As a keen hobbyist mechanic, I always try to perform most work on my cars over the years.Whilst performing these works, it is always handy to have a good quality torch to help illuminate those dark hard to reach areas within the engine bay or even inside the interior of the car.I have purchased many torches over the years, all of which eventually broke. However I have now just discovered a torch which not only has outstanding build quality, but is super bright and has saved me on a few occasions.The Nebo NB6737 Big Larry 2 flashlight torch.This torch has a very high quality build when held in your hand, very similar to those maglite torches. (those are expensive if I remember)It’s not small enough to just fit in your pocket. Although there is a smaller version available if it suits your requirements better called the Nebo Lil LarryThe torch is really bright. 500 lumens output. Which can be dimmed down to extend the battery if desired.It features a focused beam spot light on top, a work side light to illuminate a large area and a flashing red light option for a distress situation.The best bit about the torch is that it features the use of 3x AA batteries. None of this lithium ion battery technology that will last only a few years.AA batteries will always be available to buy anywhere. You can keep spares in the car and they never discharge over time. Perfect!A perfect addition to the glove box, and with it not costing the earth you can buy another one for the tool box indoors.I also had a situation where I had a flat tyre, the torch came so handy. Its magnetic base attached itself to the top of the wheel arch giving hands free illumination to the wheel area on the side of the road.It was a dark cold night, this torch saved me and made the whole situation that much easier.The base can be attached to the underside of the bonnet too, so that you can work on your engine at night or if you have broken down.I cannot recommend this torch enough. Buy it!

I defy anyone to purchase a better flashlight than this for the money. It’s amazingly bright and built like a tank, so versatile and has many options you can even dim it. Comes complete with batteries, it’s made of aluminum and has a magnetic base that is so very powerful it will hang upside down for hands free work. It was love at first use so I bought two.

This is my second Nebo torch. I had an original Big Larry, but it went walk about at work, so I thought I'd try the Big Larry 2.It comes blister packed (Photo 2), so would make a nice present.Made from Aluminium, it feels very well built and solid in the hand.The battery cover has a nice rubber o ring, so I have no reason to doubt its water resistance claims.Size wise, it's a little bigger than the original Big Larry, at 198mm long.It takes 3 AA batteries (supplied) and when they are inserted, it has a total weight of 200 grams.Like the original, it has a good strong magnet in the base, but also now has a pocket clip at the top. This clip also has a hanging hole.Because of the weight, it's fine for clipping onto trousers or an internal pocket in a jacket, but is probably too heavy for a front shirt pocket.The main difference between this Big Larry 2, and the original, is the inclusion of a focused torch on the top.It's a good bright beam.At a distance of 2m it has a main beam area diameter of 40cm, which, if my calculations are correct gives a beam angle of 11 degrees.So it's quite tight, but very usable, with a working distance of 20m plus.The COB flood is very bright and lights up everything within the area.It's makes for a really good work light, with good even coverage.The other COB modes of constant red and red flash, are good and bright and work well if you need them.You can also set the level of brightness to conserve battery power if you wish.Once you are in your chosen mode, if you then keep your finger on the 'on' button, it will fade down to its lowest level. It will then flash, and then fade back up to its highest level. Obviously you release your finger at the required level.It always turns on at full brightness.I have included 2 night photos of both the torch and the COB in use in a room 8m long. Photo 1 is the COB light, Photo 3 the top torch light.The modes are all accessed from one button on the front. Cycling through, torch, COB, red constant and red flash and lastly, off.An improvement over the original Big Larry is that you no longer have to cycle through all options to turn the light off.So long as it has been on for at least 3 seconds, a quick press of the button will switch the light off.The light always comes on in the top torch mode. It does not remember the last mode you were in.One thing to note, when you receive the torch it will be in demo mode, which means it will switch itself off after 10 seconds.To cancel this, remove the batteries, press the on button, then reinsert the batteries.Overall, this is another great torch from Nebo. The addition of the top pencil torch is very welcome and build wise its still as sturdy as ever.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

The Big Larry 2 has the addition of a flashlight at the end as well as the work light feature on the side. Both are very bright. It also has a steady red light and a flashing red light. Press and release the button to cycle through the four modes. Holding down the switch causes the selected light mode to dim. However, hold it down too long and it reverts to full brightness, so it's a bit tricky to obtain the required level without practice.You have to cycle through all the remaining modes to reach the OFF position, which is a bit of a nuisance and when switched back on, it reverts to full brightness.It seems solidly made and has a reassuring weight and quality feel. The magnetic end cap is very strong.

