook running the latest version of Chrome. If I encounter any problems, I'll upgrade my review. The software has many great features, and I haven't tried them all yet. The software runs in landscape mode, so it looks great running full screen on the HP Chromebook. And, it is much better and easier to use on the Chromebook than it is on the phone. The software allows you to place the camera off-center from the target out of the line of fire, and then let you skew the image so it appears to be sitting right in front of the target. You can also place the camera much farther back than the recommended 15 feet, and zoom in on it. I got a good clear image from as far back as 36 feet. The software also has a "live view" mode that lets you view the raw camera image that appears to update every 1/2 second. I found myself using this feature a lot. For low lite/night shooting, the camera has LEDs that can be set to come on automatically in low light. One of the neatest features it has is the ability to overlay the target with a grid pattern of 1/4, 1/2, 1 MOA or 1/10 MRAD squares that are properly sized for the distance you are shooting. It can also let you "mark" your shots on the target, and save your shooting session. You can also recall saved target images with marks for later review. As I said, this package has a lot of bells and whistles that I haven't played with very much yet, but I will adjust my review if I have any problems. So far, I'm pretty impressed. Edit 04/17/2024 I tried "hiding" the camera behind a 34" square steel plate at 1/2 mile to protect it from stray bullets. It was still able to get plenty of signal back to the unit at the shooting bench and worked flawlessly.

-I've tested LR-3 and loved it. Figured I'd give this a buy for almost a quarter of the price. -Gets the Job done, wish the image resolution was a little higher. -Sets up fine. Doing the layout of the target can take a bit of practice or it smooshes on the screen (live always shows the whole camera) I tend to just turn off the target crop option. -The receiver stores on the bottom of the unit which is nice and charges all at once. -Storage bag gets the job done, LR-3's case is muchhhh nicer. But you could always upgrade to a hard case for this. -The image quality is not as good as the LR-3. My biggest complaint. So zooming into your target gets blurry at about the same spot at the LR-3. Sighting in anything at .223/5.56 round and below is difficult. Have to start moving the camera closer to the "danger zone." -The antenna lock lever is going to wear out the plastic set gear at some point. It doesn't seem to actually lock in place real well. Side screw to tighten barely improves it. I can't tell if the lever goes inside to lock or outside. Both seem to hold the same. -Has the switching "last picture and current picture" to see a hole in the target like the LR-3, but actually runs longer/ constant. The moa adjustment it suggests on marked dots gets the screen a little crowded. -I never got to test either sets of cameras at the mile yet so distance (main reason people are looking at this I'm sure) I can't comment on yet. -Has a couple LEDs around the camera and the on/off switch for them is on the bottom. Haven't tested how well they actually work for seeing your target in the dark but I guess it probably has a use for someone. -Another use someone might have is the 2 person modes. Shoot targets against each other. For the price, it gets the job done and has good value for the money. If you've been spoiled with the LR-3, you are going to be looking for a little more clarity than this can give you. But for the price of putting it downrange versus the competition, it's a lot less stressful. I'll end up buying another one if this ever takes an unintentional round.

I had the old bull’s-eye camera system from about 10 years ago. This is light years ahead of where that was compact well-made easy to set up. I’ve only used it a couple times at about 100 yards so don’t have any long distance comparisons on hook up, but so far very happy with it.

A friend of mine recommended this camera to me since I recently had surgery on my foot and couldn't walk back and forth to check my targets. I took it out as far as 1015 yards and it works great. Well worth the money and it's easy to set up. I was surprised that the battery lasted as long as it did. I took it out one weekend, and didn't go out again to the range for another 4 weeks or so, and the batter was still nearly full. Good product and very sturdy.

It's sad to be writing this review but it had to be done. I used this camera about 5 times without issue. Even at 1,000 yards it was flawless. Put it on the shelf for a couple months and took it to the range August 14th, again at the 1,000 yard line, and all I got on my iPad and Android phone was a black screen. I normally used the iPad but I have used it, up to this point, on both Android and Apple without issue. Up to this point reiterated. I was able to power up the camera and receiver as normal, connected to the Bullseye dedicated wifi, but was never able to get any targets to appear. I am pretty techy so I tried all the usual suspects. Restarted all the devices (phone, iPad, camera, and receiver). I have disconnected and "forgotten" the wifi connection, reestablished the connection and still either received a black screen or "Failed to Connect" message on the Bullseye target manager. I even deleted the app and downloaded again. Still nothing. I submitted a Warranty request two days ago with no indication how long it would take to get a response. Edit: after posting this review, they sent me the approval for the Warranty and I sent back the camera yesterday. I called the customer service line and never connected to anyone and waited for 50 minutes for someone to connect with me before giving up. I'm not sure anyone is manning the phones. It is really sad because I purchased this last September for $498.19, I see it is now sold for $299.99. Wonder why the drastic price drop? Trying to get rid of them?

Have used this camera on a range shooting targets out to 500yds and it worked great! The camera and app was easy to set up. A little practice is needed when setting up app for recording multiple groups but once we figured it out the recording of groups worked with NO issues. The picture quality is good enough for what a target camera needs to do - let you see your hits on target. We have been able to set the camera up low and to the side of the target to keep it out of the bullet path and as long as your guns are zeroed and you are doing your job making proper windage and elevation adjustments it would be impossible to hit the camera.

Quite disappointed when I first got it due to it not connecting with any of my tablets or phones. Found it finally connected after going into airplane mode. The app is not great. Little glitchy, very slow, wish they would update it. But over all, I got it at a great price and it's really helpful with sighting in. Saves a lot of shots and makes spotting/marking shots simple.

you can buy a spotting scope for slightly less and pray that you can actually see where you hit the target or you can set this down range and I guarantee you will see where you hit the paper. Why I didnt buy this before is a mystery because this just made life so much easier. I hate it when someone writes a review and doesnt describe the limits that were push and in what conditions. I’ll explain further. 300 yard range in florida 100 degree weather and a bright sunny day. shooting 308 out of an ar10. you know what helps you learn to shoot? knowing where the bullet hit is a good start. I set it on the ground about 7 feet in front of a regular paper target. I have a 12.9 inch ipad pro and its ok in direct sunlight. but even better in a little shade. I have the range extender but did not use it. the image was crisp and clear even when i was viewing from the tin roof shed that blocks overhead sun. good product. I qualified for the 600 yard range today so next week ill try the range extender.
