The book does a great job of showing you without overwhelming you. Anyone doing creative work with these programs knows that the knowledge of what to press and when to press it is extremely important. This is not a book on how to edit. If you want that go read in the Blink of an Eye and study film theory. That information is primary. But what then? You need to know how to achieve your goals. This book breaks it down into several lessons that take self discipline. Unless you do this in a real class you need to deactivate yourself from email and social media while you focus on the lessons. This book sat on a bookshelf for about 6 months before I actually committed to it for that very reason. Make time for the lessons and it will definitely help you. I am coming from 8 years Final Cut Pro editing experience. Please take that into account when reading this review. I honestly do not have a clue as to how I would like the book if I hadn't already been working in FCP for almost a decade. I feel well equipped to do things now that I could never even do with FCP such as easier multicam editing, better syncronization with other adobe programs, preview files, creating visual storyboards, making better sub clips, speech analysis, and manipulation of RED interpretation files. Oh and XMP metadata. This book is better than any youtube how-to's because it is focussed and directed. I have a kindle but opted to get the book version due to the complaints about the kindle version. The disc has all the files I need for the lessons and is a great resource to include in this book. Do yourself a favor, get yourself a nice pack of highlighters, some pencils, premiere pro, this book and invest in the future. Review: Premiere Pro CS6 - This Book Lays It All Out - First of all, The Classroom In A Book series from Adobe is the creme de la creme of teaching materials for all things Adobe, and this Premiere Pro CS6 book is no exception. Everything about Premiere Pro is laid out in an organized structured style that is clearly done by professionals who really know the craft of filmmaking and all that goes along with it. Movie making is such a complex subject, taking in many disciplines of expertise to turn the sum parts into a whole. This Classroom In A Book on Premiere Pro goes through the complete process, making sure to cover every relevant point, so even the barest beginner is not left behind. Even with my years of working with other video editing programs, I've learned many new things that not only put Premiere into practical use in my business, but also has upgraded my understanding and has reinforced, clarified and enhanced my skill in video and movie editing, all because of the expert, well laid out contents of this fabulous book.

Good Kindle book, files are frustrating
This review applies to the Kindle version of the book, which I like a lot. I downloaded the book to my 10" Android tablet, rather than my Kindle device, because the illustrations and diagrams are all in color. That works very well; I actually like it better than having the hard-copy book, because I can perform searches on the material when the index comes up empty. The book itself is up to Adobe's usual standards. It is suitable for the novice to intermediate editor, although complete newbies may be confused and intimidated. If you consider yourself to fall in that category, I'd encourage you to get your feet wet with Premiere Elements. It's a surprisingly powerful video editor, with just about all the features that Premiere Pro had a few years ago. I got the book because I've been away from video editing for about a decade, and I am now getting back into it. So, for me, the learning starts around Chapter 5. And that brings up my only frustration with the Kindle book. The lesson folders have project files for each chapter, in case one starts in the middle of the book, as I have. But when I opened the Chapter 5 lesson file, Premiere Pro gave me warnings that it couldn't find source files needed for the project. I have resolved most, but not all of those issues. That issue prevents me from giving the book five stars. One suggestion for Kindle version readers. Go to the publishers website (the link is in the Kindle book) and download *everything* on the lesson files page, including the bonus material. Media files aren't centralized, and to work through the Lesson 5 project, you will need the files for Lessons 1 - 4. In the next edition of this book, I would hope the publisher does a better job of organizing the media files to avoid this annoying glitch.

Well written and easy to follow.
So far I've gotten through chapter nine in the book. It is well laid out and very extensive so far. The lessons on the CD are very helpful but I'm beginning to want to see the entire movie with the sorcerer. Looks interesting. I only have one complaint but it's not enough to reduce the rating. The screen shots are TEENY making it hard to see what's in them. I'm constantly using a magnifying glass. My recommendation to Adobe is to include the screenshots on the DVD so a person can pull them up if they need to see more detail. I've never used Premier pro before and find this book explains things very well. I've used other products in the Adobe suite and am pleased that some shortcut keys and icons for tools remain consistent throughout. Adobe is very good with that.

Very Good So Far
I have only gotten through the first few lessons in this book but so far so good. I am going to be taking over editing of our videos here at my job and this book has been great at starting from the very beginning, with things as basic as a review of the interface, video formats, frame rates, etc. This information was all lacking from any free online tutorials that I could find. Definitely a valuable asset and I'm looking forward to finishing the whole thing and adding video editing to my job responsibilities. TONS of information. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet.

Amazing training manual from the source wow!
I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro since CS 3 first came out and it's jumped by leaps and bounds with incredible features. I learned from the first classroom in a book for CS 3 and it has allowed me to stay competitive in my career as a multimedia producer. I purchased this book to get up to date on the newest features and workflows and the training and project files are simply INCREDIBLE and so easy to go thru and learn from. I would HIGHLY recommend this training resource to anyone who needs to get up to speed on Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Classroom in a Book
This is a very thorough and thoughtful guide that is well written. I am about half-way through the lessons, which are well structured. This gives me an opportunity to learn the range of options and possibilities of editing software, whereas I otherwise would have only touched the surface. Furthermore, the lessons are educating me about many other dimensions concerning work flow, working with different file formats. I am getting a much broader understanding of the entire process of shooting and editing video.

Solid
This is a solid book for a beginner with Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. The sequence of the book is good and the lessons are reasonably thorough. The few details that prevent me from giving it a 5-Star rating: 1) The screen shots are very dim and small, so it was sometimes difficult to follow along visually when looking for the right option, menu or button when referencing the picture. This may not be an issue with the e-book, but in print it was a challenge. 2) Some of the assets weren't linked when a lesson project was opened for the first time. Although the book covered how to relink files (anyone who's worked in other Adobe applications like Illustrator or InDesign can probably figure it out without much help), there was one lesson where the asset was completely missing and couldn't be linked. I wasn't able to get much out of that chapter's lesson as a result. 3) The last chapter of the book about publishing and exporting was long on technical jargon, but short on practice work. I'd say all in all the book is still very good, but it seemed to fall a little short for the reasons I described here. I still recommend it, though.

PECCATO SIA IN INGLESE
Ho confrontato tra loro molti libri su premiere e posso dire che questo è il migliore. Peccato che sia in inglese ma con un minimo di impegno e praticità si riesce a capire ogni lezione. Molto completo e perfetto x chi come me è alle prime armi. All'interno sono presenti 19 lezioni con tanto di CD per gli esercizi

My first Premiere experience
I had used Pinnacle long time ago, so I was aware of general procedures and knew what to expect/ look for. The book is clear to an almost beginner like myself, may be red chapter by chapter which follows the recommended procedure, or one can chose an independent chapter. Also one may use the lessons schedule and videos or get the info he needs from the corresponding chapter. Personally I find what I need in the book pages. My only complaint is that the print in the photos is very small and I need glasses or magnifier or lots of light!

Excellent