This seems like a good quality torch for the price.It feels well made and solid. The single button has a nice action to it. The red light mode for preserving night vision is nice to have as an option, although probably not something a lot of people will use often.Battery life is what you should expect. LED torches are very efficient these days, so it basically comes down to a tradeoff between size/weight and brightness. If you want a torch that lasts a long time, then buy one with a really big battery and low intensity light. If you want something that lights up the entire countryside, then don't expect it to last very long unless you have a car-sized battery pack. This torch seems to be in a sweet spot by being small enough to carry in a pocket and bright enough to be useful, and the most useful tool is the one you are likely to have with you when you need it, not the one you left behind because it is too much hassle to carry.I'd say this is a little bit big and heavy to carry around with you all the time - I have a very small Lenser P3 that I always have in my pocket for unexpected emergencies - but it is small enough to slip in a trouser pocket when you are expecting you might be needing it, like when taking the dog out for an evening walk.

A great little universal torch. I have a disturbing amount of torches but couldn't resist this one...... so much so, I bought another for no reason!It is a good solid torch with a standard throw front torch or the cob light. Most of my torches use special batteries, so this is great to have as it uses standard household batteries....and very sparingly.The cob is what I like - it has a lower and bright setting. Superb to illuminate any area, even in daylight it is noticeable. I do a lot of work on vehicles and this is ideal for illuminating any area. It has a magnetic base so stands on end perfectly. It is a very strong magnet so won't vibrate off i.e. if it is sat in the engine bay with motor running. The magnets on the cheaper ones are not very strong.Knocks the spots of the cheap ones you will see when searching cob lights. NEBO are a quality brand and having one of these for the price of two cheaper unbranded ones is still a better way to go if you want high power brightness and usability. If you don't require it to be the brightest star in the sky, then the cheaper ones may be more suitable for you.

This tourch is one of the best I've owned. A contractor was using this tourch in our house while he was doing some electrical works i was able to get my hand on it I was so impressed I bought one. Tough waterproof and a bright white lightIt's not rechargeable but boy is it bright strong magnet at the bottom for hands free and a belt clip too. It's definitely NOT pocket friendly as it is long take 3 AA batteries

I owned the original Big Larry the big Larry 2 highlights some of the short fallings and makes a product which I really can't find a fault with.This torch is very well made and extremely bright the magnet on the base is strong and will hold the flashlight inverted or at 90' to the ground. it is not so strong that it is a struggle to pull off.the red flashing mode I hope never to need as this torch now lives in my car and I can only see this mode being used to ward people of my location.The top light is independent of the side light. You can't have both on at the same time but I don't see this as a short coming.All in all this is a fantastic torch for the car, work place or stocking present.

Ottimo prodotto, fascio potente utilizza pile stilo ed è dotata di base magnetica per attaccarla a parti metalliche e non doverla impugnare avendo così le mani libere. Io la tengo in auto, ma è utile anche in casa. Ha 3 modi diversi di utilizzo: il classico fascio tipo pila con LED a luce bianca, un LED laterale da 50x15mm ideale per illuminare una zona più ampia, lo stesso LED laterale ad una ulteriore pressione del pulsante di accensione mi può dare luce rossa fissa e lampeggiante. Per me un acquisto molto utile.

This is a great flashlight/car light ! Very bright light, nice flashing light for car trouble and portable. I will order another - good to have a couple around the house in case of power outages, etc.
