FELIWAY Classic Cat Calming Pheromone Travel Spray (20 mL)

This product did seem to calm our cat down, but not in any way that we expected. Our cat came to us as an approx-3 month old kitten, stray, almost feral, so she was never properly socialized. All her life (she's now 6 yrs old), she's been TERRIFIED of any humans other than myself and my husband; our son was actually the one who first insisted that we keep her, but he moved out when she was just a few months old, and when he recently moved back home, our kitty was understandably very stressed out about it -- we were finding it nearly impossible to keep her from hiding constantly under the bed, or in the garage behind the toolboxes. We knew this couldn't continue, so I did some online research and came across this "Feliway" spray, and I also ran across a mention here in Amazon reviews which told me that the other brand of this Feliway stuff was not nearly as effective as this Ceva brand. If you're buying this to prevent your cat from shredding your furnishings, I think it will be extremely effective for that, because what we found was that when we sprayed it in areas to which our cat had previously been very partial -- some of her perches in the garage, and other places -- she suddenly avoided those places like the plague. She's just now, over a month later, beginning to revisit and reclaim those spots as her own. However as far as inducing calm, this spray was VERY effective, even with the small amounts we were able to introduce to her awareness; within a few days of spraying this in various places in the house, she stopped running away the moment she spotted our son, and began spending more time simply wandering the house in her usual fashion, rather than seeking out hiding places. This allowed her to become accustomed to his presence, and within a couple weeks, she was offering him headbutts of affection, allowing him to pet her, and purring loudly when he would pet her, even rolling over to permit tummy rubs. If you want to use this to keep your cat from being stressed about being crated for journeys, I think it might be most effective to first crate the cat, THEN insert the towelling onto which you've sprayed some of this pheromone spray; if you insert the sprayed towel first, I think the cat will be even less inclined to get into the crate -- it seems to indicate to the cat that the territory belongs to some other animal, so they avoid that area. Or maybe our cat behaved that way because she was removed from her litter and abandoned at such a young age, so she never became socialized even to other cats, nevermind humans other than those who first fed her. But the stuff is EXTREMELY effective for inducing calm, even the prolonged sleep for which cats are justly famous. It doesn't make them high or giddy the way that tranquilizers can, it just makes them a bit lethargic -- calm in the extreme. It really works!

Moved from Pittsburgh, PA to the Berkshires of MA and had three cats in the car for eight hours. None of these cats have ever been incredibly easy to deal with in the car, but I could see a marked difference in their behavior after using this spray. I sprayed the entire car about 20 minutes before I put the carriers in. The carriers and bedding had been sprayed a few times as well. Although the cats were a bit mouthy during the bumpier parts of the trip in construction zones, they mostly just sort of went into that dark place cats go into when they aren't happy and dealt with it. I then used the rest of the spray around the new house before I let them out of the carriers and they adjusted very quickly. By the next morning they were behaving as if they had always lived here. Really a great product in my opinion, but it is my understanding that some cats do not respond to this at all.

I sprayed the calmer inside pet carrier, fifteen minutes before placing cat inside. However, it had no effect on her.

