Is there a curved lip on this one like on the smaller one?

It's not really curved, there is a very thin ridge around the bowl. I think more for the purpose of making it smooth rather than sharp on the edge of the bowl.

I need a spoon to stir very thick chili. I usually break the wooden spoons & the metal ones typically bend at the handle & break. Is this better??

This is very strong. I have the slotted one as well, and a huge ladle. they are one piece, not soldered, so won't break. I use it for lots of cooking, chili, beef stew, etc., I can't imagine it bending from stirring the thickest of stews.
