Murders flies. Fantastic.
This thing KILLS flies like nothing else. During warm weather, put the included mix in (I think it's powdered sewage or something gross) and at first nothing.. but after a few days, you see a dead fly.. then two. Then HUNDREDS. I have two of these devices hanging from garden hooks and they need to be emptied and changed several times a year because they get so full!NOTE: I live in a rural area with animals nearby so flies are a big nuisance. Not sure how it would work in a city setting but give it a try!Be warned: You can't have this anywhere near the house. We keep ours 50+ feet out. Its full of the stench of death and decay when full of flies. And wear a mask when emptying it! And if you have dogs, don't empty it anywhere they can get to because they love the stinky smell and might eat it or roll around in it.I can't say enough about how I love this product.

Perfect Stink Pot
I live in an area of the city that is the area between the high priced homes and the abandoned ghetto. Thanks to alley trash cans and vacant properties the area is pretty well infested with flies when it's hot out. After using this product I am AMAZED at how few flies have made it into my house. I used to have 6-12 hovering by my door at any given moment, now none. I rarely get the odd fly that sneaks inside now.the first few days the bucket got FULL fast. Now it seems to get about half filled on a weekly basis. It's approaching fall so I'm sure that's lessened the population but I also think the trap is helping cull the population a good bit as well. Even if the population isn't decreasing, they've been distracted from my door to further toward my back yard which makes me happy!I placed it at the far corner of our yard, say about 5 yards from the back porch. I do not notice the smell. Even when I'm picking tomatoes in the garden where I have it sitting on a shelf I don't notice it. On a hot day the flies totally ignore piles of dog poo and go for the trap.it does smell HORRIBLE when you have to dump it. I got a mesh strainer from a junk sale. and use a bucket to strain the dead flies out and then replace the liquid. I have done this 4x and see no need to buy more refill packets. the stuff gets funkier over time, which means it's more effective. I do have to open the trap and then WALK AWAY (I usually open it and then go mess with the hose) because it almost made me puke last time. Once it's aired out a bit it's more tolerable. Dont attempt if you have a weak stomach!

Works great.
Works well to attract flies, especially due to trash in the summer. Does however have a smells so I would not recommend keeping near a window, door or air conditioner to allow the smell to enter your home.

Flies love it!
Every year starting in February the flies come swarming. I have purchased the smaller versions of traps like these, but this year decided to get the gallon hoping it would keep me from having to empty it out as often. I set it up today, and instead of waiting as the instructions said I stuck it outside on the ground where the flies are. Less than 5 minutes later there are already lots of flies in the jar and many more standing in line waiting to go in.3/23/15 I must clean this thing out TODAY. lol It's is completely full of flies, I mean FULL. This is also the first time in 20 years of living here (never had fly issues in other states like I have in AZ) that I didn't have that sticky fly paper stuff hanging everywhere in my house, full of flies, and sticking to the cats. This trap worked so well that we had no fly problems in the house. For such a simple design, this thing really works. The only thing that would make me happier is to find an easy, less gross way to empty it. :D4/9/15: The trap is almost completely full again, pretty darn amazing. The problem is that my yard is too small. I hadn't noticed it much at first, but recently we've been getting some really nice breezes (rare around here). Those breezes are spreading the STENCH everywhere, surrounding my small house. I cannot imagine why the neighbors have not said anything other than we all try to keep to ourselves. But it's making me so uncomfortable worrying about if it's bothering them that I'm going to have to pack it up. Unfortunately I missed garbage day by 1 day ... last week I took it out 2 days before garbage day and it smelled 5 houses down the block. I'm not kidding. This is NOT the fault of the product, it works as advertised. But if you care about your neighbors, be aware of how the smell spreads as it is just about the more horrible smell ever. lolNote: I can't figure out how I'm going to clean this well enough to put it away anywhere. I'm going to rinse it out as best as I can, then hang it (empty) out of sight under a tree or something. Maybe leave some baking soda water in it. I don't see how the smell will completely leave so if it's too bad I will be forced to toss the whole thing. If that's the case, then the disposable ones would be a LOT easier to deal with. It's just hard to imagine spending all this money for a month or 2 of serious fly season. Need much better prices so we can feel better about disposing of the whole thing. It does work, so 4 stars. I removed 1 star because cleaning / disposing is very difficult.