This stuff is amazing. I drove cross country with my 15 year old cat and she is anxious and scared on a good day. I followed the recommendations of my vet and the enclosed instructions. I sprayed it in the carrier about an hour before travel began. Before I had even traveled 15 minutes she had settled down and wasn't crying any more. After about 4 to 5 hours she began to meow occasionally and then a little more often. I didn't wan tto have to stop and drag her out of the carrier scaring her because she fights so much getting back into it. I had the carrier covered with a blanket so I sprayed the underside of the blanket where it went deown over the front and both sides. After letting the alcohol smell dissipate for about 15 minutes, I flopped the sprayed sides back sown over each area and within minutes my kitty was quiet again. During our travels, I was able to take her out and clean the carrier, give her food and water and she was much easier to get back into the carrier and never had any motion sickness. When I hadn't heard from her in many hours, I would peek in and she was never asleep but always just calmly quietly sitting there. About every 4 hrs I would need to spray the blanket again and put it back over the sides. We made 2 stops for a couple days each time. I would spray the bottom of the carrier which I left open and several corners of the room and she was much more calm than many days in our own home. Ceva Feliway travel spray was a miracle. I had seen a few reviews that said it hadn't worked for their cats so I asked and was given cat tranquilizers to use "just in case". I knew that during such a long trip either my cat or myself would need tranquilizers if the Feliway wasn't effective. I've always know that pheromones are very strong but I had no idea that the effect was so remarkable. My vet said that there are imitations that don't work and it would be a waste to buy them. I would recommend this product to anyone who has to travel any distance with an unhappy cat. Wish I'd had it for our trips to the vet which were only 20 or 30 minutes long. When we find a new vet, I will use it again. Hopefully she will not be so scared going to even the vets...that is until they start to poke or prod her. I will never travel again with a cat with out the amazing liquid.

I don't normally write reviews. I adopted a new cat a few weeks ago. I've had my original cat for two and a half years and she has been having trouble adjusting to not being an only child. The two fight constantly whenever they are near each other. I first heard about Feliway because it was being used at my vet. I also saw it listed in an article when I was googling "how to stop my cats from fighting". I read the reviews and I was really excited to try it. I got the spray in addition to the diffuser because I was worried about the "melting" issue with the diffuser and wanted to have a backup in case that became unusable. I used the spray on all the places that my cats normally hang out. The big platform of the cat tower in the picture has been my original cat's safe space. She spends almost the entire day on her perch away from the new cat. Ever since I sprayed the Feliway she won't go near that platform. I put her on there like I always do, she sniffs it, and immediately tries to go anywhere but there. She has NEVER stood on the scratch pad like she is in the picture until after I sprayed this stuff. She literally wants nothing to do with the platform that has been her absolute favorite place the last couple weeks. I'm pretty sure the new cat is also avoiding the spots I sprayed for her. It's harder to tell since she tends to be all over the place but she's not sleeping on her favorite place either. I really wanted this stuff to work. The reviews for it make it sound like a miracle. Unfortunately, the cats are still fighting and are still very jumpy. The only change I have seen is that they now avoid their favorite places because of the spray. I don't think the diffuser is having any effect either. It may just be my cats that are weird about this stuff but I wanted to throw it out there. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work on all cats.

Meet Mimi! She was adopted by my family after a very traumatic start in life. She has spent the last five years never letting us hold her, carry her, pet her. She was scared of every noise, terrified of other animals, and usually hiding. I eventually took her to the vet when i realized she wasn't just antisocial and nervous, and they recommended Feliway spray. I thought it was expensive, and the spray bottle is TINY, but i have a big house, and i sprayed every room, and now she's letting me cuddle with her and every night she falls asleep purring on my lap. The most beautiful purr I've ever heard. This is all thanks to Feliway spray and i intend to purchase more even though I probably only needed that one TINY spray bottle. It's amazing, I've tried so many other things and nothing ever worked. I would say this should be your first stop because you'll never need anything else.

I have a very anxious cat and was hoping this would help. Unfortunately, It seemed to make him crazier and more unhinged than I've ever seen him. He's an orange cat so he's already a nut and this stuff made it worse. Would not recommend.

Fonctionne très bien, mon chat a fait pour la 1er fois un voyage de plus de 1000 km dans la voiture et nickel aucun problème merciii.

Je ne sais pas si celà fonctionne réellement sur mes chats sinon le produit reçu est cohérent

Sinceramente sono rimasta colpita da questo prodotto...è pur vero che non funziona al 100 per 100 e ne ho la prova....ho 4 gatti e l'ho usato nei trasportini per portarli con me in vacanza...su 3 di loro ha funzionato alla grande sono stati tranquillissimi durante tutto il viaggio durato ben 6 ore...mentre su uno non ha sortito alcun effetto, ma almeno gli altri 3 erano tranquilli e non si dannavano nel trasportino. Lo consiglio vivamente.
